India Pils Lager Our spring seasonal offering brewed with 100 percent positive vibrations and single-hopped with Citra hops. The presence of the Citra hop is elevated by a clean fermenting lager yeast that allows the subtle Pilsner, Munich and Vienna malts to lay a crisp, bready foundation. The citrus and tropical fruit character of the Citra hop comes from kettle additions followed by a huge dose of ‘em again in the fermenter.

3.9Bottle to glass. Holy dankiness upon smelling. Light citrus. Catty. Great aroma. Pour is clear, pale yellow in color, medium to large white head, Rocky. Taste is like a German pils with cattiness and a touch astringent. This dang things drinks pretty grate. Reminds me a lot of victory prima pils but just a great citra hop presence. The hop bitterness gets to be wearing by the end though. Just a touch too much hop bitterness makes it on the verge of astringent. Otherwise it’s a great beer
4.1Poured a bright gold with lots of carbonation. Aroma was mostly floral, piny hops and some citrus. Taste is mostly bitter hoppiness that lingers on the tongue balanced by some subtle fruity sweetness.
3.9Bouteille.
3.5Tap at Reservoir, Waterbury. Colour is clear orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, some citrus, sweetness, some caramel, hops and malts.
3.3Bottle poured into pint glass from Signal Variety, Plaistow NH. Aroma is citrus dominant over a mild yeasty and bready smell (had one of three with fairly strong yeasty ammonia/cat piss and b.o./dirty laundry smell and a little bit of bread--will give a pass that that was a bad one). Appearance is hazy yellow with nice sparkle, two finger-width fluffy white head and nice lacing. Taste still has the sour ammonia/cat piss (more than the aroma) with a strong citrus back end. Palate is medium bodied with sticky texture, somewhat astringent with average carbonation and very dry, bitter finish you can feel in your back teeth. Overall, I was really looking forward to this beer. There is a fair amount of complexity here but not all of it is good.
3.1Bottle. Aroma is lots of herbal hops plus some citrus and grass. Tastes very grassy. Some light pilsner malt sweetness and citrus peel. Herbal finish. Doesn’t seem like a single hop citra beer at all. Just ok.
3.3This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was a nice looking semi-hazy yellow color with a light transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising to fill a three finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some light ringy foamy lacing cutting into the glass appropriately.
The smell had a sweet to semi-bitter connotation of citrus spiced rind over some light biscuity breadiness. It’s backed up by a nice sweet floral aspect as well.
The taste was moderately bitter with a sweetness sliding in to confide in a sweet smooth yet bitter sticky citrus aftertaste and a light sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation comes across fairly tame allowing a sticky smooth citrusto grassy feel rolling over my tongue.
Overall, I say as an India pale lager it works. Not sure why it’s labeled as an Imperial lager on here. Just cause it’s got a higher ABV doesn’t mean it’s an Imperial lager. Eh, oh well, whatever. It’s good for what it is and would be a good food beer.
3.7Draft at Milkboy. Cloudy yellow gold with a good showing of white foam that left sporadic lace. Bittersweet citrus pith. Mildly creamy body. Looks nice. Lemon pips. Grapefruit rinds. Honeycomb. Banana peels. Pineapple cores. Hints of vanilla bean and lemon verbena. Yellow plums. Celery hearts. Artichokes. Pilsner/wheat beer flavors underneath. Hay. Straw. Sourdough farmhouse. More complex than anticipated.
3.4(bottle - 12 oz) Cloudy gold pour with a fluffy white head. Light citrus hop aroma with a light floral hint. More an IPA in my view than a lager. Citrus hops and a very light and slightly bitter finish.
3.5Pours a nice cloudy gold with rocky white head. Aromas are fruity hops, not as overwhelming citrus as I’d expect with Citra, but still nice. Drinks more like an IPA, lacks the clean, dry character I’d expect with a lager. Sorta heavy on the hop bitter aftertaste.
3.512oz into a glass. Pours a honey lemonade gold. Super huge and thick white head, imminent domain. A few inches of goodness. Hangs out awhile too. Aroma of orange, grain, crystal malt, citra hop essence. Taste of hoppy orange, grassy Meadows of herbage, fresh pine, malty finish. The interchange between the styles is interesting, as it hovers over an Ipa base but throws in pilsner and lager quantifications as well. Groovy and relaxing.
3.6Poured from tap light golden color with a thin white head. Aromas of juicy citrus and hop. Taste is ok but left something to be desired.
