Perennial Prodigal

Perennial Prodigal

Prodigal is an imperial oatmeal milk stout with a massive fudge and roast malt character. It’s a foundation for some of our favorite stouts, now here to stand on its own adorned with only a handful of cacao nibs and Madagascar vanilla beans to round out the edges.

3.8 Can from Beergium. Pours black color with tan head. Aroma is a lot of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, then some roasted maltiness. 4.3 De tercertiempocervezas. En copa Teku. Con almendras + pipas de calabaza. Jugando a Toki y luego a Skyland.
3.5 On tap at Taps. Black with tan head. Roasted malts, sweet chocolatey notes, fudge, vanilla, cacao with a bitter finish
3.8 2018 Bottle from Beergium. Dark brown with faint, beige head. Burned marshmallows and cotton candy upfront, then layers of fudge and coffee and touch of vanilla. A little bit simplistic, but nice depth of flavor.
3.8 Draft. A black beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, vanilla, and cacao. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, vanilla, caramel, and cacao, leading to a bitter finish.
4.0 Tap at BSTS. Dark brown color with beige head. Coffee, chocolate, licorice. Taste, chocolate, coffee, nougat, nuts, vanilla. Nice.
4.2 Tap at Beer Stars 2/2020. Commercial description is pretty spot on. I get a bit of peaty smoke on top of all, but it may only be a fata morgana. Loads of chocolate, cocoa, rather soft roast, but also a bit of coffee. Very tasty, smooth, ABV hidden very well. Very good.
4.2 Tap at Beer Stars. Malty aroma and taste, cocoa, light coffee and roasty notes, vanilla, light sweet, medium bitter. Full body, malty cocoa and vanilla bitter sweet finish. Very good.

4.0 473mL can @ home. Pours an opaque oily black with a small tan head. Nose is medium roasted malt, light oatmeal, and a touch of cocoa nibs. Flavour is very rich, bold toasted malts, ample cocoa nibs, lots of oats, and a light vanilla finish. Full bodied, soft carbonation, and a moderaetly high sweetness with a light warming character. Quite nice!

Alcoholwarmte. M: Volmondig met een lichte carbonatie. Sticky.
4.0 Lactose, vanille, chocolade, scherp alcoholisch, gebrande mouten, fudge, koffie, romig door de havermout, stevig zoet, dropwater, chewy
3.8 Can 1 pint. Pours an opaque black with a creamy, light brown head. Subtle vanilla in the nose. Rich, sweet, creamy body, sweet roast, again vanilla with the lactose adding it's soothing edge. Roast is rather dominant and almost coffeeish in its character. So kinda yin and yangish with two sides clashing: the harsh and the mellow. Warming alcohol finish. 061219
4.3 Beautiful oily texture on this heavily roasted stout. Oatmeal brings the texture to next level and milk and vanilla brings the needed sweet element.
3.7 Draft at #WMCBF. Poured black with thin brown cap. Dark thick chocolate cocoa notes. Thick
4.2 black with a small head.Lovely chocolate, coffee and vanilla flavours merge to produce a stout with an undeniable presence. A wonderful example of this style and a complete pleasure to drink. A new brewery for me.
4.2 Silky near black, with a creamy dark tan head. Fudgy, also vanilla, molasses, hint of black licorice. Tasty. Can from Tavour.
3.8 Can (16oz). Black with thin brown head. Roasty aroma. Taste is mostly chocolate and a little vanilla. Full body. Nice.
4.7 Wygląda jak ciastko czekoladowe. Ogromna, brązowa piana, czarny kolor. W aromacie palone toffi, karmel, marcepan, kawa arabica, czekolada gorzka, migdał. W smaku palone toffi na pierwszym planie, sporo nut kawowych, czekoladowych, migdałowych, słodycz umiarkowana, gęstość spora. Niskie nagazowanie. Mocno marcepanowy posmak. Alkohol świetnie zakamuflowany. Przepiękne piwo.
4.0 Piwo czarne jak smoła z pianką w kolorze kawy z mlekiem. W aromacie kakao, czekolada, ciasto czekoladowe, odrobina mleczno-śmietankowych niuansów i wanilia. Alkohol w sumie dobrze schowany, potężne ciało, gęsta i oleista faktura, wysycenie niskie. Typowe piwo na dłuższe posiedzenie, intensywne i ciężkie. Mi smakuje.
4.5 Pint can. Rich chocolate malt aroma with notes of roasted malt, lactose sugar, vanilla and some dark fruit. Pours deep brown with a thin mocha brown head that has little retention or lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt, fudgy chocolate and dark fruit flavors as well as having a rich, full body and slick, viscous mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with lactose sugar and vanilla flavors. Fantastic stout!
Zapach mało wyrazisty - głównie mleczna czekolada, kawa, odrobina wanilii i lukrecji. W smaku słodkie, kakaowe, czekoladowe, karmelowe, kojarzące się z lodami Grycan, wanilii mało, fajna, solidnie goryczkowa, palona kontra. Wysycenie niskie do średniego, drobne, kłujące, gęste, pełne w odbiorze, rozgrzewający finisz. Fajne body, fajne w smaku, ale aromat i pływające farfocle do poprawy.
4.5 Inky black pour with a foamy khaki head. Semisweet nose of black malt and rich cocoa and roast and a touch of cream. Big full palate that’s warm and cocoa’d and complex. Roasty and just a little earthy with sweet chocolate and a whisper of vanilla and a lingering black malty roasty finish. Really great stout.
