3.4 September 16, 2017 with harrisoni and lagerloather - at Brew By Numbers - 330ml bottle. Black-brown pour, ruby edges with a lovely light brown head (4+). Aroma - boozy and nutty/roasty, plenty of port and oak - nice, different. Taste is hugely whatever was in that barrel, but sharp and uric - undoes all the wonder of the aroma; generous 7. Sharply and weirdly carbonated - sticky, boozy finish - whatever is in that barrel .... don't love it.
3.8 btl. bb 31.1.20. W aromacie na pierwszym planie nuty beczkowe: kwaśne, winne, drewniane i waniliowe. W smaku zielone jabłko, czerwone wino i słodka kawa. Ogólnie słodko-kwaśne, ale jak ta słodycz dochodzi do głosu to jest jej zdecydowanie za dużo - czyli znów to samo, co przeszkadzało mi w bałtykach "Pohlali".
3.7 Bottle, roast, chocolate light smoke, dried fruit, light subtile hint of red port, tawny, oak and light smoke.
3.9 Black color, brown head. Roasted malt nose, dried fruit, coffee, peppery, licorice, hint of alcohol and wood. Roasted malt taste, licorice, coffee, peppery, alcohol, bitter espresso finish. Full body, soft to average carbonation, warming. 8, 4, 8, 4, 15
4.1 33cl bottle, thanks Tomi. Bbe 310120. Poured pitch black with a thick brown head. Dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa, salt, barrel notes, vague sherry notes. Flavor has vinous, sherry notes, chocolate, coffe. Complex. Excellent sipper.
3.7 Barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta, piana beżowa, grubopęcherzykowa, średnio trwała. W aromacie dominuje kawa i czekolada, a także lekka wanilia i nuty winne. W smaku na pierwszym planie kawa i czekolada. Dalej trochę karmelu, wanilii i nut winnych, jednak oczekiwałem większego wpływu beczki, a ta jest trochę schowana. Delikatnie brakuje ciała, choć do wodnistości daleko. Alkohol świetnie ukryty, wysycenie na początku wysokie, potem się trochę uspokoiło.
4.1 Butelka 330ml pite w domu. Kolor ciemny, nieprzejrzysty, piana niezbyt mocna, mała obrączka pozostaje. Aromat kawowy, mocny , winny z lekką czekoladą i karmelem. W smaku pół słodkie, palony słód i lekkie kwiaty w tle. Średnie ciało ze wskazaniem na mocne. Na podniebieniu winne , alkohol lekko wyczuwalny.
3.0 Butelka. Kawa, minimalna ilość czekolady podszyta subtelna wanilią. Wytrawne, deserowa czekolada, kawa zbożowa, lekko metaliczny posmak, z paloną goryczka. Dość wodniste, brak ciała i oleistości. Brak przede wszystkim balansu. Ogólnie poprawnie, ale bez zachwytów.
3.9 09-09-17 // taster, draft. At Beavertown Extravaganza 2017, London. Deep black. Aroma of bitter chocolate, roasted malts, minimal smoke, Barrel character. Smooth full bodied. Great porter.
4.5 Pours almost black from the bottle. Dark tan head that slowly fades. Aroma is dark chocolate and sherry wine. Taste covers the full spectrum: sweet with a light berry tang and then a mild bitterness at the end. Smooth, rich and thick. Top notch. I cannot recall drinking a porter any better than this one.
4.2 Bottle. Opaque black with a bubbly beige head. Splendid aroma, full of chocolate, vanilla, oak, prunes, liquor, light wine notes. Medium-high malty sweetness, chocolate, wood, coffee liquor, soy, vanilla, dark dried fruits, cherries, warming alcohol, finish is moderately bitter, light roasted acidity, really balanced flavors. Medium-full bodied, a bit fizzy at the beginning, but nicely settles down after a while. Smooth, oily, complex and tasty. Great.
4.3 Bottle. Opaque black with brown head. The aroma has notes of milk chocolate, wood, alcoholic, vanilla, wine, fish, soy sauce and coconut. Sweet and alcoholic flavor with notes of wood, milk chocolate, liqueur, some wine, cherry, coconut, sticky. Full-bodied. Excellent, really enjoyable.
