This beer has a somewhat more noticeable bitterness, and its mixture of malts and rice makes it rather dry. With a refreshing feeling, balanced bouquet and full body, it works very well as an accompaniment to food. Pilsen has been on the national beer market since 1888.

1.7Can. Pour is a light straw color with a fizzy head and aromas of bread dough. Flavor is adjunct crap beer. Not much redeeming about this one and I’m usually pretty easy going on national beers I have with my feet in the sand. This one is a stinker.
2.6Bottle@Costa Rica. Amber beer with a reasonable head. The aroma is malty with a little dryness. The flavour is sweet with some dryness. Overall quite a poor pale lager.
2.1Poured clear golden with a small white ring. Aroma of grainy malt. Medium body, pretty generic lager.
2.1Had it a couple of times while on holiday in Costa Rica. Bland, boring, metally, your typica holiday pilsner. I liked Imperial a bit more too.
1.912 oz. Pours pale straw with tall, long lasting, fluffy, white head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of grassy hops and pale malt. Body is light and crisp. Pale malt and grassy hops combine on the palate. Finish is short and dry. Good to try once.
3.8Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Cary, NC. This beer is a crystal clear golden color with a thick white head. The aroma is big on grain and has very little hop to it. The taste is fairly weak with an AAL grain flavor. Bottom line, this is a good beer to drink when you want to drink a lot of beer.
2.112oz bottles. Prefer it over the Imperial but not the Bavaria. Dark yellow, Big Foamy head. Mild citrus aroma. Clean tasting, with a fruity note. Finishes with a crisp hop bite.
3.3As a Costa Rican I have to give this beer a good rating. It is my favorite of all the widely commercially available beers over here. It is incredibly refreshing and absolutely perfect for hot weather. I always drink this beer at the beach straight from the can and it’s one of the best experiences ever. It’s bitter, not sweet at all, but very drinkable on most situations. Also, for someone who’s not very tolerant to alcohol like me, it’s very easy on the stomach. Hangover is minimal.
On the negative side, well, the beer is nothing extraordinary. Aroma is very mild. Appearance is "piss yellow" as described by some, with a minimal head that doesn’t last long. Doesn’t go well with food at all.
2.4Pale gold, good frothy white head, modest lacing / Weak nose of CO2 and corn / Medium body, low carbonation, moderately sweet, hint of hops, not much on finish / Simple corn flavor / Not objectionable, just very simple, so likely decent if drunk real cold on a hot day.
1.3Costa Ricaanse pils. Bitterder en lekkerder dan Imperial. Bevat rijst. Zwak voorkomen.
1.3Can.
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is light to medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain, husks), with notes of DMS and gasoline.
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean, husky.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Pretty typical swill lager, very dirty and industrial.
2.3Bottle enjoyed poolside in Costa Rica. Pours a golden color with white head. Corn, grainy, pils, slight grass, slight bitter aromas and flavors. Probably my least favorite off the 3 common Costa Rican lagers where I’m staying, but still not too bad.
1.8Appearance: it has a clear golden color with a medium head. Aroma: smells like sweet grains with some. Tastes like corn and some fruits. Light bitterness.
2.2Can: Thanks El: Served in a shaker.
Medium to smaller sized white head. Clear yellow colored beer.
Aromas of grains, cardboard, wood, hay, herbs, light malty and something light creamy lacto ish..
Flavour has typical herbal, malt and bitter notes with hay and some minerals but also tones of meat, hebal spice, light lacto and some cardboard.
Aftertaste is herbal, bitter, mineral, watery and malty. Also a light lactic touch comes free.
Low to medium carbo, creamy tingling mouthfeel, more than low bodied and a creamy texture.
2.0Light straw yellow, thick head. No nose whatsoever....which I guess means it doesn’t stink. Some light corn, unclean finish, but not offensive, just extraordinarily plain.
1.6Dull tasting lagery beer. Thin looking, some carbonation, little flavour. Not much going on.
1.8A golden lager with a thick receding white head. In aroma, an unpleasant mix of corn adjunct and light sulfur, not very nice. In mouth, a light sweet corn malt with light grassy hops, boring and lacking. Bottle from Auto Mercado, San Jose.
2.4Found inside a fridge while investigating a random corner bar in Punteranus, Costa Rica on 29th March 2014. It was drier than it’s stable mates I also tried (Imperial and Silver) and I thought a better thirst quencher with a bit of style to it’s make up. Crisp, bright and clean with a hop bitterness the others failed to have: very little aroma though.
1.7Can @ Aarhus tasting. Clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma is sweet, light malty and corn. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. Watery. 280314

2.6liter bottle in Playa Samara, I love that they recycle and reuse the glass bottles here. Taste is much more present than the other national Tiko beer, faint malt a bit of grassy hops, solid beer for the price, excellent for drinking on the beach. The ABV is also higher than Imperial so there is really no reason to drink Imperial... Will be putting more of these back during my stay
2.2Bottled in Guacimal, Costa Rica. Clear pale golden, mid sized head. Faint aroma of overripe fruits. Sweetish with clean mouthfeel and light-medium body. Butter and faint notes of boiled vegetables. Some spicy hops in a mid bitter finish.
2.0Bottle @ tasting. Aroma is watery malty grains, grass. Flavour too but in a watery way.
2.0Had from a bottle at The Beatle Bar in Jaco Costa Rica. Had taste. Standard pilsner with a slight bitter bite at the end. Will have more of these.
1.6Straw blonde and lightly carbonated for a pale lager. Rather dank beery aroma and flavor somewhat resembling Milkwaukee’s best (aka "THE BEAST"). Not a drainpour--as long as it’s served very cool. Eck.
2.1Poured clear golden with a small white ring. Aroma of grainy malt. Medium body, pretty generic lager.
