Petrus Aged Red

Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

3.4 330ml bottle. Clear, brown-ish, ruby colour with small to average, frothy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish fruity, minimally woody and slightly tangy aroma, notes of cherries, a touch of oak, some vinous fruitiness, hints of blue grapes. Taste is sweet-and-sour fruity, slightly dry woody, notes of cherries, some fruit acid, citric acid, caramel malt. Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, minimally astringent palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Rather sweet, not overly deep, quite cherry dominated - OK.

4.0 Dark brown without head. Strong smell of cherries. Taste of sweet cherries and malt.

2.8 Bottle, around 10 months after best before date. Color: Murky reddish brown, light brown, yellowish head. Aroma: sweetish and sourish cherries, cherrie kernel. Taste: Sweet and sour cherries, mostly sweet. Cherry kernels. Some caramel, brown sugar and tannins. Moderate bitterness, going to over moderate at finish. Over moderate to medium sweet, light to moderate sour. Too sweet for me. Mwah.

2.8 Robe rouge vif et sombre, légèrement voilé. Mousse éphémère, carbo correcte, nez sucré, un peu bonbon. Attaque sucrée, goût fruité chimique... Très léger acidulé. Bof.

4.2 Brune rougeoyante à pétillement actif, mousse beige-vieux rose moyenne, dentelles. Arômes acidulés et sucrés, cerise noire, notes boisées et vineuses. Le goût est doux sucré et acidulé, très fruité cerise, un peu confituré, avec du pruneau, boisé, sucre et fructose. Corps plein et rondeur d'alcool avec un amer final. Bel équilibre acidité-douceur.

3.5 Bottle from BIAB. Clear reddish brown, moderate head gone fast. Amazingly strong nose of fresh sour cherries. Flavor is super cherry, complex mix, unfortunately seems to have a bit of artificial flavor pumping it up, too bad - but still pretty tasty. My wife already stole a bit and said, oh, wow that's good!

4.0 Bottled 0,33L. Dark reddish/brown color, intence and creamy beige head of long resistance, much elegant and bubbly impression. Sweet and aged aroma, notes od marzipan, cherry, aged reddish fruits, heavy malt, spiced, berries. Moderae sweet and solid palate, intence and fraught mouth, sweet and acidic notes, long sweet cherry and almonds final.

4.0 Bottle: Poured a marble brown with a tan color head. Aroma is metallic, woodsy, aged fermented fruit. Taste is cherry, tobacco, malts, woodsy, bitter sourness, but ends semi-sweet.

3.8 9/10/2020. Bottle at Brewhouse & Kitchen, Southsea. Pours dark red/brown with a firm frothy off-white head. Aroma of cherries, cherry liquor, sweet malt, dried fruits, berries, prunes. Moderate sweetness and bitterness with nice sour edge. Medium to full body, average carbonation.

3.8 Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso è indirizzato verso fruttato e ciliegia. La finezza olfattiva è elevata e ricca e il modo in cui permane è considerevole. Il manto birroso superiore color rosato chiaro è caratterizzato da una schiuma dalla buona tenuta. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. Bollicine fini costituiscono la forma del perlage, con carbonazione allegra e vivace. Il colore è scuro impenetrabile. Il corpo è pieno. Il dolce è medio e l'amaro è medio: non si surclassano. La forza gustativa è elevata e la persistenza è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di pronta beva. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. L'aroma in bocca porta i segni di zucchero caramellato, miele, crosta di pane, vaniglia, agrumi, lampone e ciliegia.

3.7 ci troviamo di fronte ad una simil kriek , birra "acida" con aggiunta di succo di ciliegia. esame visivo : colore rubino scuro , impenetrabile . schiuma mediamente persistente e non troppo fine di colore beige . esame olfattivo : appena versata nel bicchiere é abbastanza chiusa , si sente ciliegia fresca e leggerissimo sentore di acetico, proprio accennato. Dopo 10 minuti si apre un sacco, la ciliegia diventa frutta sotto spirito e il sentire di acetico si accentua creando un mix molto gradevole. L'intensità resta mediocredito anche se non del tutto scarsa. esame gustativo: Come nel caso del naso, varia e matura nel bicchiere. Parte molto lentamente con ciliegie e altra frutta rossa , base dolce molto abboccata e poco acida. Dopo il riposo in bicchiere aumenta frutta sotto spirito e l'acetico viene fuori , anche se mai veramente concreto e decisa, la base si carica di more e altri frutti di bosco , con un corpo di tutto rispetto . conclusione: buona birra...non la inserirei nella categoria kriek per la bassa acidità ma comunque una buona birra alla frutta , che non stomaca come altre birre tendenzialmente dolci.

3.2 0,33 l bottle. Pours hazy brown, like a light espresso with medium light tan lasting head. Aroma is as expected full of sour cherries with a bit of malt. Its quite sweet, a bit sour and there is some alcohol. Flavor follows aroma, plenty of sour cherries, but there's also some dried fruit and caramel. Taste is medium to heavy sweet, light bitter and light sour. Carbonation is lively. Finish is long, flavor fades quickly, sweetness remains on tongue.

3.7 Dark ruby color, with good fine foam. Nose. Ripe cherry, almond notes. Very nice. Taste. Slightly sour, slightly sweet. Dried fruits, weak cherry, notes, almonds, barrel, tree. The finish is tart, with bitterness from a cherry stone. Great balanced bruin.

3.7 Draft. A deep red beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of lemons, berries, cherries, and funk. The flavor is sour with notes of cherries, wood, funk, and malt, leading to a tart finish.