5.0 24-11-2017; bottle; at home (bought at World of Drinks, Rotterdam, The Netherlands). Expectation of this beer are very very high. I paid something like €7,60 for a 330ml bottle, which is like a lot. It is one of the most expensive 330ml bottles I've ever had, so it has to be worth it. I like the wax on the bottle cap. It gives it a nice luxurious and rustic look, but it doesn't make it that easy to open. But when it is opened, I'm immediately happy. The looks of the beer are beyond beautiful. A pity you can't rate it more than 5. The beer itself seems pitch black...but if you look closely, a beautiful ruby red glow can be seen in some light. On top of the beer the most beautiful foam layer is formed. The foam is soft, creamy and has the darkest brown color I've ever seen. Foam retention is average. A beautiful dark brown soft drape is left. One of the best looking beers I've ever seen. Than the next feature of the beer, the smell...again it is perfect, beter than that even. Everything that needs to be there is there, in a harmonious way. The nose is filled right away with lovely aromas of roasted barley. I smell coffee, chocolate, some liquorice, caramel and toffee, together with dark red fruits, some plum. There is also a lovely sour touch, from the Moscatel Roxo barrels. This gives a nice rich aroma, that pairs lovely with the dark robust malts and the fresh fruity hops. The hops contain some red fruit notes, giving a nice fresh fruity touch. It is in great harmony with the dark malts and the oak wood. All aspects are present, but none of theme are to strong. The barrel aged aroma is just there to enriched the natural beer aromas, not to cover them. Lovely. The taste is even better, if possible. The mouth is filled with lovely bittersweet malts, reminding me of chocolate, coffee, caramel, red fruits and some salted caramel. The hops give a nice bitter and slightly acidic fruit note, balancing out the sweets of the malts. Alcohol is also clearly present, and gives some nice sweets as well. The last flavour is that of the Moscatel Roxo barrels. They give a nice rich complex flavour of wine, some wood and a slight natural barrel yeast touch. Amazing, and perfectly balanced. Nothing is to strong, nothing is to weak, just perfect. I also really like the palate of the beer. The body of the beer is very full, whilst the texture of the beer is satiny, a bit creamy and overall very soft. Carbonation is medium, but with the high alcohol percentage it gives a nice tingle. The finish of the beer is very nice. It is long and intens. It has lovely sweet chocolate at first, followed by some red fruit, ending in a coffee and roasty bitterness, so slowly fade out. A nice wood touch and strong alcohol warmth are present during the entire finish of the beer. I really like it. Amazing. Definitely one of the best beers I've ever had, from my world favourite brewery. Amazing.
3.8 (Bottle, 0.33 l - batch 376 - BB 31.01.20, from Uba ja Humal, 20171123) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice, dark chocolate and sweetness. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, dark chocolate, vanilla, vineousness, liquorice, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A well done balanced strong burnt brew. Easily drinkable.
[ As Põhjala / Brew By Numbers Cellar Series - Kolm Null Null Kolm ]. 4.5 the aroma is caramel and chocolate with hints of smoked malt, port, toffee, dried fruits, cocoa and vanilla.. the taste is caramel and chocolate with notes of roasted malt, port, dried fruits, toffee, raisin, cocoa, oak wood and brown sugar... sweet, bitter, dry and warming aftertaste...
4.6 W aromacie silne uderzenie czekoladowości, kakaa, kawy oraz lekkich nut winnych. Zapach jest bardzo intensywny, trwały. Piwo czarne, nieprzejrzyste. Wysycenie wysokie. Piwo pełne, treściwe, ale też i gładkie. Alkohol ukryty, tylko przyjemnie ogrzewa przełyk. Bez dwóch zdań jest to kapitalne piwo. Jakby było mniej nasycone to byłoby wręcz idealnie. Zapach, smak, wygląd, wszystko na najwyższym poziomie. Światowa czołówka w swoim stylu.
3.6 Pours dark brown. Nose is chocolate, toffee, bread. Palate is tart bread, chocolate, dried fruit, wood. Tasty
3.9 Black with little brown head. Aroma is cacao dough, some chocolate, salted caramel, molasses. Taste is spicy spiky slightly sour dark chocolate. Quite boozy and heavy. It is really an explosion in the mouth. Also much alcohol warmth. Could have more body. Still nice.

3.6 26th July 2017 Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Mr 5K Tips. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is airy and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, a little dark chocolate and soft malt cream. Tangy fruits and a little dessert wine. Mild esters. Soft finish with a little alcohol spice. Nice but the esters irk a little.
