The key ingrediant to a good summer is a great brew! Born to play, Pete’s Wicked Rally Cap Ale is crafted with a special blend of pale and wheat malts, Mt. Hood hops and a smack of natural lemon.

3.3Kicking off the summer of 2009 with some summer ales. This one has a pale orange color with a white head. Aroma of citrus hops and tea. Flavor is sweet and also has hints of orange. Palate is mainly sweet, with some citrus hops in the finish. Overall taste has hints of sweet tea.
2.0ahhh! save me from the wee turtles! they were to quick for me!! ... . pours a murky tan pond water .. . muddled sweetness in the nose .. . lacks any real enjoyable flavors, muddled confusing, tastes like a sweat sock on a sunny day .. .
2.912oz bottle. Pours a light copper color with a thick white head. The Aroma of wheat, lemon, hops, and hints of yeast. The tastes is mellow with a hint of yeast, malt, lemon and slight hint of cereal. The finish is slightly bitter but smooths out. One of my favorite easy to come by summer brews.
2.312oz bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Clear yellow with a medium white head. Sweet malty aroma. Carbonation is pretty strong. Flavor of some wheat and lemon.
2.4Pours yellow with a thin head. Aromas of grassy hops and lemon. Flavor is lemony and fairly weak. Might be good on a hot day.
2.1Pours gold with a thin white head. Smells of pronounced citrus. Tastes like lemon drink with some dry maltiness on the finish.
2.1Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Sweet malt and wheaty, a note of lemon and citrus. Not very good.
2.8From a 12oz bottle this beer pours a light golden color with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Scent of lemon and hops. Citrusy taste with a pretty light body - not much bite or aftertaste. Pretty easy drinking and worth knocking back a couple after some yard work. Picked up a couple cases of this at Sams Quik Mart in Durham NC for cheap money - which is all I would suggest spending on it.
2.9Bottle from Beverage House. Smells like a lemony Sam Adams - tastes like an Arnold Palmer in beer form. Light, lemony... I think that’s it.
2.5This had a little bit too much lemon flavor to it. At first it seemed very watery but I did get a hint of some spices after a little while.
2.8Pours a golden-orange color. Aroma is light, wheaty, and has a bit of a caramel hint to it. Flavor is balanced, with a good wheat flavor. light lemon notes....not really overwhelming. Solid brew, but nothing special.
2.7Poured from bottle. Malty aroma with a bit of gas. A dark gold/amber, head slowly dissipates. Slightly bubbly feel. Actually sweeter that I thought it would be. Maybe lemon peel notes in aftertaste. Loses something at finish. A bit disappointing.
2.825-Aug-08 (12-oz bottle: Free sample bottle for stewarding the 2008 World Beer Cup in San Diego, CA) Hey, free beer is free beer, even when it’s Rally Cap Ale. And actually, I’m glad I found this in one of my mystery boxes because I expected a throw-away, but really, this beer isn’t that bad, and I suspect the bottle I tasted four years ago was probably a bit on the old side. The beer was entered into the Golden or Blonde Ale category, and it fits quite well. Grainy, lightly sweet malts are first balanced in the entry by a touch of hops, and then in the evolution by light citrus, but the malt carries the beer into the finish, tasting a bit corny and showing a trace of oxidative doughiness. Not enough to ruin the beer though, so in the end, this beer tastes okay. The nose is mostly malty, a little grainy and bready, slightly sweet-smelling and gently citrusy, but no hops. Smooth and easy on the palate with soft, moderate carbonation, it’s content to not challenge the palate in any way, and for the intended audience, that’s okay. Dark-golden in color with perfect clarity and a smattering of tiny carbonation bubbles rising slowly through the beer. The inch-tall head pours off-white in color and gradually subsides to a thin but complete layer while leaving small patches of lace on the glass. Overall, it’s not very interesting, it’s just a fine, easy drinking beer best served well-chilled at your outdoor party.
17-Jul-04 (12 oz bottle) Generic, boring, bland, blah beer that will never be placed into my shopping basket again. This is just a small step above the mass-produced American lagers. Mildly sweet and slightly malty, with minimal hops or bitterness, and a slight lemon zest toward the finish, it’s really more of a woody, cardboard taste though. The nose is rather vague, pretty much just the bland aroma of an American lager. Light to medium bodied on the palate, but a bit thin and watery. The color is a crystal clear pale yellow. Off-white head is smallish on the pour and fades to a sheen fairly quickly. Some sporadic lacing here and there. (4, 2, 4, 2, 8 = 2.0)
3.0Bottle. Pours a clear sunshine gold with a smallish white head. The aroma is almost like a meadow and some citrus. Flavor is bright, with a bit of sweetnes that is brought under control by the hops. Thin mouthfeel, with some fizz. Not a bad summer beer. I’d like to pair this brew with hotdogs grilled in the backyard (mustard and onions added), plus a spinach salad and a bunch of friends.
