Perrin No Rules Vietnamese Porter

Perrin No Rules Vietnamese Porter

NO RULES were followed throughout the creation of this product. This 15% Imperial Porter was made with coconut and turbinado sugar then laid down and aged in bourbon barrels for several months. With a classic film reference weaved into the label art, we hope you enjoy this product as much as we did making it. A generous donation will be made to The Raider Project for each bottle sold to thank them for what they do for our Marine Veterans.

3.1 1/12/2017 -- from notes: 22oz bottle, from Dutch's. Shared with Steph. Back color, minimal ring of khaki head. Really rich, intense aroma. Big maple syrup, steph says that's almost all she gets. Pretty impressive. We had this back to back with the Bruery 9 Ladies Dancing, this is definitely more heavy and intense. Steph wishes this had a little bit more carbonation -- it is a bit oily. Some of that coconut, little roast malt, some mild chocolate, little molasses. Bigger sweet taste, at first short of cloying... As I had more though the sweetness got to be a bit intense. Some warmth, mild alcohol bite. Nice one to split and share while we had sandwiches & sweet potatoe fries & Black Mirror. Definitely a desert beer, with a level of sweetness similar to Grand Marnier. I started off with a higher score, but lowered it as the beer started to drag on me. Half the amount I had would have been more enjoyable. I do respect the long, oddly maple-syrupy aftertaste though. Maple syrup in the same way that the Taft's Mt Auburn brown is maple syrupy -- neither have maple syrup, but the flavor is really reminiscent. Overall though, it seems big just for the sake of being big. A beer should be palatable and this isn't very. Reminds me of Dark Lord. In the end we had to give up on it. Fuck shit like this.
3.8 12/7/17: Monk's Pub 10 oz pour into snifter. Dark black pour, bourbon aroma. Rye, bourbon, somewhat sweet taste, chocolate subtle. Thin, mild carbonation, very smooth going down. Overall good beer!
5.0 I drink it with a water chaser. To get a second 7 oz pour down. It’s liquid candy. Great beer to do shots with.
3.9 Dark brown, nice boozy, bit choc nose, sweet, lush sugars, light fruit, Spice is well balanced.
4.4 Bottle at Black Christmas 2017 Black color. Nice coconut and chocolate aroma. Rich chocolate flavor, sweet, full bodied, with warming alcohol. It's like boozy Bounty Bar, delicious.
4.5 Alkohol: 15% obj. Butelka: 650 ml Dodatki: Cukier kokosowy i cukier Turbinado z trzciny cukrowej Kolor: Ciemnobrunatny, nieprzejrzysty. Piana: Drobniutka, beżowa, słaba od samego początku. Głośny syk zwiastuje szybko znikającą pianę. Milimetrowy krążek ucieka w zaskakującym tempie. Brak również nawet najmniejszych zdobień na kielichu. Zapach: Przecudowny aromat! Intensywnie słodki, wielowarstwowy. Wyraźnie czuć cukier trzcinowy, pralinki czekoladowe i mocno posłodzoną kawę. Piwo leżakowało w dębowych beczkach po bourbonie. Przesiąkło nutami mokrego drewna i beczkowej wanilii. Smak: W smaku słodziutkie, pełne i bogate. W pierwszej kolejności czuć dodany do piwa cukier kokosowy. Siedzisz i sączysz, a z każdym łykiem odkrywasz coś nowego. Majstersztyk! Wysycenie: Niskie. Podsumowanie: Perrin No Rules to 15%-wy Imperialny Porter stworzony z myślą o przekraczaniu zasad i barier w piwowarstwie craftowym. Cukier kokosowy i Turbinado wniosły niesamowite nuty smakowo-zapachowe. Niepowtarzalny Imperial Porter! Taki na miarę Omnipollo Lorelai BA.
4.0 Bottle at Mikeys Christmas party Black with a small tan head, some lacing. Lots of coconut, dark malts and chocolate Well balanced.
4.2 A pour from the bottle (thx, Kory V.!) on Black Christmas V. Pours a dark brown with almost no head. Aroma is very nicr with chocolate, bourbon, and coconut. Taste is similar, quite sweet, very fruity. Nice one.
4.0 Bomber pours an opaque dark brown/black with tiny beige head and a couple spots of lacing. Aroma is dominated by coconut, with plenty of brown sugar, vanilla, and oak. Taste is very sweet with a boozy finish. Body is full with soft carbonation and an oily mouthfeel. This one is a sipper -could be a good dessert beer. Having experienced this once, I'd do it again only at half price.
4.2 Near black pour with a thin khaki head that fades down to a skinny ring. Oily lacing. Aroma is strong coconut, chocolate syrup, marshmallow, and vanilla. Taste is chocolate syrup, creme brulee, bourbon, raisin, and oak. Sweet and boozy. Full sticky body.
3.9 23-09-17 // bottle shared at Zwanze Day 2017 @ Mon Petit Café Stuttgart. Thanks for sharing! Roasted malts, roasted coffee, sweetness, coconut, Bourbon Barrel.
4.0 At Hopishop 2017. Aroma of chocolate, coconut, cacao and some sweet roasted malt. Taste has chocolate, earthy coconut, cacao powder, vanilla, cream and sweet-ish roasted malt. Nice and flavorful, but somehow I expected even more from it.
