3.8Bottle shared with Dave and Judonn, pours a lightly hazy golden with larger white head. Notes are belgian fruit, grain, florals, spice, and bread. Light to medium bodied. Not bad overall and its Organic so gets some bonus points. Tried again on draft at Brauhaus, first time ever in states, way better....more crisp, clean, and less apple/spice. Moved up a few notches
3.0Surprisingly pale for an alt, with a bright, grassy malt character dusted with toffee and butter, finished off by mildest-of-mild floral hops and a strong lemon-apple estery fade. Seems far closer to a Helles than a traditional alt, but I'm not German, so what the hell do I know. Basic, no-frills, and not the altbier I'm looking for.
2.7I enjoyed the first half of this, but then the 2nd half was mostly dense and unfiltered....so my recommendation, pour it all at once!! First half was clearer and had a nice watery/wheat flavor with good hop ending. 2nd half of unfiltered wheat-mud was way too sweet and off balance. I am sure it would be better poured the way it should be, but still wasn't really feelin' this brew.
3.4Looks more like a helles as its golden, small head. Aroma is malt, grain, low in aroma. Taste is the same, honey? Sweet, bitter ok
3.2Bottle from Arzengel. Cheers. Floral and doughy aroma, with a touch of egg. Bright gold. Bubbly white head fades. Light sour with a sweet streak and sort of buttery seam running through it. Fruity. Light bodied. Thin. Fizzy carbonation. Long finish. Confuses me - it's drinkable but at the same time somewhat odd. Protz 300 tick.
1.4Als Altbier hätte ich es wohl nicht erkannt. Es schmeckt unglaublich schal und hat irgendwie keine bierigen Aromen nach Hopfen und Malz. Es wirkt wie eine komische Getreidesuppe.
3.1Clear golden with rocky head.
Light fruity aroma, low to none grassy hops, some bananas.
Clean malty flavour.
Good and very clean.
3.70.5 l draught @ Pub Tuulensuu, Tampere. Light yellow, cloudy and a nice head. Doesn't really look like Altbier, more like Witbier. Same for the taste - crisp, fruits and not much maltiness. Great summer drink during a hot weather.
2.6Hell, klar, geringe Krone. Süßlich-beeriger Duft, welcher leicht ins metallische abklingt. Geschmacklich rund, erfrischend, etwas verwässert. Minimal getreidig.
2.8Tap @ Gastropub Tuulensuu.
Pours pale clear golden color with a large white head. Aroma is grassy with some faint hops, grain, distant starch. Flavor has hay, grainy notes, some starchy tones, faint lemony notes on the finish. Okay.

3.5Fles 50cl thuis als Pinkus Original Obergärig Alt. Licht zoetje, hoptonen, fris, grassig, wat vlak, goede balans. (5-2017).
3.1Tap. Golden color with off-white head. Aroma has hay, caramel, malt. Taste is malty with quite long somewhat bitter aftertaste. Flavors of caramel, malt, grass. Crispy.
3.3If I would simply rate this beer against what I expect from an Alt, this beer would rate a 2. As I like this beer, I rate it a 3.3. Pale golden with I big head with Citrus fruit sweet and sour and only little bitterness. More a Belgian blond than an Alt in my opinion but, As I like both styles so I do not mind. A very nice beer that I will buy again.
2.4500ml bottle. Pours a pale hazy gold with a tiny white head. Aroma and taste of fruits, light malt, a bit of earth, yeast. A touch of apple. Slightly tart. Watery finish. Not what I was expecting for a beer in this style.
3.450cl bottle pours a hazy golden color with decent foamy white head. Aroma has flowers, bready malts, yeast, and grass. Taste is sour and tart, but offset by all those bready malts n the mddle, before a dry finsh. Body is medium with average carbonation. This is easily drinkable and has more to it than I suspected after the first sip. Delightful with the accent on the second syllable.
3.5From Aug 2007
Purchased at Wilbur's in Ft Collins.