3.0Thanks to my brother Mario for a bottle of this one--Poured a hazy golden-amber body with a medium-sized white head. Grassy, earthy, mildly spiced hops aroma. Fizzy, citrus and biscuit nose. Sweet and mildly bitter finish. Sessionable.
2.6Drank it from the bottle--just didn’t even feel like pouring it into a glass. This is the kind of beer made to be drunk from the bottle, you know? Pale lager taste with some hops on the back end with a lemony zip as well. Tastes a bit watery, but really easy to drink. Give me a boat, a 90 degree day, and some sunshine, and I could drink 8 of these suckers. Otherwise, meh...
2.612 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy bright gold with a moderate white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass. Light aroma of grassy hops and citrus. To be specific, the citrus reminded me of Sprite. The flavor is very weak malt up front followed by a wash of lightly sweet Sprite. Light bitterness at the finish. Thin, watery mouthfeel. Dull and uninteresting. Yet another winner from the folks at Matt.
3.3THOUGHTS: Reminded me of a simpler Sweaty Betty. A little thicker than a lot of summer beers. This just proves you don’t need to be watery to be a refreshing, easy drinking summer beer. It had just the right amount of lemon. It was like adding some lemon to your iced-tea or diet cola, but to your beer. Nice beer, but nothing special. But a wonderful summer beer.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium yellow to light orange with a small to average, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was light caramel malt, slight grassy hops and lemon. The initial flavor was ever so slightly sweet and moderate to heavily acidic; while the finish was lightly sweet, acidic and bitter, and slightly sour with a short to average finish. There was some malt, lemon and a little hops in the finish. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy and then a little dry with fizzy carbonation and a moderate to heavy astringent finish.
2.8Beer and baseball is a classic combo. So much so, in fact, that Colorado’s dedicated major league baseball stadium was named "Coor’s Field" without much of the fuss such corporate namings attract. Pete’s Rally Cap Ale is a different breed, though, and unlikely to challenge the macro dominance in the stadium’s concession stands. Its thin snow white head makes a nice lid for the bubbled, light orange beer. The aroma holds the smell of unripe bananas, malts, caramel, marachino cherry, puffed brown rice and brown sugar. The taste is vibrant and bright, with a clear, ringing malts flavor and the slightly bitter taste of lemon and iced tea. I find it refreshing, but boring and not quite something I’d pair with brats or peanuts.
3.3Pours golden with a healthy white head. Aroma of wheat, and undertones of citrus that are elusive, overall very mild. Crisp on the tongue, this is nicely balanced. A slight bitterness to start, and a dry finish that makes you want more. I can’t say that I detect any lemon flavor, but I do notice the pale and wheat malts. And I suppose the hops start the whole thing. Like I said, very nicely balanced. I am biased though. I’m the only guy that asks for it at the liquor store, so my guy orders it by case for me. Thanks Dave. So I’m in the minority on this one, I think it’s much better than a 23 rating.
1.8Looks like swamp water and tastes like it too. This beer was neither tasty nor refreshing. A poor summer ale.
2.6Clear yellow beer, average carbonatoni. Large off-white head on the pour, turning small shortly. Doughy, bread, sweet, lemon, sugary, malt, wheat aromas. Flavor is dry, wheat, and citrus and a bit dull. Body is medium, and very dry on the tongue.
2.912 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Huntersville, NC. A lightly golden beer with a thin white head. Noble hops aroma, with a hint of toffee. Lightly sweet taste with a bit of citrus. This is better than most of the stuff Matt Brewing labels as beer.
3.0This was smooth, light, and refreshing. I could drink this all afternoon long and I’m thinking about brewing something similar to this myself.
1.6Not a bad summer ale. It’s would best be served when hot and thirsty. Nothing repulsive or unpleasing about the beer at all. Way better than a miller lite or something like that. I think a 23 is a little low, but I guess It is what it is.
3.2This is a pretty good, solid, albeit unspectacular summer Ale. I got to be honest, when I purchsed it, what attracted me was the label (a picture of a baseball player). Ahhh... love baseball season. Golden colored, pours a moderate 1/2 inch head but that fizzles down quite a bit. Wheat characteristics, slight malt and a zing of lemon give it a decent overall summer feel. I haven’t had anything that outstanding from this brewer so I’d say this is on par with the other offerings I’ve had from them.
2.8Bottle. Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Noble hop aroma, with a hint of toffee behind it. Light body with moderate carbonation and watery texture. Lightly sweet taste with a bit of toffee and a hint of citrus. Crisp finish. Seems like an ale that wants to be a pale lager.
2.3it has its moments and a nice light summer zing but the rest falls a bit short, still I am recommending this for a hot sumer day
2.1The aroma has paper, malt, grass, and some lemon. The appearance is dark gold with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall this is not good.
2.912 oz. bottle. Pours a light amber color, head dissipates quickly. Flavor: Just a hint of hops, with a hint of spice.
