Pizza Port Chronic Amber Ale (-2011)

Pizza Port Chronic Amber Ale (-2011)

Our customers can’t get enough of this amber ale that was orginally brewed with hemp seeds, but tastes just as good without them.

2.9 Quite hazy deep amber and bronze coloured body with a nice single centimetre tall just off-white head on top. Aroma of funk, yeast, bread, grain, apples, pears and a touch of caster sugar. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and apple flavours dominate with a mild malt presence and some softer hop notes that are evident on the back, but just don't show much in terms of complexity and depth. Aftertaste shows the grainy malt and especially the fruits with a stale biscuity and nutty flavour that has some earthiness as well and a hint of astringency on the finish. Overall, a dry and relatively straight-forward beer that shows an 'amber ale' about right without much flavours, complexity, depth or pungency - this is a very easy drinking beer that also shows some light fruit, a dose of earth and a hint of soft caster sugar. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased on the other side of the world at the Turnpike Shell Station (near the airport) in Hagatna, Guam, U.S.A on 22-July-2017 for US$3,50 brought back home to literally the opposite end of America in Washington on 25-April-2019 while planning for this year's summer vacation.
3.4 Draught at restaurant. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, caramel, hops, nuts and a bit of fruits. Bitter finish with citrus, caramel, toast, a bit of fruits and hops. Good amber.
2.2 31.10.2014, 1 pint can sampled @ What's Brewing: Small creamy mediumlasting head, very light color. Aroma is slightly sweet grainy, hay, wet grain, sugar, weeds, cereal, flowers, wet grass, caramel. Taste is slightly dry grainy, hay, dried grain, weeds, cereal, paper, wet grass, minerals, flowers. Medium bitterness, slightly dry harsh mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Meh!
3.2 16 oz can poured a clear orange amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of caramel and earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of caramel, earthiness and a hint of pine with a crisp dry lingering earthy caramel finish.
3.2 (Tap) clear, bright orange colour with a small cream head; aroma of bread, jam; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish

3.0 Malty with light fruity hop notes. Sweet. Toasted malt. Fizzy head that disappeared rather quick. It's alright, but nothing special.
3.0 Can Amber colour with medium head.Aroma of caramel toasted malt and hops, light body and mild watery mouth feels bit thin overall.
2.7 13 oz in ISO. Pours an Amber colour without much aroma. Quite fizzy with a taste like sparkling water. Not a huge amount of flavour really. (K)
3.0 can @ home clear copper, cream head bread crust, yellow fruit quite watery, some kind of light taste juice, light candy
4.5 I really enjoyed this one. Smooth amber colored beer with a little kick. Rather refreshing.
3.1 0.5l can. A good viewer this. A mild cloudy orange golden looking one with a hefty lacing just off-white medium sized head. On the nose it's quite mild. I get a little bit of honey, malt sweetness, nuts, roses, Vanilla biscuits and hints of red berries. Quite a mild and gentle aroma. In the mouth this is surprising thin, not watery but really soft oily. The carbonation level on this is quite soft. Tastes, like the aroma, quite mild. Soft malt sweet. Mild red berries, some hibiscus, mild red berries. Wish it had a tad more hoppy punch. Quite a blend and actually a tad boring one this. Highly drinkable though. 01.04.2015
3.0 Nez: Malté, caramel Bouche: Maltée, caramel, orange, épicée Une bière un peu fadouille qui est tournée essentiellement sur le malt et le caramel avec une pointe épicée dans le final.
3.5 Can pour at home, amber pour thin head. Hoppy spice body, malty finish. Nice beer overall nothing to special with this amber.
3.6 More hops makes a better amber to me. Not necessarily standard by style but I don't care
3.2 Pours amber coloured with small head. Aroma is very subtle, with caramell and a touchnof dried fruit. Taste: again very subtle, a bit too subtle, with caramell and a note of dried fruit and orange zest. Ok, but I was expecting something less mainstream-like.
3.9 can at home bought from www.beergonzo.co.uk. I not really convinced by american amber ales always seem to be far too hoppy for my liking, I do like hoppy beers but i think they are better suited to an ipa style of beer
2.5 Schönes Kupfer im Glas, im Aroma Karamell. Im Trunk sehr malzig, Karamell, süffig, leicht herb. Malzbier.
4.0 Can from Off the Strip at The Linq in Las Vegas on 11 October 2017. Had this with a late night dinner and it was pretty damn good. Malty and full bodied with a lot of maltiness in the flavour. Tasty with a big malty finish, Went down a treat with my chicken burger and waffle fries.
3.5 UT080917 backlog. On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza 2017, London. Nose is Malt. Grain. Medium bittersweet. Medium lasting malty medium bittersweet. Light body, slick, soft carb. 746414
3.3 Draft at the Beavertown extravaganza.Aroma and taste of old malt, some caramel.
3.1 Amber pour with nice sized off-white head. Toasted nut nose with touch of caramel. Flavor is soft on hops with roasted malt and tad bit of sweetness.
2.7 Flojita de aroma a maltas caramelo Buen aspecto carbonatacion media En boca un poco plana
3.0 A soft malty nose. In the mouth it is really rather sweet. A little bitterness and prickly carbonation restrain it somewhat but this is like a bowl of bran flakes. Surprisingly pleasant but really lacking bite.
2.8 Light amber with a white head - Malt aroma - Malt body with some caramel and some bitterness - The malts goes into the finish - This was ok
3.3 Mostly clean, slightly hazy amber color with an offwhite head of foam. A balanced if not somewhat weak blend of caramel, toast, some dark fruit, and florals all around it.
