2.7 Draft sampler, golden Amber, little head. Aroma faint metal and malt. Taste slightl metal, light malt, caramel, hops bitter. Palate light, carbonation food.
3.5 Almost orange pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma is malty and citrus hops. Flavor is semi sweet malt with a good citrus bitter. Medium body with good carbonation. solid @bp
3.0 fully amber in color and flavor profile. nice fresh maltiness to it with a touch of hops to balance. not very complex, but nice enough."
3.2 Sampler at the brewpub. Darker golden color, clear. Earthy musty hops on nose. British musty mold yeast character. Hops brighter on palate. I would prefer less mustiness and cleaner, brighter flavor.
2.9 Aroma of hops, caramel color with a lasting well laced head. Chalky taste with a hint of hops, creamy feel chalky finish.
2.7 Nice dark copper color with thick but thin head. Nutty malt flavor. Thinness. Light..
3.6 Clear gold under a thin white head. Nose is biscuity sweet with a touch of toffee and light floral hops. Delightful nutty toffee start with a lightly bitter grassiness on the finish. Hoppy and nutty sweet. Exceptionally balanced.
3.2 Draft brewery 2/02 (Old Notes)-Pours a medium amber with a decent sized head. Aroma of pine, citrus, and malt. Taste of the same. This medium bodied brew is not too shabby.
3.3 Bottle at home. Pours clear tawny with a large, creamy beige head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy pine and resin hops, cookie and toast malt apple esters. Flavor is sweet and toast malt, dates, medium hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
2.3 Uncertain if this is an amber, or pale based on label, WTF? Review date: 10OCT11 Bottle date: unk says 210B on the label, maybe (July, week 1ish?) A: Pours a hazy dark amber ale with a finger of caramel cream which falls quickly to a broken sheet of the same. Spotty lace is weak. (2.5) S: Smells like caramel malts, sweet. Some earthy hops, and toasted sugar (3.5) T: Oxidized malts, water, an alkaline tone, and some bitterness. Unimpressive. (2) M: Thin (for either style) with moderate carb. Dry finish. (2) O: I am not impressed and not surprised I’ve never seen this on tap anywhere (2) Serving type: bottle 10-10-2011
3.2 Deep clear amber. Slight caramel and dry bitter hop flavor. Med bodied throughout. Slightly more malt flavor than the naughty Nellie pale ale.
3.5 Pours a pretty hazy copper with a small off white ring around the glass. Aroma is sweet malts/fruity, grassy and floral. Taste is sweet caramel malts, earthy, fruity, and grassy. Decent English pale.
2.6 Cloudy burnt amber Almost no nose. English yeast Taste with a hint of shoe polish. Creamy in a sense with English hops
3.1 Copor color with more of a nutty taste than hops. The aroma is not significant but overall a pleasant pale ale.
3.0 The name is confusing, not so sure what its supposed to be. Aroma is dominated by malt, as is the flavor. Tastes hoppy at first, but that gives way quickly to smooth malts. Not as well balanced as i would hope, but not demanding to drink at all, pretty enjoyable
3.5 September 2012. On tap at the brewpub in Seattle. Amber color. Pine and citrus aromas. Earthy and malty flavors. Not bad.
2.6 Very easy to drink. Doesn’t look or taste like a regular pale ale. More hoppy than most and still sweet. Okay, but nothing compared to the other brews by this establishment. Fruity notes are evident with a crystal malt pairing
3.4 This is a pretty good beer that isn’t really true to style. It is really a cross between a Amber and a Pale and lacks the punch of either style. It has a really nice color but is too malty for an American Pale.
3.6 Orange, slight haze, 1.5 finger head, lacing not bad. Aroma is a middle-ish pungent floral hops and earthy malts, not overpowering, but enjoyable. Taste is a bit bolder, with the earthy aspects really coming out. IT’s got a good chunk of crystal malts (I assume from the flavor and body), and some nice bready notes, and perhaps some fruity undertones. Body is fairly easy drinking, medium to light, moderate carbonation, with a fairly dry, pungent earthy finish. It’s a tasty beer, another good one from Pike. Actually, I have liked everything I’ve gotten from Pike brewery so far, this one is no exception. Not sure which is my favorite, but I know I’ll buy Pike again in the future. I also know that there’s at least two more Pike beers available here that I haven’t tried yet!
3.2 (bottle) amber with off white head. Some floral hops and some malt in the aroma. Flavor was caramel malt and a little flora/citrus hops.
3.0 Bottle at Fairmount Seattle. Clear amber color, small white head. Medium body, malty taste small bubbles, nice bitter aftertaste. :) Bolton Brew.
3.4 Pours a clear copper with a beige head. Nose of roasted malts and floral hops. Medium body and smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is a well balanced malt and hop mixture with a light bitter finish. Very easy drinking.
4.1 Pike Pale Ale has a medium, off-white head, decent lacing left behind, and a bubbly, clear, orange-golden appearance. The aroma is of sweetness, bread, and bread crust. Taste is of the same, with an iced tea note coming through. Bitterness is not high, and the mouthfeel is mostly watery. Pike Pale Ale finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and enjoyable. Overall, this is a really nice one. Another winner from Pike Brewing. RJT
3.6 Appearance: deep amber color, almost to the point of brown but not quite, thick off white head, head sticks around and laces very well Aroma: malty, sweet, plum, Taste: malty, some sweetness, slight hoppyness towards the end, plum Palate: thick on the tongue, low c02 burn, leaves the mouth wet, minimal hoppy aftertaste Overall: tastes like a abbey beer almost, not what I was expecting from a pale ale, a good beer tho
2.8 On tap in Vancouver. Interesting Pale Ale. Good taste, average aroma...
3.1 Tap at Pike Pub & Brewery, Seattle - 09/11/12. Mid amber with a thin forthy off white head that retains well. Nose comprises caramel malts, hops, touch of pine. Tastes of caramel, light citrus, sugars, malts. Medium bodied bodied with soft spritzy carbonation leading to a bitter finish. Pretty average - alittle too sugary and sweet.
2.9 Sample at the brewpub. Pours dark copper with great lacing. Aroma has fruit, caramel and straw, with some old dishwater. Taste is of heavy sweet malt with light citrus. Finishes short and malty/citrus. Blah.
2.9 Bottle. Pours an amber color with a fairly small white head. A little bit of hoppiness to the nose, but it’s dominated by some slightly sweet maltiness. Taste is also slightly sweet, which I found odd for a pale ale.
3.2 22oz Bottle. The pour was a hazy caramel brown with a small (1 finger or less) light brown frothy head that diminished down to a thin cap with good spotty lacing. The aroma was of a sweet light bread malt, floral hops and a light soapy yeast with notes of caramel, citrus (orange) and a light fruity ester. The taste was a malty bitter-sweet and had a touch of caramel throughout, with a light fruity hoppiness and a smidgen of citrus at the end. The flavor lasted an average time with a slightly fruity citrus peel bitterness left behind. Mouthfeel was just beyond light in body and dry in texture with a medium carbonation. Overall a pretty decent Pale Ale with a slight fruity appeal and a mildly bitter hoppiness...
3.0 The commercial description says it all. Amber in color, nutty aroma and flavor. Very light hops presence. Not bad, not excellent.
