Petrus Aged Pale

Petrus Aged Pale

Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels.
Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

3.2 5oz pour at Max's Brussels Fest 2021, pours gold with a little lacey, wispy white head. Nose of candy, some funk, rotting lemons, oak. This is a mother beer, huh? Flavor is lemony, tart, candy too, persimmon. Full bodied, tart finish. Better than I anticipated.
3.5 Old rating from 12-06-16 - 330ml bottle, picked up on my Belgium trip last year. Pours a hazy golden colour with a white foamy head. Aromas of oak, sour, winey & apples. Tastes is sour with grain, fruity, citrus, funk, oak & earth. Very mild bitterness. Aftertaste is long & sour.
3.8 Aromat guma balonowa kwaśny beczka, dzikie nuty. Smak kwaśne ściągające bardzo dobre
3.7 Bottle from BIAB. Slight haze in amber beer, small head. Crisp tart sour nose with hints of cotton candy and a wee bit of rubber. Flavor follows through, high carb, bubbly acidity and hop bitterness. Not for the faint of heart or "standard" beer taste lovers. It's a wild yeast pop in the kisser.
2.6 Zeer zuur. Niet mijn ding
0.5 Très acide
3.8 Bottle 33 cl. Golden with amber color, clear, fine white head. Aroma: oxidation, sour, wet leather, fruits, oak, cider and white wine. Taste: noble sourness, a little malt, homemade white wine and oak, pleasant finish.

2.9 Very strange. Like cider, or kombucha. Very sour and bitter. Not much quality or complexity's apart from that. No fruitiness. Not sure I would have bought it if it was labelled as a sour.
3.6 Clear golden color with frothy white head. Aroma has some sour elements like sour apples, some malt and some woody notes. Taste is sweet with long somewhat sour and dry aftertaste. Flavors of wood, fruits and malty notes.
3.2 Bottiglia.
3.8 0,33 l bottle. Pours clear golden with huge, lasting, frothy white head. Aroma is foremost sour, fruity, green apples, malt, quite vinous in general. Taste is light sweet, medium sour with hardly noticeable bitterness. Finish is long, fruity and sour at first, followed by bitter, tarty, woody and earthy aftertaste.
2.2 7/20 yeah does what it does on the tin - pale with a lot of funk but not really my thing
1.9 Pale, hazy yellow color with a good head. Wine! Lots of white wine in the smell. Wine again in its taste. This ale comes closer to a champagne or white wine than a beer... bit too much for me.
0.5 Vinagre
1.2 This is a gold color beer with a sour taste. This is a fresh beer but not recommended to quench the thirst since it is high in alcohol.
3.5 33cl bottle. Pours dark blonde, with moderate white foam, all lightly irregular. Aroma is nice of wild yeasts. Body is average, with a nice carbonation. Taste is medium-high sour, similar to lambic. Final is fairly short and clean.
3.6 Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Nose has citrus, vinegar, malts, hay, oak, high tartness. Taste is quite dry, citrus fruits, apple, vinegar, malts. Really sour aftertaste as well.
3.7 Bottle. Light malts, vinegar, leather, vinegar, starfruit, unripe white grapes, hay, thyme. Notes of yellow plum and peach, apple finish. Tart and complex. Excellent.
3.4 Bottled 0,33L. Dark golden color, fraught and light unclear aspect, modest bubbly impression, escaping white head. Moderate grapefruit and grapes aroma, notes of yeast, aged and riped grapes, moisted yeast, grass, winous, acetic, sweet. Oily to watery texture, much dry palate with intence bitter/sweet mouth, long acetic and dry taste, bit fruity and aged grapes final.
3.6 330 ml bottle. Pours clear deep gold with a medium white head. Aroma is sour, vinegar, green apples. Taste is very sour too, vinegar, green apples, grapes.
3.5 Bottle. Slightly hazy golden colour with a medium fine pored white head, nose is sour, fruity, yeasty and slightly woody with notes of white wine, cider and berries, taste is slightly sweet, sour and fruity with a quite tart finish.
3.4 Golden color, foam quickly leaves. Nose. Vinegar, oak, sourness. Taste. Dry, vinegar, a little wood. Tasty ale!
