Oud Beersel Bersalis Tripel Oak Aged

Oud Beersel Bersalis Tripel Oak Aged

Part of Bersalis Tripel’s production matures at Oud Beersel brewery on wooden barrels alongside the lambic barrels.

Due to the micro-organisms present in the brewery, the beer undergoes a second fermentation, this time a spontaneous fermentation on wooden barrels by Lactobacillus and Brettanomyces. After a maturation of 16 months on wooden barrels previously containing Chateauneuf du Pape red wine, the first batch of this unique beer was bottled and fermented a third time on bottle.75 cl 10.5%

1.6 The beer I'm sure had promise, however, unfortunately for me it was as flat as a pancake. Without carbonation it may have dulled the flavours and made it taste sweet, more than what would be expected. Oak on the nose with sweet earthy honey undertones. The malt flavour is good with the complementing slightly sour flavour. No hop bitterness or aroma.
4.0 W zapachu wyraźne aromaty tripla, suszonych owoców, wyraźny również charakter lambika, beczki. W smaku średnia pełnia, wyraźne nuty suszonych owoców, beczki, drewna, lambika. Alkohol świetnie ułożony w zapachu i smaku, niewyczuwalny.
4.0 Przyjemny sour,szampanowy,pijalny,lekka beczka,ogolnie bdb,jest gaz,lekki kwasek.

