2.9 Bottle. Pours a clear, dark ruby colour with little head. Aroma is spice, alcohol, liqorice, dark toffee. Flavour is dark caramel, almost coffee like, spicy, soft bitterness. High carbonation, light body, good mouthfeel. Good.
3.6 Dark ruby-brown with a decent beige head. Aroma: malts. Taste is malts, some licorice, very little bitterness, yet still not too sweet. Good.
3.4 Brown color with a short beige head, aroma is fruity, lightly sour, lightly bitter, ok.
3.8 Degustata in bottiglia. Particolare. Ottima all'apsetto. Brune in stile, schiuma poco persistente. All'olfatto miele di castagno, cioccolato e finocchio selvatico. Al palato subito dolciastra, in bocca dolce persistente. Leggermemte frizzante. Consigliatissima.
3.3 Draught at De Zandloper Taphouse, Bruges, West Flanders, Belgium. Dark ruby brown with cream head. This proved to be quite a sweet beer, malty, fruity with quite a herby, thyme like note. Sugary sweet in the close. It's fine.
3.2 .3l bottle. Coffee coloured pour with thick creamy offwhite head. Head is lasting and medium lacing. Nose is caramel, malt, yeast, coffee, chocolate. Taste is caramel, hop, sugar, wood.
3.5 Brown/red beer, medium fluffy head. Aroma is fruity, malt, caramel, some hops. Taste is the same with some liquorice, ok
3.7 Lovely maltiness, caramel, bread, some dried fruits, bit dusty. Light sweet with light bitterness.
3.1 Aroma: malty with some belgium spice; Appearance: dark amber with thin white head; some lacing; Taste: lightly malty, a little watery, no spice; forgettable but drinkable. Palate: medium body.
3.2 At 't Lusthof, Denderwindeke. Pours hazy dark brown with a red hue and a foamy, tan head. The aroma contains roasted malt, yeast, nuts, spices, caramel, some dark fruits. It tastes light malty/nutty sweet and light to medium spicy bitter; dry and herbal finish. Medium body, slick/creamy texture, soft carbonation. Cliché brown Belgian beer, but to be preferred over its blond counterpart.
3.4 33 cl bottle bought from supermarket. Pours unclear black color with medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, some raisins, light yeast. Taste is rather sweet, floral, caramel, candy sugar. Light to medium body, average carbonation, light sweet finish. Overall a good Belgian beer.
2.5 Appearance: dark ruby, Brown, clear. good off white head. Aroma: light dark malts, light yeast aromas. Palate: medium light mouthfeel, high carbonation. Taste: light raisin, plums, fruits. light bitterness and alcohol warmth on aftertaste
3.3 Barwa ciemna. Piana szybko opda. Aromat słabo intensywny. Karmel, nuty chlebowe. W smaku podobnie. Goryczka niska. Pijalne.
3.1 A bottle from Beers of Belgium drunk at Dad’s place while home on leave. Aroma: leather. Appearance: very dark brown, minimal tan head. Palate: medium-bodied and creamy, average carbonation, sweet and roasted flavours at the finish. Taste: medium sweet, not bad.
3.3 Donkerbruin bier met crème kleurige schuimkraag. Geur: moutzoetig, karamel, Smaak: karamel, melkchocolade. Medium volmondig. Medium koolzuurprikkel.
3.2 Deep brown. Tall beige head. Aroma: Caramel, bread. Strange phenols. Medium body. Phenolic and estery taste. Not a favourite of mine.
3.2 Keg at six degrees north Edinburgh. Pours deep ruby, nose is caramel, toffee, floral, taste is sweet, chewy, burnt toffee, floral.
3.4 F: huge, pale tanned, good retention. C: dark, opaque. A: malt, dark fruits, cocoa, chocolate, hint of coffee, brown sugar, hint of spicy. T: malt, cocoa, dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, yeast, hint of spicy, nutty tones, molasses, medium body, medium carbonation, quite good balanced but nothing really memorable, 0,33l bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck.
3.2 on tap at le saint-bock, mtl. unclear medium dark brown pour with a small reviving light beige cap offering some retention and lacing. fruity peppery caramel, some complexity and without being overwhelming though; sweetish nuts, grassy and herbal noble-like hops; sweet coffee, slightly earthy grinds, fruity yet not clean belgian yeastiness - some soap and metal traces. moderate carbonation - could be brighter; light to medium body - oily; semi-sweet grassy-earthy finish. o-k bruin belgian - a lot less refined than its blond brother.
2.6 Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is brown malt, caramel, candy sugar, raisins. Flavour is sugary sweet with and light bitter. Body is just about medium, slightly thinnish for the style, with lively carbonation. Bit too much like sugary caramel water to be enjoyable.
3.2 Taste starts of with caramel malts but then mostly candi sugar. Mouthfeel a little oily but over-carbonated for my taste. Looks fine and has a nice aroma. Not a bad brew but it’s rather boring and by no means anything special.
3.8 The smell is odd, a bit like asparagus. But it’s a delicious dark ale with a sweetness, nuttiness but also a nice bitterness. Well worth trying though maybe not the first of the night.
3.5 33cl bottle. Pours hazy dark orange brown colour with a huge good lasting tan head. Aroma of dark malt, dark fruits, wood. Taste of dark malt, dark riped fruits, berries, plums, bread, some chocolate, interesting!
3.3 Draft at Gollem’s Beers and Burgers, Antwerp. Pours dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, spice and yeast. Taste follows nose. Faint metallic notes. Decent.
3.5 Bottle bought at some supermarket. Caramel, malts, light alcohol, fair enough,