3.5 Bourbon barrel aged coconut porter of unusual strength even for an imperial one. Medium thick, lightly lacing, yellowish beige head, very dark burgundy brown robe, approaching black. Aroma of coconut candy, toffee, dried figs, molten chocolate, treacle, brown sugar, candied dates, brown rum but also a very unpleasant slurry pit-like odour - this clearly harbours sone kind of infection, sadly. Sweet onset, candied figs topped with treacle, light sourish and umami accents. Lots of residual brown sugar and big coconut flavourings penetrate a sweet caramelly and chocolatey malt body; Bounty candy- and even marzipan-like notes linger with some hoppy spiciness and the obvious rum-like booze, yet the latter manages to behave surprisingly decent - I would never have suspected such a towering ABV in this. A lovely idea - accentuating the (admittedly largely arbitrary) distinction between imperial stout and imperial porter with extra sugar and coconut sweetness. Would have been a fantastic dessert beer if it weren't for that off-putting slurry pit-like aspect in the nose, which prevents me from granting it a top score.
4.6 Donkerbruin, fijne crèmekleurige schuimkraag. Koffie, chocolade, rozijntjes, donker fruit, eik, bruine suiker. Zacht van smaak, mooie afdronk. abv goed weggestopt. Prachtig bier.
3.8 Bottle at Mon Petit Cafe, Stuttgart. Aroma is sweet alcohol, moss, mould, chocolate with coconuts. Extremely sweet, raw sugar feeling. Nice coconuts and caramel.
4.0 Bottle @ Dunkbar. Thanks to Orla , Rekvium and Vindueskigger. Pours Black with a creamy head. Lots of coconut and milky chocolate. Slick and warming. Bordering to become swedish But Quite Tasty. Good Roast!
4.1 Bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of licorice, roast, coconut, molasses, slight choko, slight herbal, bourbon, vanilla. Taste is sweet loads of bourbon and coconut, sweet, loads of molasses. Good stuff
4.1 Bottle @ THT. Every label with a Big Lebowski reference gets insta positvity points from me. Not needed for this one though. Pours a pich black beer with a medium sized beige head on top. Aroma of chocolate and coco, sugary malts, some coffee notes in there. Very complex in the nose. Flavor is more straight forward though. Lots of chocolate, coco notes, light woody notes and lots of sugary influences. Awesome balance, awesome flavors and awesome label. Great stuff!!
3.5 Poured into a wineglass showing lightly filtered caramel brown with no head. The nose shows subtle molasses and light dark chocolate. The palate is full bodied and lightly carbonated with a moderate alcoholic spiciness. Moderately sweet showing brown sugar and caramel throughout with a subtle coffee bitterness with more sweetness on the finish.
3.2 2016 release with purple ball. cognac snifter glass. cloying sweet. had to put it in the freezer to finish the shared bottle. aroma was just sweet chocolate. taste was better with some barrel coming through. no coconut whatsoever though. too thick and syrupy unfortunately. good as a dessert when not having more than 3-4 oz.
4.1 Shared at the August THT. Pours black with a tan head. Thick vanilla, cocoa nibs, sweet chocolate.
4.1 THT August at Kwartje. Sampled from bottle. Black with white head. Massive cinnamon candy stick. Massive sweet and moderate bitter. Full body and soft carbonation.
4.0 Great porter. Strong coffee notes with a mix of chocolate. It's boozy at 15% ABV, but you wouldn't know it because it's really smooth. Overall a great brew.
3.3 Pours a black color with no head. Mostly bourbon aroma. Slick mouth feel. Sugary. Tobacco. Coconut. Bourbon. Very boozy. Licorice once warm.
2.9 22oz (Guys’ Night)- Midnight black with lacing leaving quickly. Lots and lots of coconut and vanilla in nose. Same in the taste... really sweet and chocolatey but very very boozy. Too heavy and sweet.
3.6 Bomber via trade. This is for you Dude.
4.1 Draft in a snifter. Chocolate brown with small tan head. Hint of booze on the nose but mostly chocolate and coconut. Surprisingly smooth. Palate has bourbon, chocolate, coconut, vanilla, espresso, molasses, and more. It was excellent but the 6 ounces I had was enough for me.
4.1 Pours a thick black from the bottle with bubbly tan brown head that dissipates to leave light lace. Aroma of deep roasted coffee notes and nice sweetened condensed milk middle that falls to vanilla and booze. Taste is even more of the Vietnamese coffee for sure, with good barrel notes behind, booze and barrel. Flavors are spot on, its just a bit big for me.
3.9 22oz bottle. Black with a thin ring of tan foam. Flavors are roasted cereals, brown sugar, coconut, vanilla, bourbon and chocolate. Full body, soft to moderate carbonation, oily texture. Overly sweet.
3.9 Pours very dark brown. Small white head. Smell is full, bitbsweet, very hidden coconut. Taste is full, intense grainy notes, silky coconut subtile touches. So nice balance ! Def on the sweet side, nice !