3.3High grapefruit even the rinds finish it. Hops are heavy but not insane. Deep yellow and hazy. Light aroma makes me think sunshine. Tap
4.412 oz bottle. Nice clean citrus taste that does not overwhelm anything else. For a fruit beer this was quite enjoyable.
3.6Nice citrus fruit with a pleasant bitterness. Nothing is over done but both are prominent and balanced enough to keep it enjoyable. Overall very refreshing.
3.3Where and how: PG / b. 355 ml
Aroma lager? citrusy fruit sided with sweet ripe mango. Quiet sweet.
Appearance :
Top: large creamy, foamy white top, lace on glass.
Base: fine haze, pale golden.
Palate : medium bodied, soft, mild carbonation.
Taste: very hop forward, everything else is secondary. Mellow base,
Other notes not very lager like. Hops cover benefits of lagering. Tasty? Yes, but considering lager is more expensive to brew , one might wonder why.
3.8[Draught at Coles, Buffalo] Pours a slightly hazy deep gold with an average size semi-lasting frothy white head and some lacing. Nice citra aroma, lots of fruity hops, just lovely really. Flavour’s not quite as good but still good, it follows the aroma along with a light odd touch I can’t place. Big dry bitter finish. Medium bodied. Very good.
3.9Bottle at home. Pours hazy dirty gold with sudsy white head. Nose is lovely burst of juicy citrus. Tastes of mangos, guava, dank weed, honey, peppercorns, touch aerosol. Nice sticky yet lively palate. Drying finish. Probably best otter creek beer I’ve had.
3.9Aroma: citrus, bread, grass,
Appearance: golden, hazy, white foam,
Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness,
Palate: slick feel, light body,
Delicious.
4.212 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 11/10/2014. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a dense cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, cracker, bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity of citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, cracker, bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, apricot, lemon/orange peel, pine, cracker, bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a crisp malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a awesome IPL style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
3.9Aromat citry i delikatny diacetyl. Złote, opalizujące, piana trwała. W smaku czysty lagerowy charakter. Super chmielowy lager. Pijalny orzeźwiajacy. Świetny.
3.1Bottle. Golden, hazy, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate malty and sweetish aroma, fruity, some carame and light fruitiness, some citrus – light grapefruit hoppyness.. Body is medium, malty - lightly grainy and sweetish flavor, some caramel and fruitiness, some citrus - grapefruit hoppyness, light alcohol. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, some caramel and fruitiness, some citrus - grapefruit hoppyness, light alcohol. Caramel sweet strong lager. Lacks character.
3.3New Beer Distributors, NYC twelve ounce bottle: pours slight hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is moderate citrus and some grass. Taste is lightly bitter and kind of sweet. Definitely tastes like a lager. Pretty good. Lingering sugary aftertaste.
3.9Bottle from Wegmans in Fayetteville. Pours a cloudy yellow golden color with a minimal head. Not much aroma but very clean and crisp for what’s there, maybe a little grapefruit hint. Citrusy hops with an overall crisp pils taste. Finish is slightly bitter and short. This would be a good beer for a hot summer day, very refreshing.
3.8Pours a light hazy gold with a thick white head. Aroma of bitter citrus and tropical fruit with a nice creamy malt finish. Taste follows, crisp and bitter citrus with creamy biscuity malt. Solid
3.9Cloudy dark straw color with big off white head. Aroma of citra hops. Better than I remember, clean lemon maltyness of a Pilsner with a floral mango citrus citra finish.
3.9Bottle picked up at StateLine.. Poured in to a snifter... big ole’ rocky head, that sticks around. Light orange color which is slightly murky. Nose of tropical fruits...pineapple, banana. Taste is tropical fruits... light pineapple, pear, banana, light bitterness/hop presence in the aftertaste. Nice malty body. Reminds me Sam Adams Noble pils. Easy to drink. Cant say enough good things about this beer... definitely exceeded expectations!
3.7Bottle. Pours hazy golden, small white head dissipates to a ring leaving decent lacing. Aroma is Citra - i get it as buttery tropical dank and fruity, mango and guava. Flavor is light sweet and light plus bitter, muted citra hoppy flavors, a bit of underlying honey. Medium body, lingering bitterness. Pretty solid.
3.0Keg @ Two Stones. Slightly hazy gold with a crwamy white head. Nose of citrus fruits, honeyed bread. Cantaloupe meat, tropical trade winds. Taste is pretty dry, hop-forward. Herbs, grass, lemon. More tropical fruit. Some cake mix. Moderately sweet. Some chalk. Drinks a bit flabbily. Medium body, active carb.
