Pike Space Needle Golden IPA

Pike Space Needle Golden IPA

Assertive hoppy & floral west coast style IPA. Pike Space Needle Golden IPA is generously brewed with five varieties of Yakima Valley aroma and flavoring hops. We then dry hop it with whole-cone Columbus, Summit and Centennial hops, which impart a floral aroma that has catapulted this beer to one of Pike Brewing customer’s favorite IPA’s.

This beer won a blind tasting competition to be the commemorative beer for the Space Needle’s 50th anniversary in 2012. It was so well received that it has been added to Pike’s year round collection.

It was 1962 and the world came to Seattle for the World’s Fair and its futuristic symbol, the Space Needle. The beer served at the ‘62 World’s Fair? Likely nothing at all like this west coast style IPA, generously brewed with five varieties of Yakima Valley aroma and flavoring hops. We then dry hop it with whole-cone Columbus, Summit and Centennial hops, which impart a floral aroma that has catapulted this beer to one of Pike Brewing customer’s favorite IPA’s.

3.3 Bomber in the Pear deli, Pike Market. Copper color.aroma with flowers and pine. Flavor of dry malt and even drier hops, more flowers, grass, hay. Dry finish. An old style ipa, but good.
3.5 Can from Total Wine, South Richmond. Pours hazy amber with a large, soft beige head. Aroma is floral and citrus hops, some hand soap, some pine, some resin. Flavor is hand soap all the way. This is what hand soap would taste like if if I ate it and it tasted like I imagined it to rather than what it really does. Citrus peel, floral hops, a little tropical fruitiness. Its good.
4.1 Crisp clear orange yellow with a thick white head. Strong floral hop aromas matched to a bold fresh citrus
3.7 On tap at Pike brewing, pours a pale orange golden with a small off white head. Sweet malt and sweet citrus aroma with light pine. Nice assertive bitterness meeting sweet malt, citrus lemon and grapefruit. Solid.
3.4 Can. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. Slightly boring IPA.
3.6 650ml bottle pours a golden orange color with a finger and a half of white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is pine and grapefruit with some floral notes. Taste is a grapefruit and pine hop bitterness with a light fruity and malty sweetness. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a hop forward IPA that is quite tasty. Recommended.
3.7 Bottle from Lep-ro-Kan market. Pale golden, hazy body, big frothy head. Hops dominate the aroma and taste. Palate also has hops over it, lingering long after. Big, bold hoppy NW IPA.
4.0 Golden pour, white head. Sweet aroma of honey and floral hops. Balanced bitterness with grapefruit and dank earthy hop flavor. Very good ipa.
3.4 Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Grapefruit and light pine flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and light pine lingers.
3.7 Rating #1909 - 2015.09.24 - #CraftTakesSeattle Beer 8 - Flight at taproom - Clear golden amber pour with a decent white head that bubbles away to a ring. Aroma is strong with floral hoppy overtones, lavender, lemon rind, mild pine. Taste is more of the same, mild citrusy sweetness, caramel, decent bitterness Finish is dry, but balanced and satisfying.

3.6 Tap at Pike. Golden pour with a white head. Floral, herbal, aggressive hops. Solid.
3.6 On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazed gold with a large white head. Soft malt and a bit of citrus on the nose. Medium bodied, malt, toast, soft citrus. Slow grapefruit malt on the finish, a hint of wheat.
3.7 Pours a nice hazy golden orange color. Aromas of nice citrus/grapefruit hops. Flavor starts malty and the hops kick in, nice crisp bitter finish.
3.4 Can poured into glass. Pours a reasonably clear golden amber with an abundant white head. Great lacing. Nice aroma of citrus, berries, pine, hops. Flavor seems slightly watery but matches the aroma really well. Aftertaste lingers nicely while the bitterness quietly appears. Definitely the most berry-filled IPA I’ve had.
3.6 Draft at the brewery with Mickey Reeves. Nice west coast IPA with a medium bitterness but still some sweet citrus notes. Pretty good and fairly classic.
3.8 20/XI/15 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle @ home - BB: n/a, but bought only 3 weeks ago at the brewery (2015-1629) Thanks to Mathieu and Barbara for picking this one up for me! Clear dark orange beer, creamy off-white head, little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, sweet, hay, grains, bit resinous. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: fruity start, caramel malts, bitter, bit resinous, dry. Aftertaste: sweet malts, caramel, very resinous, bitter, medicinal touch.
3.4 Nice color. Cloudy. Good taste. Chaffy but not in a bad way. Great balanced IPA.
3.4 Bottle at tderoeck's place. Malty, danky, hoppy, it's ok as a beer, but not as good as an IPA. Comes close to a Belgian boring hoppy.
3.5 Draught at the Pike Brewing Co, Seattle, WA. Cloudy golden color with a small to mid-size foamy white head. Floral and grassy hops, moderate bitterness and some malty dryness in the aroma. The flavor is dry floral and piney hops, moderate bitterness and malty dryness. Dry and bitter.
3.5 IPA. ホッピーで、美味しいけど、若干の錆びた味
3.6 Bomber. Cloudy golden body with a bit of lacing on the glass. Well balanced hops and malts with some tropical fruit and bready notes. Solid.
3.8 Slightly hazed golden pour with creamy white head and clinging lace. Aroma is sweet malt and citrus/resiny hops. Flavor is a toucho sweet at the start with a floral/resiny bitter finish. Medium body with smooth carbonation.
3.6 Draft at source. Darker gold-brown. Solid, tasty bitter ipa. Bitter, dry finish. Very tasty.
3.6 Tap: Gold color with a pleasant hop aroma. Not a super bitter in your face type IPA, but still enjoyable on a hot summer day.
3.5 Aroma: citrus fruits, fruity overall, some pale malts. Appearance: hazy gold, small, creamy, white head. Taste: medium bitter. Palate: grapefruit, light pine, remains bitter to the finish. Overall: very decent IPA, not too overpowering, yet quite complex. Pint at SkyCity at the Space Needle, Seattle, WA.
3.6 22 bomber. Clouded orange, soap head. Aroma of tropical fruit, mango, pineapple, grapefruit and flowery yeast. Taste is trop fruit upfront. Finish is dry bittersweet.
3.5 On tap at the brewery. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of floral hops with a piney note, pale and caramel malts, and some dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. A standard IPA.
4.1 Bomber. Bright tropical fruit aroma with notes of grapefruit hop citrus and floral hops. Pours cloudy golden colored with a large, soapy off-white head with good retention and lacing. Starts with tropical fruit and grapefruit citrus flavor. Finishes dry, but still quite smooth for an IPA with slight floral hop bitterness. Excellent IPA.
3.1 Well balanced IPA with everything you would expect from an IPA. Tart citrus, floral notes, lots of hops and a touch of sweetness. Very basic IPA.
