Pike XXXXX Stout

Pike XXXXX Stout

A full-bodied beer with deep chocolate color, velvety malt texture, and a dark-roasted flavor, with hints of smokiness and coffee. It combines the dryness of traditional Dublin-style stout with the strength and character of Imperial Stout.

3.6 Thanks to Hamirubi! 650 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG17. Black, little head. Nose is herbal cacao, chocolate, overly roasted malt. Thick herbal cacao, chocolate, heavy roast, low burned malts,… Bitter cacao bodied. Too roasted for me & not as thick as you would hope, expected more from a beer that is top 50 in its style.
3.7 Sampled @ RBBSG 2017. Opaque pitch black color, average sized beige to brown head. Aroma and flavor is malts, dark malts, some roast, malt bitter, milk chocolate. Nice! !
3.5 Pitch black color. Thin brown head with notes of coffee, molasses, caramel, dark chocolate in the nose. The mouth starts rich, dry, with lots of roasted malt and dark chocolate character. A bit too acrid for my liking. Solid bitter finish with dark chocolate notes. OK, but didn’t match my expectations.
5.0 Bottle purchased locally in Seattle Aug. 2017. This beer is delicious. It’s quite dark, strong, chocolate/coffee taste and despite a 7.0% ABV it’s easy to drink. I will DEFINITELY have this again. Some descriptors: chocolate, coffee, clove, smoke, heavy cloying sweetness, thick feel, slick feel,
3.9 22 oz bottle via trade from backlog notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium plus sized tan head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate, some coffee, earthy bitterness, drinks bigger than the 7%, solid stout.
4.0 On tap at brewery on 1st Street, downtown Seattle. Pours motor-oil black with thick tan whipped cream head and lacing. Aroma: coffee, chocolate-covered espresso beans, molasses, some smoke. Flavor: malt-forward; dark chocolate, milk chocolate, coffee ice cream, blackened campfire marshmallows, porridge. Mouthfeel: full-bodied, lush, creamy.
4.6 Tasty coffee-ish stout on tap at World Beer "Museum" in Osaka (Umeda). Crisp, clean, slight walnut tree type smell. Great head that lasts a while. Super dark; light does not penetrate even when help up to lights. Traditional roasted nut and coffee flavors. Saliva glands respond well. Will definitely drink many more of these. Top shelf!
3.9 Wonderful aroma of rich malts. Pours dark brown with lots of tan head. Smokey taste upfront with a thick mouthfeel. Finishes with the standard malts of a stout. Some bitter tobacco taste. Well done. Bottle.
3.7 bottle shared that poured almost black with mocha head. deep rich roasted malts with hints of chocolate and coffee on the nose. the flavor was creamy smooth the malts, chocolate, coffee blended so nicely together. full mouth feel the warmer the better.
3.6 Taster at brewpub. Pours deep deep tan, brown head. Smells of cark chocolate and smoke and coffee. Good initial hit of burnt malt and coffee, but it’s a little thin for the abv. Very drinkable for a strong beer. Decent.
3.6 Appearance: Deep Blackish Brown. Thin ring of tan bubbles. Nose: Deeply roasted malt notes. Coffee, chocolate, toffee, roasted nuts. earthy Taste: Rich black coffee and dark chocolate notes. just a touch of sweetness. Good bitter Body: medium. Thinner than anticipated Parting thoughts: I was very excited to try this beer. It did not disappoint. A very solid classic stout.

3.7 TAP. Good black pour with tan head.. Dark burnt malt nose, some aniseed is faint.. Solid dark base, burnt wood, some coffee & dark choc bitterness to finish.. Sourced pike brewery
3.8 On tap, Pike Pub. Jet black colour, off white foam. Very good this, not overly harsh or boozy despite abv, smooth roasty coffee and cocoa flavours and a long bitter finish. Impressive stuff.
3.9 Poured from 22 oz. bottle. Near-black with a 2-finger tan head and very good lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malt and roasted coffee with a little licorice and dark fruit. 3.9 650ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a large, creamy, long lasting, brown head that leaves plenty of lacing. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and a hint of smoke. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, coffee, licorice and dark chocolate with a dry, mildly bitter finish. Medium body with a creamy, oily texture and soft carbonation. Very nice.
4.2 Black with a thick and creamy tan head. Aroma is espresso. Flavor is espresso. I think they gave me a shot of espresso instead of a beer. But in all seriousness, this is a great stout.
3.9 Quite good. Bomber. Rich nose of cocoa and licorice. Oily thick palate with anise taste. Gritty and grainy and roasted notes too. Well balanced and complex.
3.6 Tap at Pike. Dark dense oily pour with a tan head. Harsh roast bitter notes. Rich flavor. Nice.
4.0 On tap at Pike brewery: delicious stout. Roasted coffee and chocolate finish outlasts smooth but hoppy start.
4.4 Easily the best beer Josh and I tried at the brewery in 2016. Assertive maltiness. Lots of coffee, some licorice, dark chocolate, and wood.
3.9 Poured from the tap. Near black with tan head. Coffee and chocolate nose. Taste starts with chocolate, leads to coffee, finishes with ash. Fairly full body.
3.9 Tap@Pike’s, Seattle, USA. Light aroma with roasted malts and some coffee. Pitch black color with medium, creamy, lighter beige head. Strong, balanced taste with organic roasted malts, dark chocolate and some coffee. Wide taste spectrum and long aftertaste with roasted malts. Strong body with medium/light carbonation. Overall, rich, organic and balanced. Much taste for percentage. Should have more intense aroma.
3.7 Draftv at the brewery with Mikey Reeves. Great northwest styled stout with a good hop bitter kick but also some coffee and chocolate. Lingering bitter finish. Very nice, especially if you like hops.
3.9 Draft at the brewery. Pours a dark, black color with a nice tan head. Strong chocolate and roasted malt aroma. Toffee as well. Roasted coffee taste with some chocolate notes. Really good flavor and balance. Finished well. Pretty impressive for a touristy brewery!
