3.8 Draft 0.2l at Brauhaus Paffgen, Koln, Germany. 09.06.2018. Pour it clear golden color wtih medium white head. Aroma crispy malty note, light yeasty, grassy. Taste bread, cereal, grass, light refreshing, lightly bitter, light body, thick and slick feel, lively, long finish, really the best Kolsch that I ever had .
3.9 Golden and delicious. Perfectly balanced. Light grainy malt with delicate hop aroma. Crystal clear frothy head.
3.7 Cask, at Bierhaus am Rhein, Cologne. Moderate grain for the malt, faint herbs and dough for the hops and yeast. Head is large, frothy, white, with excellent lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is clear golden amber. Flavor starts slightly sweet and lightly acidic, then just tapers off to the most minimal bitterness. Palate is light to medium, watery, with a soft carbonation. Superb Kölsch, easy to drink and goes great with common German cold meats.
3.3 On tap at Brauhaus. Crystal clear golden amber beer with thick frothy white head. Sweet malt nose. No carbonation but laces well. Grainy taste with touches of corn and sunflower seeds. Dry finish. Easy-drinking but quite complex for a Kolsch.
2.8 On tap at Bierhaus en d'r Salzgass. Pours clear goldeb with thin white head. Aroma is malt, grassy hops and a hint of soap. Taste is sweet and bitter with malt, grassy hops, a hint of some fruits.
3.2 On tap at Päffgen, Köln, 10.10.17. Clear gold with a white head. Sme minerals and warm malt aroma, bitter and light taste, minerals and malt. Light body, sweetish finish.
4.0 I had a few glasses of this nectar and they made it easy. The beer is immaculately clear and the color of straw with a large head. This could be the best I've had in the style and I'm not sure how to even improve. Crisp pils malt character is so genuine with true hop character adding woody spice for balance. The palate is dry and spritzy. The faintest fruity hint comes out in the finish. I mean, you wanna talk cleanliness in a beer, this is it. It's almost like chewing on malt and hops then washing it down with pristine seltzer water.
3.7 Glass, golden beer, small head. Aroma is malt, hops. Taste is the same, some fruit. Bitter afterflavour, with some sweetness. subtle but long aftertaste.
3.3 Served on tap. Very clear straw colour. Thick fluffy long-lasting white foam. Light herbal aroma. Malty and a little bit of caramel flavour. The bitterness perfectly offsets the sweetness. The light body, the medium-low carbonation and the 4.8% Abv make it easy to drink.
3.7 15-06-17 // draft at Lommerzheim, Cologne. Clear golden, small white head. Perfect Kölsch, but still this still isnt very interesting. It is a very smooth and easy to drink beer, mild grains and straw. Rated according to the style.
4.2 Draft at the Brauhaus. Had this loads of times but somehow didn’t rate it. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of yeast, light fruits, grains, dough and soft light malt with light notes of caramel coming out in the end. Flavour is light sweet and bitter. Light bodied with light carbonation. So smooth, and a beautiful session beer that can keep me happy without the need for constant ticking. Awesome!
2.9 several 0.2 l draught @ Bierhaus am Rhein, Cologne. Golden, clear etc. the usual. Well, this is nice and smooth, very smooth, very easy to drink. Not very interesting though. Too balanced for me.
4.2 Great Kölsch! Hands down this is the best brewery in all of Cologne! The beer is crisp and clean. Very session-able!
2.4 On tap at the brewpub. Clear golden body with a white head. Aroma of grains and bread with a minimal sulfur. Taste of bread, grains, yeast and a tiny bit of floral hops. Quite watery. Not the best kölsch in Köln for me.
2.5 On tap at Paffgen brauhaus, Koln. Stinky lager aroma. Light beer with minimal taste. Finish is cellar and kinda skunky. Let down considering this is the highest rated kolsch. There’s better in the city.
4.0 Vom Fass im Brauhaus. Dunkelgelbes klares Bier, weisser fester Schaum. Getreidig frischer Duft. Antrunk Gras, etwas Malz. würzig und Süffig. Schöne Bitternoten im Abgang. Kösch mit Kannte. lecker.
3.4 Clear, golden colored, medium- white head. Aroma is of malt, some grain, some hoppy grassy notes. Taste is light sweet malt, grain, bit fruits, some herbal notes with light+ bitterness, dry finish. Light bodied, average carbonation, watery. Pretty clean and refreshing, nothing too exciting, but hey, it is a Kolsch... and the best I tried so far. (on tap, at the Brauerei)
3.3 From wood barrel at Gaststätte Lommerzheim. Clear golden with big white head. Aroma is grassy crispy hops. A malty apple pie as well. Taste is fresh citric sourness and a little artificial apple sweetness. Mouthfeel is ginger ale and the finish is medium with more ginger ale. Too much artificial apple. Good though.
3.4 Tap at lommerzheim . pours golden with huge head. Nose is tart, bread. Palate is a bit watery, mouthfeel is like a ginger ale. Finish is slightly sweet. Overall it feels like a sweeter Pilsener. Not bad though
3.1 On tap. Klare goldene Farbe, mittelgroße weiße schaumkrone. Geruch getreidig malzig, mild würzig hopfig. Geschmack angenehm würzig hopfig, nicht zu bitter, getreidig malzig, süffig.
4.1 Draught @ the brewpub. Pours clear golden color with a big white head. Very fresh and light (not thin) with notes of lime, orange and flour. Small bitterness in the end. Herbs in aftertaste.
3.3 On tap at ’Bierhaus am Rhein’. Clear, pale golden yellow with a frothy, white head. Sweetish, grassy and slightly fruity aroma of fresh grass, citrus and malts. Sweetish, already slightly bitter, grassy and a little fruity taste of fresh grass, citrus and some biscuits, followed by a short, moderately bitter, grassy finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Nice Kölsch!
3.8 Draught at the brewpub. Clear golden, medium white head. Bready malt with some red berries and floral hops. Medium bodied, low to medium carbonation. Dry, low to medium bitterness.
3.0 Gold pour, small white head. Flavor is vaguely floral and crisp. Not a lot going on but not bad. Also perhaps less thin than other kolsches.
3.8 Drank on tap at Päffgen Obergärige Hausbrauerei in Köln on 10.05.2016. Not a big fan of Kölsch but that was definitely an outstanding representation of the genre. All well balanced and the palate was much more complex and enjoyable than normal light, boring Kölsch I had tried before. A must-try in the genre.
3.5 From tap at Bierhaus am Rhein, Cologne. Pours a clear bright pale golden with a lasting white head. Aroma of hop, corn, grass, and mildly soapy. Medium sweetness, minimal bitterness. Light body. Oily texture. Light carbonation. Very mellow. Best Kolsch I’ve tried so far.
3.3 Draught at the Bierhaus en d'r Salzgass, Cologne, Germany. Clear yellow golden color with a small white head. Mild malty aroma. The flavor is malty and a bit dry.
3.1 Van ’t vat. Helder blond bier met rijke witte schuimkraag. Geur: moutzoetig, licht kruidig, grassig hoppig. Smaak: moutzoetig en licht bitterig. Lichte koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: zoetig – bitterig.