3.7 Strong, balanced nuances of averagely sour dryish green berries, some mango. Some bitter malts. A hint of toffee and lactose. Medium taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with slightly bitter fruits. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, both malts and fruits are there but its a bit too dry and wood like for my taste. 6 3 8 4 16
3.5 Not bad bud doesn't live up to the massive production hype they put on the bottle. Better than the Villers and Gentse tripels I just had for sure. Florals, coriander, and barrel. Not much Bretta apparent. Sweet, light boozy end. Tap at Max's.
3.8 Bottle - 375ml (2017). Hazy, carbonated, golden body with a thin, white foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with oaky, fruity, yeasty, and vineous hints. Alcohol remains in the background. Its robust malty/hoppy taste carries oaky, vineous, citrusy, and yeasty notes. Ends with a long, warming, woody/sour finish. Enjoyable.
3.3 Tap. Zlata farba. Vona kyselkava, sladka. Chut kyselkava, mierne citrus, kandovane ovocie.
4.0 On tap at 100 piv.pleasant one. Tasty. Very decent sour feel works with me without doubts
3.9 Golden amber color, white head. Fruity nose, Belgian yeast, wood, apple, malty notes, caramel. Sour taste, wood, caramel, Belgian yeast, vinegar. Full body, soft carbonation. 8, 4, 8, 4, 15
3.5 I Commercial description speaks about lagering in Châteauneuf du Pape barrels. My sample speaks about lagering in Brunello di Montalcino barrels. Different batches, beers? /I Small colourless rim over hazy orange beer. Wood, lactic acid, lemon, orangeliqueur. Brett obvious. More orange/orangepeel/orangeliqueur. Bit vinous, but more liqueur-like, even a bit herbal/spicy. Something like vegetable - as very lightly cooked or steamed artichoke. Floormop Brett present. Light body, light carbonation, slick, hint at alcohol. Mwwh... It's as if it can't find its own destination - hesitating in which direction it ought to go.
3.5 Light golden color, weak carbonization with almost no head. Aromas were nice and citrus-y, but very mild. Real flavor profile is in the mouth, with notes of sweet apple and wine grapes. Do wish that the citrus would have been more intense, as the taste feels a bit unfinished. Aftertaste not pleasant, lingers in the mouth is overly tart. Overall not very complex. Paired it with oysters, felt like a bit of a waste. Would have stood better with something more flavourful, like a couscous salad or pitabread with baba ganoush.
3.7 Golden, cloudy with a medium white head. Fruits and with some Wooden barrel aroma. Light=medium sour with a fruit and spices end. One of the best sour beers I have tasted, I have not tested too many. Alc well hidden.
Ellers herlig med litt funky fat sammen med krydret trippel preg
4.0 Colore giallo dorato, schiuma bianca media persitente.
3.3 Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 33B/28C/26C). Bottle 37,5 cl - Batch unknown (BBF 30/10/2020 - Bottled on 30/10/2017). AROMA: medium-high alcohol aroma, followed by wild fermentation notes (slight barnyard, sulphury, sourness). low background notes of slightly sweet malt and spicy phenols. APPEARANCE: gold colour and clear. medium off-white head with medium-low retention. FLAVOUR: initial medium-low wood flavour, followed medium-low to low sweet malt that balances with sourness, faint pear. medium-low bitterness with a very dry finish. PALATE: medium body with medium-low carbonation. alcoholic warmth. OVERALL: a belgian triple that went into a wild fermentation stage, stripping a bit more of its belgian character.
3.5 A wood and yeast significant tartness, the fruit and sweetness of the triple is there. Worth a few sips.
3.9 Part of last Fall SAQ ‘bières d’exception’, a nice complex beer, yet the lack of carbonation makes me wonder if I got a flat one. Sour and oak-aged is a good idea for me.
3.8 Aroma of light brett, light white wine grapes and light oak. Amber with white head. Taste is light+ sweet, light sour, and light bitter. medium body, oily feel and light vinous oak finish.
3.8 On tap. Dark golden colour with white head. Citric aroma.Wood, citric, sour, acidic taste. Medium body.
3.8 On tap. Pours a deep gold with moderate head. Buttery and funky. Very nice.
3.8 18.02.2019, 0,75l bottle (2014 vintage) shared @ BBGTC tasting: Nice slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish floral, herbs, old citrus peel, oak, flowers, hay, minerals, alcohol, sour grass, unripe berries, dried fruits. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish fruity, unripe berries, flowers, herbs, old citrus peel, oak, sorrel, soda powder, minerals, fruit salt, old rope, bark. Medium bitterness, slightly dry sour-ish floral mouthfeel. Nice.
4.1 Pours quite geuze-like light yellow ocre with small head. Medium tart only, soft, citrussy sourness, wood tannins, faint vanilla, peppery, some alcohol, sweetish, malty tripel underneath very noticeable, a little butterscotch, the red wine? Delicate but very rich in tastes and well balanced, good oak aged tripel, interesting till the last drop.
4.2 375 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 10/1/2021. Pours lightly hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, toasted oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wet wood, leather, musty funk, wheat, cracker, white bread, light vanilla/white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, wine/oak barrels, and pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, toasted oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wet wood, leather, musty funk, wheat, cracker, white bread, light vanilla/white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness, Brett/wine tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, toasted oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wet wood, leather, musty funk, wheat, cracker, white bread, light vanilla/white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, wine/oak barrels, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tang/tartness, and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with no puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tang/tartness, yeast/oak spiciness, and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly crisp/acidic/tangy/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 10.5%. Overall this is a fantastic sour/wild tripel style! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, wine/oak barrels, and pale/wheat malt flavors; dangerously smooth and fairly crisp to drink for the big ABV, with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Not overly lactic. Amazingly well rounded classic barnyard Brett/Bacteria, and Belgian yeast complexity; with great wine/oak barrel presence, and pale/wheat malts against acidity. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing hybrid style example. Outstanding blend of Tripel and lambic characteristics.
3.8 The aroma is a typical geuze: barnyard, straw, fruit. Yellow, muddy beer with almost no foam. The taste is very interesting: a mixture of lambic and triple. Animal farm, some fruit, a little sweetness. Finish warming. However, alcohol is not felt when you drink. The body is medium, carbonation is small.
4.0 De couleur jaune opaque avec mousse blanche. On n’a des notes vin, de bois.en bouche c est un bon mélange et c’est liquoreux et vineux un bouche avec le coté boisé et pour finir un on m’a un côté acidulé.
3.8 2017 bottle. Somewhat hazy gold with a coat of white head. Aroma of Moroccan preserved lemon (old lemons, herbs, extra salty sweat), bread, sweet grapes, oranges. A slight stickiness and a slight slipperiness. Medium low carbonation. Sweet and luscious with a brooding lambic-like sour and woody funk rumbling in the background and whisking the sweetness away at the end. Slightly woody there. Not the most complex but the balance is lovely. You'd never guess it was 10.5%.