It pours from 500ml bottle a clear light gold with a fairly large head of foam. After the second pour, the brew becomes cloudy and the head of foam is more substantial and longer lasting. I've got 2 finger foam in my glass right now and it's not shrinking at all. Nice.
The smell is malty and hoppy. Neither is more dominant than the other.
The taste starts of with some malt but then the hops move in and that's on the citrusy side. This is a very delicate beer and in order for me to get the most flavour out of it, I have to swish it back and forth in my mouth. *That's* when this Alt starts to shine. I get some real earthy notes from the malt as well as some sweet caramel and the hops subside to a point where they're just giving the beer the slightest bit of bitter and semi sour character. I miss the fine nuances when I just sip and swallow.
Overall? I think a lot of the flavour with this Alt will be missed if you just sip or drink and swallow but I find that swishing it in your mouth just a few times will help you recognize what's going on here when you return to sipping/drinking. Just something that I find from my experience. Ymmv. Bottom line: I really like this Alt and I hope to try some more of the style in the not too distant future.
3.1Bottle in a hotel room in Dresden. Clear light gold. Warm malt aroma and hay, lightly esteric. Tastes bitter and mildly sour, some tart fruitiness. Light body, light carbonation, mild bitter finish.
3.2Aroma: herbs, malty, flowers.
Appearance: golden color and white head.
Taste: malty, herbs, flowers, some strange acid notes, dry.
Palate: low body and medium carbonation.
Overall: decent Muenster Alt, rather clear.
2.8Not a giant fan of this beer. Light in body, appearance, and definition. LIngering sweetness and strangely metallic off flavor.
2.7From 0.5 L bottle, pours light yellow with a white head. Taste is slightly sour and bitter and light to medium malty. Light body, average carbonation.
2.4Being brought up on Altbier (The real on from Düsseldorf, which is dark), I am not too comfortable with a blonde brew labelled Altbier. It's well-crafted, good quality, and I rate Pinkus brewery high, just this one doesn't work too well for me.
3.2500 ml bottle. Pours clear bright golden with decent head. Metallic nose. Grain, citrus, barley malt, metal. Hoppy bitterness with floral notes. Light bodied, soft carbonated. Nice.
3.5Vom Flasche from Bio grocery store in Koln. Fizzy clear yella appearance, not hazy at all. Fresh hops, grassy, malts, nice. Not overbearing and less bitter than other alts Ive had. Hard to distinguish this from a Dortmunder, a wee bit more bitter perhaps. Anyways a good easy beer. Plus point for bio ingredients.
3.1Hazy golden color; Medium body; Aroma of malt, caramel, & fruit; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, fruit, caramel, and light hops; Refreshing overall - but not what I expected.
2.8Hell, klar. Geruch malzig, leicht metallisch. Im Geschmack leicht säuerlich. Wenig Hopfen, moderat bitter.
2.5Hazy yellow with a thin white head. Yeasty, light malt aroma. Flavor is mildly malty with little hop contribution. Thin and watery. Disappointing.
2.0Aroma is metallic, caramel, toffee, sweet. Appearance is golden amber, off white head, hazy. Taste is wheat, metallic, caramel, toffee, light, off. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light carbonation, wheat metallic aftertaste. Overall, way way off for this style. Plain and boring.
2.8A bottle from the so-called ’Pinkus German Restaurant’ on Keelung Road, drunk at home. Aroma: wheaty, bready. Appearance: clear, light amber, minimal head. Palate: medium body, rather thin. Soft carbonation, bitter at the finish but doesn’t last. Taste: lightly bitter, I detect a sour note. A nice change from the local beer, but lacks punch.
3.0Bottle 0.33l at Ratebeer Belgian Summer Gathering 2016 Evergem, Belgium. 03.09.2016. Thanks Klaas for hosting and RB guys for sharing today’s beers. Pour it hazy golden color with small white head. Aroma only spices. Taste sweet crispy, some herbal feel, something is missing, cereal, pinch floral, light body, thin feel, average carbonation.
3.318.10.2016 - Aroma of dark bread and barnyard. Taste of wet hay and bread. Some soft lactic sourness over all. Fine carbonation.
