Paulaner Original Münchner Urtyp 1634

Paulaner Original Münchner Urtyp 1634

The Original Münchner Urtyp is another Münchner Original, a traditional tasty pleasure. A bit stronger and darker than the Original Münchner it has a convincingly noble malt aroma with a well-rounded bitter taste. In order to survive long transportation, it used to be brewed with a higher content of basic ingredients. Today this strong export beer is particularly popular at many of the public fairs from spring until autumn.

2.7 From old tasting notes. Deep gold color with a thick white head. Sweet malty nose. Dryish malt flavor upfront. Slight herbal bitter hop finish. Nothing special.
2.6 0.5 l bottle from local ’trinkgut’ as ’Paulaner Münchner Urtyp’, best before March 2018. Clear, pale golden yellow with a medium large, dense, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly grassy-spicy aroma of grains, some straw and a touch of butter. Sweetish, slightly malty, a bit grassy-spicy taste of grains, straw and some butter, followed by a short, slightly bitter, moderately grassy-spicy and minimally metallic finish with unpleasant yeasty notes. Almost medium-bodied, quite smooth and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Drinkable, but tastes rather cheap, not very clean and quite a letdown to be honest, especially considering that this bottle is fairly fresh.

2.9 On tap, from the wood, Muenchner Stubn. Rich golden colour, white foam. Grainy, with ever so slight hints of fruit in the finish. Medium hop bitterness, bit spicy, short finish. Nothing special.
3.0 Bottle in Diessen. Clear yellow golden with a nice white head. Aroma of a grainy malt and herbs. Sweetish, malty, grassy, light corn notes, oveall quite clean flavors, mild herbal bitterness. Light-medium bodied, smooth. Decent.
3.1 Bottle from Trinkgut in Kleve or Goch, not for sure. The beer is yellow to golden colored and has a small head, with average carbo. The aroma is malty and fruity, with tones of grass, citrus and grains. The taste is light sweet and malty, has some nice fruit and grain notes and changes into a herbal and grassy bitterness. The finish is light dry and bitter.
1.4 Bottle sample at DSG’s 10K rating celebration tasting at Dancing Camel, Tel Aviv. Thanks avrashi. Clear light yellow with white head. Aroma of corn and honey. The flavor is oxidised with notes of corn and honey.
1.5 At a tasting, thanks Oren for this bizzare experience, smallish bubbly head, clear deepish yellow color, strong honey aroma with cardboard and stale waffle, honeycomb flavor. Much too old but still barley drinkable.
3.1 Pale golden colour with thin head. Nice, grainy aroma and taste with a refreshing bitterness.
2.6 Bottle sample at a tasting at Tempo. Thanks avrashi. Clear pale gold and headless. Cardboard sweetness and a little grassy aroma, sweet and watery taste, then light bitterness. Very light body, soft fizz, bitter finish.
3.1 Bottle sample at a tasting at Tempo. Thanks avrashi. As Paulaner Münchner Urtyp. Clear golden. Aroma of grains, malt, grass. Sweetish flavor with malt, graininess, a faint cardboard hint, and a bitterish grassy/herbal finish. Light to medium-bodied.
3.1 50 cl. bottle. Clear golden colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, fruit, hops and bitterness.
3.2 Keg at Paulaner, Stuttgart, 08/02/15. Clear golden blonde with a decent off white covering. Nose is lemon rind, vanilla essence, bread dough, caramel, nutty. Taste comprises noble malts, caramel, fruit notes, grassy. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough fayre.
3.0 Bottle; pours clear gold with a white head; malty aroma with a hint of hops; taste is slightly sweet malt with a hint of fruit and hops; has dry and slightly bitter finish; fairly standard Helles
2.9 Clear dark yellow, frothy lacing white foam head. Barley aroma and taste, bit crisp in mouth. Not bad, not outstanding. Good beer. (Velp 201502)
3.2 A pale gold coloured beer with a frothy white head. A strong malt aroma with elements of red fruit and a hint of bread. Dry mouthfeel. The taste leads with a smooth malt flavour, and a touch bready. This is followed by a sharp fruity bitterness that adds a refreshing finish.
3.0 Nice bitterness... czech hops... no head... malty bitter finish... nice stingy carbs
2.9 Aroma: grain and bread malts. Appearance: clear gold, medium, creamy, white head. Taste: light bitter and sweet. Palate: initial sweets persist, intense grain, bread, light carbonation, quite short duration, quite bitter. Overall: OK Helles, refreshing taste, but quite boring style. Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn.
2.3 Pale yellow clear body with white medium head. Aromas hops, malts and grains. Palate thin with lively carbonation and mouth feel. Aftertaste grassy notes, malts and some weak hops finish. Average Helles/Urtyp/etc. Typical mild malty south German lager with off-putting sweet finish.
2.6 Just an ordinary German lager beer. Bit grainy and mildly hoppy, nothing special going on, just decent.
2.7 Flasche.
2.6 Clear golden body and a small diminishing rocky white head. Aroma of malt and yeast. The taste is sweet and slightly bitter in the finish. Light body.
Geruch malzig, getreidig, leicht herb. Geschmack malzig würzig, getreidig, minimale Bitterkeit.
2.2 A nice, clear, yellow lager-like colored beer with a nice foamy top. It has a hint of banana in the aroma. It tastes somewhat "flat" and water-like, but it does have a somewhat malt-like taste in the background. The aftertaste is subtile-bitter.
