Oxbow Farmhouse Pale Ale

Oxbow Farmhouse Pale Ale

Farmhouse Pale Ale is our American interpretation of a hoppy saison. Belgian pilsner malt provides the base for an abundance of American hops and our farmhouse yeast to shine together in this refreshing ale.

3.8 Bottle at home bought from cloudwater website. This was nice and refreshing and very easy drinking. It was light, dry, smooth, hoppy and clean
4.2 Bottle at home picked up from cloudwater online. A translucent yellow straw coloured pour with a frothy white head. Aroma is nice vibrant, saison yeast, straw, apple, clove, bubblegum, light clove. Flavour is soft wheat, straw, grass, apple, saison yeast, delicate stuff, light tang, spicy clove. Palate is frothy , prickly airy carbonation, spicy finish. Really great authentic saison.
4.1 Bottle at home, from CW online, 15/08/20. Moderate haze on a golden blonde pour topped with a Mr Whippy style white cap that stays for the party ... a handsome looking beer. Nose is pale malts, bread dough, grass, duty hops, lemon rind, light barnyard esters, dirty berry skins. Taste comprises toasted grains, lemon rind, dusty hops, stale bread, farmyard esters, grass, light herb, balanced yeast twang. Medium bodied, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close. Tip top saison ... all the style boxes well and truly ticked ... surprised this doesn't score higher !
3.8 330 ml bottle. Medium gold pour. Frothy off-white head is long lasting. Robust bready malt aroma. Flavor mirrors nose. Added notes of yeast and lemon. Slightly spicy, bitter. Minimal funkiness. Moderate hop bitterness. Dry peppery finish. Decent.
3.8 I like how the saison plays a front role here. Hops play a supporting role but farmhouse peppery finish is prominent. Excellent execution.
3.3 October 19, 2019 - at Volo Birreria, on draught. Very hazy pale gold with a decent diminishing creamy off-white head. Dry floral aroma, funky/wild, with definite alcohol presence; decently bitter, light on the malt body. Taste follows, but a lot sweeter, lighter alcohol presence, not as much funk. Decent body, airy, quick finish - ultimately a little light and undefined.
3.4 Pours with huge perfect foam and a nice clear golden hue. The aroma is soft banana, yeast, mellow sweet hops. Flavour is a deep and chewy rustic grain affair. Chalky and boozy aftertaste detracts, but otherwise this is very nice.

3.8 Pours slightly hazed gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to coat surface. Funky citrus aromas. Sharp with sweet sourdough and biscuit upfront turning to better earth in the lasting dusty finish.
3.5 Bottle. Shimmering yellow-gold with haze and a 3-inch plume of frothy white head that fizzles and fades. Aroma is tart barnyard, lemon, grass, hint of black pepper, bit of musty funk too, some spicy-grassy hops, touch of grain. This smells great! Body is light-med weight, watery-oily with med-high carbonation, big burn, kind of hot, somewhat prickly rather than creamy or velvety. Flavor is crisp wheat sour grain with a spicy-grassy hop bite. Hint of lightly-toasted dry raw barley/wheat. This beer has a nice acid to it and I would peg that as being from the use of raw wheat grain? - it doesn't taste like usual lactic-producing organisms. An easy-drinking hot-day saison.
3.6 On tap at Hops & Pie poured a hazy gold with a lingering ring of off white foam. Aromas of straw, pepper, citrus, fruitiness, light earthiness and light yeast. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, pepper, yeast and a hint of fruitiness with a crisp dry lingering peppery finish.
3.9 Tasty and light pale ale with a fresh hop taste and light body, big funky aftertaste, super nice!
3.5 Draft pour with a light gold color, small head on it. Funky wet bark aroma. Notes of yeast funk, wet flannel, and cheese mold. Nice intense farm house ale.
3.3 Airy wheat, light carbonation, touch of hops. Steady and decent, if not a stand out. Works fine.
3.6 On tap at District Tap House. Pours gold. Pepper, banana, pear, guava, lemon, touch of funk, little grain. Medium body. Decent.
3.9 Golden with thick foamy white head Aroma is yeasty grainy Flava is grainy mildly bitter and herbal Feels light crisp with rich foamy fizziness Finishes dry bitter
3.3 Bottle, Legacy. Hazy, dullish blonde colour. Thick head. Saison yeast on the nose, with a bit of plasticy phenols, and some vaguely floral hops. More balanced on the palate - less sweet, and with fewer phenols. There's still a bit of sweetness in the finish, but a light bitterness in the middle balances this a bit. There's a fair amount of yeastiness, but this presents as neutral. There are not a lot of hop aromatics in this beer. Overall, it's okay. Decent basic saison, at about the right price for such a beer.
3.4 Trübes gelb-gold, wenig Schaum. Aroma: Blumig, Heu, Zitrus, leichtes Malzaroma. Geschmack: Hefe, Frucht (Aprikose), Hopfen
3.6 3-6-19
3.9 $2.90 bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours murky gold with a white head, a few floaters in the murk. Aroma is funky hay, dried flowers, apricot, yeast, light earth. Flavor is chamomile, hay, light apricot, dried rose, yeast. Very nice.
3.8 12 ounce bottle from Ernie's in Lexington. A light orange color in pour with some nice yeasty notes and overall farmhouse taste.
3.7 Bottled from NYC. Yellow amber pour slightly hazy. Hints of citrus and such. Pretty good.
3.7 From backlog. Taster at Haand Frstival. Golden with white head. Malts, hops, herbs, yeast.
3.7 On tap at Oxbow, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out plenty of farmhouse funk, with wild critters and dry hoppy notes on top. Flavour is along the same lines, with crisp dry hopping, a great farmhouse character and wild yeast. Complex and well-designed. This is great.
3.7 Pale golden pour with a thin white head. Light haze. Aroma is awesome. Light sweet malt aroma, some soft herbal notes along with a bit of grass and dustiness. Lean-bodied and a bit fruity. Dry and tasty.
3.6 On tap at the blending house. Mostly clear golden pour with fluffy white head. Grainy and spiced with a very light funk, white pepper and yeast some corriander, mild body and moderate carbonation, slightly dry with a hint of sweet on the finish.

4.0 Hazy yellow on draft white head. Citrus and lawn clipping aroma. Brisk spice and lemon flavor
3.7 Tap at Sovereign. Very lightly cloudy yellow gold pour with a white head. Delicate grassy notes over light malts, hints of pepper and citrus. Quite good.
3.4 Pale golden with a white head - Hops and some citrus in the aroma - Malt body to support a citrus hop flavour - the citrdu flavour goes into the finish - This was nice
