Pizza Port Swami's India Pale Ale

Pizza Port Swami's India Pale Ale

"It’s hard to believe we’ve been slingin’ pizzas for 20 years since March of 1987! That’s about 7300 days or 175,200 happy hours of fun! We’re excited to celebreate by brewing and bottling up a beer to share a special toast! Swami’s IPA is one of our best selling beers. Many have called it the original San Diego IPA. As such, it’s been a big part of Pizza Port Solana Beach since we installed the brewing system in 1992. A bold IPA hopped to the extreme with galena, Centennial and Cascade hops. We also add a healthy dose of dry hops in the serving tank and always serve it unfiltered. Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing the memories along the unbelievable way...Cheers!"

Formerly 7.4% when brewed at Solana Beach location.

3.6 Hazy light golden color. Aroma, lost on my stuffed sinuses. Taste is orange, lots of lemon, pine and quite a lot of bitterness. Could stand to have a bit more malt balance, but as long as you enjoy bitter IPAs, you'll enjoy this one a lot. Very, very good.
4.2 great floral some dank
3.9 Awesome citrusy west Coast IPA. Lots of orange amd lemon here with a touch of pine. Very drinkable. Pours golden with good head and lacing. Bitter end. Tall can.
5.0 This is one of my VERY favorite I.P.A.'s. I have yet to have a beer from this brewery that wasn't great !!!
3.4 Bottle pour. Clear golden with a nice soapy head. Aroma is citrus, lemon, grapefruit, and grass. Medium smooth body. Salty with a bitter finish.
4.0 Dose in Kalifornien. Vielschichtig und gut! Gelb-Gold, Trüb, wenig Schaum. Aroma: Voller Fruchtkorb (Aprikose, Zitrus. Geschmack: Frucht (Zitrus) und Bitterkeit sehr gut abgestimmt und balanciert. Dazu Getreide, etwas Kiefer.
3.5 Draft at Scapegoat in Scottsdale. Poured a golden color with a small white head. Aromas of citrus hops and pine. Flavor has the citrus hops, pine and lots of bitterness.
3.6 A Pizza Port IPA at Trader Joe's!!!. That being said, this isn't their best one. Thin while wildy over bitter. Bitterness would be fine at a 10% abv, but it's all that's there with this malt. Would like more hop flavor too. It's a truck of bitter. You can only go so many IBUs on this malt and dry hop/hop flavor. Pizza Port is still easily one of my favorite brewers so I'm conflicted and confused on not loving this. More hop flavor PLEASE!!!
4.1 473ml can, Antenna America, Shinagawa Station. Pours golden, quite transparent, nice white foam on the top, leaving beautiful lacings. Crisp resiny nose, hop oils and some citrus peels, lemon and some orange marmalade. Tastes crisp and dry, good fresh hop bitterness, light sweetness (really light) and lots of citric spritz. Super light and elevated, uplifting IPA, dangerously sessionable. Goes down too quickly, superb balance.
3.7 Mostly clear golden pour with a white head. Aroma is a little dank, grassy and herbal with some citrus. Taste is sweet up front with medium bitterness and a balanced finish.
4.3 Excellent Brew!
5.0 Len krämig smak med lätt citronton. Bra humlad med skarp citronton i beskan och aromen.
2.4 31.10.2014, 1 pint can sampled @ What's Brewing: Small creamy mediumlasting head, very light color. Aroma is fresh grassy, hop pellets, citrus peel, leafs, lawn, light malts, grapefruit, lemongrass, fresh hops. Taste is dry and medical harsh, bark, paper, fresh wood, leafs, lawn, medicine, alcohol, harsh hops, light malts. Longlasting bitterness, dry harsh mouthfeel. Nice aroma, that's all...
2.8 Wish I could say I liked it more. Dark yellow with grass and alcohol on the nose. Stringent hops subduing any other flavors.
4.5 FUCKING INCREDIBLE. So glad to get away from NE IPs. Nice and clear and crisp and medium bitter.
3.7 473 ml can courtesy of MK. Pours a clear golden colour with moderate-sized, lasting white head. Aroma is pine and floral hoppiness with some bread and gentle tree fruitiness. Flavour is quite piney with flowers, bready maltiness and a little citrus. Some acidity in the finish. Nice.
3.8 1 pint can purchased at The Shrine in Taipei. Appearance is a slight cloudy dark orange gold, topped with a goodbyes if directory, which recedes quite quickly. Aroma is dominated by The floral hops, pine, resin and a strong dankness, over much more subtle citrus fruit notes. Taste is similar, some light fruity sweetness, but for most part an intense piney, resin bitter, which goes on and on in the finish. Mouthfeel is full and rich, and goes all the way to the finish. A solid SD IPA.
3.2 Earthy piney hop aroma with grapefruity citrus and bready malt Pours a hazy light golden color with big lasting frothy white head Earthy piney hop flavor with a bread malt backbone. Medium bodied medium co2, lingering earthy bitter finish. Good IPA. Nothing sets apart from others though
4.3 On tap at Clock Block Ueey, I can taste how true San Diego is. Hazy amber with tall orange-ish head. Hoppy and earthy aroma, something like grapefruit at the end. Taste is hoppy bitter. Strong hop presence all around. Hoppy bitter tale. Perfectly balanced, enjoyed a lot.
3.8 On tap at Pizza rev. Gets you fucked up fast. Quite sweet caramel IPA with somewhat mild alpha acid. Very mature ale. Creamy. Great.
3.9 Lightly sweet tropical citrus fruits with pine and hop resin underneath. Light toasty malt. Medium body. Bright. Real nice.
3.0 Lata compartida en Club Cata Olut, Sabadell. Más un NEIPA que una IPA subidita
3.5 Tastada al club de tast de l'Olut (Sabadell- Catalunya) ... per mi és una NEIPA... una mica pujada de graus.
3.0 Shared can at Olut Sabadell. Hazy yellow with white head. Tropical fruits and resins aromas. Bitter takes it all. Classic IPA.
2.6 Shared can @OlutSBD, Sabadell. Pours hazy yellow with white head. Aroma of tropical fruits. Taste is sweet snd fruity with a bitter ending.
4.0 Degustada en Olut club de cata Sabadell,de lata de 50cl,poco amarga tirando mas a neipa que a ipa.
3.8 473ml can. Clear golden with a big frothy white head. Aroma is resinous, tropical fruits, pine. Taste is resinous, pine, pineapple, tropical fruits, bitter finish. Medium body, soft-average carbonation. Nice one.
3.8 Tap pour at Beerhaus in Vegas. Deeper golden color with assertive half finger white head. Aroma leans heavy on hops with citrus rind and pine notes. Taste is classic West Coast IPA. Pine characteristics abound with healthy citrus bitterness and a great finish. Very solid IPA but above average in general. First beer from this brewery and would love to try more of their stable.
3.6 Served on tap at Beerhaus. Cloudy orange color with a white head. Light citrus hops aroma. Tropical fruit resin bitter flavor. Medium body.
