2.2 Mild citrus fruitiness to the bland aroma. Clear golden body with white head that recedes to ring. Mildly sweet flavour with light bitterness. In a blind taste-test, I wouldn’t suggest this was a micro-brew product. Strong carbonation. Light body. Sampled in Dallas, 2001. Bottle. Entered from notes.
2.7 [draft at MacGregor’s - Rochester, NY] Didn’t know this was retired. They have quite a few kegs of this left, although I caught the tail end of one. Pale and hazy yellow with a thick white head. Semi-sweet aroma of malts and citrus. The taste is sweet as well, citrus, mainly lemon, with a touch of grains and a slightly dry and crisp finish.
3.3 i useed to love this beer, why did they have to retire it? this was a good light summer brew, poured golden with a medium sized white head that quickly dissapates, good smell of sweet malts, and citrusy lemon, good lemony taste, some carbonation, with a crisp smooth finish.
3.2 It was handed to me, so why not give it a whirl. Sparkling amberish gold, thin white fizzy head. Nose was interesting to say the least with hints of honey, lemon milk, grass, and softer notes of caramel. Flavor was similar and actually grew on me a bit with additional lemon pledge tones, citrus, and wheat. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying, crisp, lemony wheat finish. I wouldn’t buy it personally, but I could easily chug a few of these while mowing the lawn...
3.8 Too bad this was retired... a nice, hoppy brew with just the right hint of lemon make, er, made this one of my favorite summer brews.
2.2 Apparently the brewer found this American wheat too weak to stand on its own, so they actually added lemon after the fact. The result is a nice looking, golden beer that smells like Lemon Pledge. The taste is still just a watery, grainy brew with a poof of lemon. No aftertaste. I can see why this beer was retired. (How old is this bottle that I bought earlier today?)
3.4 Out of the long ago bin, I will rate it as originally perceived: Cloudy yellow in a pilsener glass, frothy white head. Nose is faint wheat and strong citrus. Lemon flavors predominate in the flavor, with some wheat and minimal hops character. Finishes clean with a slight bready aftertaste. Good.
3.3 Nice and refreshing - a good summer beer. You can just make out the hint of lemon.
2.8 (12 oz bottle) More flavorful than your standard "refreshing" summer brew, this is more of an amber lager, than a wheat beer; It has a fairly malty character with a very mild hops, however the supposed lemon flavor is imperceptible, as are the wheat malts being used; Somewhat sweet, especially in the finish which has a honey flavor; There's also a bit of orange citrus as the beer warms; The nose is lightly sweet and malty, again with almost no detectable hops; Medium bodied, with a lasting sweet palate; Deep golden color is quite attractive; Off-white head is gone very quickly, despite the army of quickly-rising carbonation bubbles that dissipate immediately upon reaching the beer's surface; No lacing; Not great, but definitely better than I expected
2.9 Great beer for sitting around on a nice summer day. Refreshing, lemon with a hint of honey flavor. Great after (or during) yardwork.
2.6 A very clean, refreshing beer. Poured a clear gold color, tasted very clean as well, lemony aroma and taste. Smooth mouthfeel with light carbonation. Very good summer brew ... not great, but definitely better than a macro.
2.0 Clear light orange, grainy and malt syrup aromas. Flavor is empty, really nothing but a light grass and wheat note with a caustic moldy flavor.
3.1 Pours canary yellow, with a nice head. Definitel lemony/hoppy taste here. Finishes crisp and refreshing.
3.2 Pale gold with white head. Natural lemon flavor and some citrus hops. One of Pete's best. This beer tastes great cold--the perfect summer beer, just right for relaxing after mowing the lawn.
2.5 Interesting brew we have here. The natural lemon is very good and gives just a hint of citrus flavor to offset the hops. The bottle i tried was older and didnt exactly sample it in the summer....soo im hoping too this upcomming one, and hopefully change my rating on the grounds of a fresher more timely bottle.
2.7 This beer is a catastrophe....the lemon taste is revolting and the carbonation is way overdone...not a good job by the usually consistent pete's
2.0 Pours a light amber with an off-white head. Lemony smell with a slight hop finish.
2.1 Nice, light, refreshing, hot summer day type of brew. Definitely a hint of lemon makes it nice and refreshing.
2.9 Golden amber pour, with a slightly off-white head, diminishing with a slight bit of lace. A lemon, peach(?) and hoppy smell. Overall light body, with a smooth mouthfeel, but a sour aftertaste. A good summer beer, but not an award winner to me.
3.1 I bought this as a discount price, because it is no longer summer.Dark gold in color. Thick head. Lemon and floral smell. moderately bitter. THis is a pretty good summer brew. Time for another one.
2.2 A summer brew that is a little too light in the flavor department. Light grain tastes and some moderate citric bitterness. Bland and fizzy. Sam Adams Summer Ale is a bit better than this.
3.1 Dark golden colour with a dense white head and trillions of small bubbles rising from the bottom. Decent aroma-malt predominant, light hop background and a subtle citrus twang. Light-bodied; Sweet flavour, citrus feeling with a velvety texture. Aftertaste is more malty than hoppy, but left mild. Overall, a decent beer, but nothing great. I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 17-October-2003.
2.6 Not too bad. A little bit citrusy. Definite lemon flavor for the lightness of summer. Haven't tasted it since I was a senior in high school though.
2.7 This brew poured a medium sized head of off white finely sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a softly carbonated transparent amber orangish colored body and a good lacing. It had a medium strength malt hop aroma and a smooth mouthfeel that ended slightly tingly. The malt hop flavor was fairly typical.
3.0 This was an easy, crisp, clean and drinkable beer.It was on the ordinary side, but not that bad.It had small sized off-white head that quickly dissipated. The body was clear with carbonation. The hue was golden and it had a sweet lemony and hoppy nose. The flavor was hoppy and it was bitter tasting from start to finish. It had a smooth, thin, watery texture and a light body. The lacing was fair.
3.0 Basic Beer. Although I read the label and it mentioned lemon. However, it tasted sort of apple-ish to me.
3.0 Golden body and white sudsy head. Spicy and flowery hop aroma plus fruit and wheat. Well-balanced and subdued malt-hop profile with some lemony flavor and sourness. Very clean and crisp and therefore easy to drink. An easy-to-drink summer brew that’s worth pulling out of a friend’s cooler during his kid’s 3rd birthday party.
3.0 Light copper to golden colored with a thin, fizzy, white head that does not linger. Slightly lemony aroma with a touch of wheatiness. It has a light body with moderate carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. The flavor is lemony and sweet up front with a crisp, wheat tinged finish. A good summer brew, refreshing and thirst quenching.
2.5 Pretty normal. A bit fruity in the taste. Made for a good session beer with some out of towners but thats about it.
2.3 A pretty unremarkable beer. The taste rminded me of malt liquor as I got to the bottom of the bottle and it warmed. We all know that ain't good. Not good, but not real objectionable; I'd drink it if someone else bought.
