A dark brown color, with a balanced aroma of roasted malts and Northwest-grown hops. The sweetness of the ale, crystal, and chocolate malts blend beautifully with the assertive flavors of Cascade and Mt. Hood hops.

3.4Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of caramel, cocoa, toasted malt and light yeast. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of caramel, toasted malt and light cocoa with a crisp lingering caramel finish.
2.622oz bottle at The Bayou
Clear dark reddish brown with a small beige head, light lacing. Aroma is nutty and bitter chocolate. Flavors of toasted malts, chocolate, yeasty with a mild bitter finish
Didn’t finish the glass, I wouldn’t order another
3.4Tap at Pelican Brewing in Tillamook. Pours clear brown with red hues and off-white head. Aroma is extreme caramel, chocolate, sweet malts. Taste is very chocolate, bitter, a lil dirty barley. Overall, decent.
4.0(bottle) What a surprise! A big punch of roasted malts and a lovely hot of green hoppyness in this that makes it from the first mouthful a bit of a pleasant experience. Unfortunately the bottle I have was right at the edge of it’s "enjoy by" date. I sit here thinking that the fresh version must be a real eye-popper of a drink.
3.7Bottle (22oz $5): pours a clear ruby brown with one finger light tan head. I got very little aroma. Tasted is subtle toasted malt with slight bitterness. Body is between light and medium as is carbonation. Very drinkable and relatively inexpensive. Could be a regular, but wish they had them in 12oz.
3.7Subdued aroma is followed by an enjoyable sour-malt flavour and subtle bitter finish. A good example of the style.
3.2Brown ales are usually a bit bland but this one isnt too bad. Toffee biscuit rich malty taste. Minimal hops. Good winter beer. Well made.
4.2Not bad at all. My bottle says "American Brown Ale," and I’m not sure exactly what this means. More hoppy, perhaps, than the Euro varieties. Not as much malt forward. Quite good.
2.9At prewpub in Tillamook with Taylor, Stephen, and Dina. Pours dark maroon bronze, almost no head. Aroma is amber malt, nutty, some ronch. Taste is dirty red malt, some musky, meh.
4.0Enjoy by July 27, 2014.
It pours brown with reddish highlights, a good 2 finger head of foam that shrinks slowly, leaving almost a complete layer on top of the beer.
The smell is a mix of roasted malt, a hoppy bitterness that almost borders on being fruity, and some notes of sweet malt.
In the taste, there seems to be a nice balance amongst the smells I noted above. It’s very smooth and tasty and very easy to drink. I just reviewed another Brown Ale that was more assertive with the hop bitterness and I liked it a lot, but this is JUST as enjoyable, in different ways.
On the light side of medium bodied, on the lower side of medium carbonation, the mouthfeel is good.
A very nice well made brown Ale. I enjoyed it.
3.1Poured from tap to glass. Deep copper brown hue with white head that dissipated to a ring. Aroma is malt, caramel, mineral, biscuit, honey. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium light body and zesty carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness with an astringent following and clean finish. Overall a decent brew.
3.6Bottle shared by Dan. Taste is a light chocolate brownie. Slightly toasty as it warms. Light on the mouthfeel. Above average brown ale.
3.522 ounce bottle. Pours reddish brown with a nice tan head. Aroma of malt, fruit, and caramel. Taste is roasted malt, fruit, caramel, chocolate, and floral. Very nice.
3.8Bottle. Pours a mostly clear dark brown color with a smallish off white head. Nose has some nice toast and caramel in there, and is rather inviting. Taste is nice and toasty with just a bit of sweetness and bitterness. Really pleasant.
2.6translucent chestnut, cream ring. Stale grain and marshmallow sugar nose, burnt roast acidity blurring details. Flavor is equally flat, front showing brown sugar and grain before caramel mid, sweet and lightly syrupy through the light plastic end, faintly burnt.
3.6Draught at the Tap Room in Tillamook. Gentle roast malt nose with yeast. Glowing reddish/brown, tan head, good lace. Very good roast malt initial / goes creamy and then suddenly the malt erupts / grass, mild chocolate, and cookies in finish. Medium body. Very smooth and flavorful. This is a very good one, in what is usually a fairly boring style. The best of the seven brews -- except for the Tsunami Stout -- I tried at Pelican.
4.1Pint pour on draught. Dark brown with orange highlights and off-white head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavor of roasted malts, medium bitterness, and ricg underlying sweetness as the glass warms. Very nice. Definitely worth drinking again.
3.8Medium brown. Rich and smooth texture; mild carbonation; really nice mouthfeel. Chewy-sweet malts with a lot of toast & roast. Mild coffee and dark chocolate. Complementing bitterness plus some background hop aromas. Nice flavors of toast linger. Enjoyable beer.
3.3On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear, rubied brown with a lacy off-white head. Caramel-laden floral nose. Caramel and some chocolate with a dry and lightly bitter finish.
3.0Aroma was great. Didn't have the lingering sweetness usually expected in a Brown. Just fell short in the finish, being thin and lacking character.
3.3Shared bottle. Amber with quickly diminishing cap. Aroma of nuts, dark straw malt. Taste is soft sour dark malt. Roasty. Thins out dramatically. Too bad.
3.6Tap at Pelican brewpub. Pours a clear, cola brown. Medium foam with webby lacing. Nose is strawberry, sweet, moves to richer hazelnut and mild coffee roast. Taste is roasty, nutty, muted hop balance, mild bitter soil and earth. Slicker, oily palate. Really fantastic for style. This brewery knows how to execute the beer styles that are frequently overlooked.
3.7On tap at the brewery. Clear chestnut pour with a tan head. Solid roast aroma with caramel and biscuit flavors.
2.6Deep amber brown pour with a small white head. Aroma is grape cough syrup and light toasted malts. Flavor presents itself much better with toffee, light powdery chocolate and earthiness. Medium bodied with touch of sweetness. Pass.
3.2Pours a translucent reddish brown from the bottle with thin tan head and light lacing. Aroma is medicinal, kind of like a grape cough syrup with a toasted malt back. Taste is much better than the nose, like a lagered brown, with a bubbly sweet mouth. Meh.
3.6Bomber from Portland grocery. Pours dark brown with thin head...minimal lacing. Hints of chocolate / Caramel in nose and initial taste. Good to great brown ale.
3.9On tap. Dark amber/copper with a thin tan head. Scent is sweet malts, caramel and bread. Taste is caramel, nuts, roast and bitter in the finish. Nice.
3.8Pours a clear dark brown body with a tall, long lasting, frothy off-white head.
Nutty aroma with caramel and a hint of smoke.
The flavor is nutty and sweet on the front with a nice hop bitterness on the backside.
Nice medium palate.
3.5Pours a nice finger of tan head on a clear, brown body.
Aroma is a faint toasted malt.
The taste is a roasted malt throughout, a little nutty and mild bitterness in the finish.
Smooth texture, moderate carbonation and medium body.
Great flavor and balance throughout. The smell was the only letdown for being so faint.
3.5On tap at the brewery. Appeared very nice. Smell not so strong, taste good although I would have liked it a bit colder than served.
