3.3 Sampler 8/26/16 (Pike Brewery-SEA)-Pours hazy golden with a small head. Aroma of yeast, fruit, and malt. Taste of the same with some sweetness. This medium to full bodied brew was a surprise as I was not expecting much for this style.
2.2 Taster at brewpub. Ugh. Thick, sweet, cloying. Not nice. Baked beans in there somewhere. Some breweries shouldn’t bother trying Belgian. Stick to the IPA please.
3.0 Bomber from Total Wine, Gainesville. Pours hazy golden with an inch of white head. Aroma of grasses, some fruit, yeast, lager. Flavor is glue, yeast, light fruitiness, grass. Tastes more like a really strong lager to me.
3.7 Pours cloudy golden with a white head. Aroma is fruity malt with spicy yeast. Flavor is sweet fruity malt with some citrus. Finishes citrus with peppery yeast spiciness.
3.2 On tap at Pike Brewing. Not my favourite style but a well made example with a restrained yeast spice flavour.
3.8 A great glass of Tripel. The Cannery Row enjoys this great Belgian Ale tasting beer from Fred Meyer.
3.5 Rating #1910 - 2015.09.24 - #CraftTakesSeattle Beer 9 - Flight at taproom. Pour is pretty standard, hazy golden orange with a bubbly white head. Aroma is belgie yeast, orange peel. Mouthfeel is crisp, medium-heavy alcohol character, medium carbonation. Decent balance, alcohol isn’t confrontational, nice sweet notes linger into finish.
3.5 (tap) clear bright yellow colour with a small white head, aroma of lilies, creamy palate, balanced flavour with a long light bitter finish
3.9 Clear golden color with a thin head. Sweet, fruity aroma with apricot. Mild, slightly bitter flavor with some residual sweetness and a floral aftertaste. Very good.
3.4 Tap at Pike. Clear yellow gold pour with a white head. Yeast and esters on the aroma. Slick medium palate. Maybe a bit too sweet. Decent.
3.5 An okay tripel. The Belgian yeast dominates, lending it some slightly off balance spicyness. Tried with Josh at the brewery in 2016.
3.5 Pours a bright golden yellow color. Aromas of hops, fruit, and a little yeast. Has a light lemony taste, with some yeasty notes, and a good hop flavor.
3.4 The color of ancient amber with a thick frothy and lacy head. Wonderfully zesty bready and wheaty nose with licks of banana. Sweet and green banana flavors with some funky esters, and wheat bread. The flavors are a bit uneven--perhaps this would mellow a bit with additional aging. Not bad by any means, just a bit jarring with some of the rough edges.
3.8 Pours a rich and hazy gold with a white head that left good lacing. Nose of banana, citrus, and clove. Full bodied. Smooth mouth feel. Flavor is fruity, with the banana and clove quite present. Good. Very good.
3.0 Pours a thin head on a hazy straw body. The aroma is grain, barn musty and a little lemon. The taste is watery, boozy and dry grain. The texture is crisp and fizzy. Not great.
3.7 22 ounce bottle to wine glass, evening drink Appearance: very good, inviting Aroma: Smell of alcohol, good scentt Taste: Good Mouth feel: Very good Overall: Very Good beer, will buy again
3.4 Bottle from shig: poured golden yellow with a white lacy head. Aroma had nice notes of pear golden raisins and nice Munich/Vienna notes. Taste was nice honey and pear finishing crisp and dry.
3.4 Draught at the Pike Brewing Co, Seattle, WA Clear golden color with a small white head. Yeast, bitterness, toffee sweetness and dryish malt in the aroma. The flavor is yeast, hoppy bitterness, dryness and malt. Belgian yeast is dominating.
3.3 Weer een poging om een Belgische tripel na te maken. Deze keer is het wel een beetje gelukt.
2.9 Bottle courtsey of Baz and Jude (cheers you two!) consumed at Thistledown Farm campsite Saturday12th September 2015. Sat drinking this by the outside fire, weather is glorious, clear skies, lots of stars a wonderful evening to top off a great day. A little spicy yeast on nose (then mouth) in the flickering light of the fire this looks mid gold with a slim white head. A touch boozy but also fruity, have to say we were not overly impressed with this, it hasn’t got a lot going on. Got bored of this and couldn’t wait to get onto the next beer. A6 A3 T6 P2 Ov12 2.9
2.6 Can (Apr 25, 2019 canning). Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderatly malty (toasted grain), lightly yeasty (basement), with a strong note of banana, other notes of alcohol, taffy, corn syrup. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy/velvety texture, lively texture, moderately to heavily alcoholic. Horribly overdone banana ester, so it smells like a Weizenbock more than anything Belgian. Very sweet and boozy in the mouth, barely even drinkable. A pretty cartoony rendition, but there are worse examples.
3.5 From a 22 oz bottle at home. Pours a pale gold with an off white head. Yeasty nose. Flavors of corrander and banana. Smooth starting bitter finish.
3.6 On June 25, 2015. At Pike Pub & Brewery in Seattle, Washington. Listed at 34 IBU. Hazy yellow to golden color, white to off-white head. Estery banana, phenolic clove taste. Clove aftertaste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium low bitterness. Estery banana, sweet, light spicy scent.
3.5 Lots of citrus and pretty in-your-face for a tripel. Kind of a mash tang finish in here. Pours golden amber with ok head. Some florals, though mash citrus kind of outweighs it. A fair amount of resin. Bottle.
3.5 Bomber from Roth’s. Hazy golden in color. Nose is yeasty with a bit of grain. A touch of sweetness as well. Dry and yeasty up front. A little bit of hoppy bitterness in the finish. Dry yeasty, lightly sweet tripel with a slight hint of alcohol.
3.2 Smooth and well balanced bitterness with a blend of spice. Overall very good.
2.8 It looked good, and smelled pretty nice, but this one just didn't do it for me. If you want something with a nice kick though, the 9% alcohol / volume will get you.
2.9 Old rating. Heavy handed American tripel. Dark gold. Super sweet, caramel, Belgian yeast, some vague fruitiness. Meh.
3.1 Bottle pour. Hazy dark golden with a with a decent white creamy head. Aroma is honey, bubblegum, citrus, and cloves. Medium body. Medium bitter taste that is somewhat short lasting.
3.4 Tap at Pike Brewing, Seattle. Colour is slightly cloudy golden with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, sweetness, citrus, some spices, Belgian yeast and malts. Very sweet American-style tripel.
