3.7 looking forward to this one, i tasted the Öö with cognaq a lot when i bought a bunch of them at a discount, and they were really good. I prefer islay whiskey to cognaq any day so this might even be better for me. pitch dark, brown head. perfect smoked islay dominated aroma, apart from islay smoke, there is a lot of wood in general, hard roasted malts, sweet malts and salt licorice. This is one of the best aromas i ever rated, certanly the best barrel aged islay aroma. clean, complex, well blended. Most might find it unbalanced with too much peat, but i find it well balanced for the style. flavor is very sweet, alc. burn, the islay almost drowns in all that sweetness. reminds me in a way of the mikkeller black series that also sometime were way too sweet, compared to my preferences. Aroma is fantastic though. ignoring the sweetness, the beer tastes very well too, but ignoring the sweetness is hard.
3.9 YG 030621. Black color with a beige head. Aroma is peat, roasted malt. Flavor is peat, roasted malt, coffee, licorice, chocolate, vanilla, wood, brown sugar, dried fruits. Very nice beer.
3.9 Bottle. It's a black one, with a minimal sized dark beige head. No lacing, quite oily. The aroma has a very nice peated touch, with roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and some charcoal. Some vanilla and brown sugar. It's full-bodied, warming and smooth on the palate, sugary, with roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate notes and a touch of licorice. Some dark dried fruits and a touch of peat. Lasting peated, sweet finish with lots of other dark flavors. Delicious. 210603
4.0 Small russet-cream head over black beer. -1 point off for the wax, even if I had not to pluck it off myself. Islay whisky to the fore; phenols, tarr, lots of roast. Sweet, smoked malts and mild to good roast. Sweet charcoal, if that makes any sense. Phenols are less intrusive than the nose suggested. Some black chocolate backthroat. Ridiculously full bodied despite alcoholthinning and furious alcoholheat. Another great version of the Pime. Excellent.
4.1 pitch black colour, half inch of dense brown head; aroma of soy sauce, whisky, peat, burnt sugar syrup, vanilla, some chocolate and roasted nutty notes; taste is quite syrupy with the same notes as can be felt in the aroma, as well as intensivve spicy aftertaste; great one
5.0 0,33 l bottle from Uba & Humal, Tallinn. Superb Imperial Stout, maximum points.
4.4 0,33l bottle. Pours black with beige lacing. Smoky whiskey barrel, chocolate, coffee. Quite sweet. Full-bodied, low carbonation. Hint of alcohol. Really good.
3.9 Bottle. Pours inky black with a small tan head, some lacing. Aroma is mega peat, smoked peat, lagavulin, tobacco, roasted coffee grounds, scotch. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, heavy peaty smoked whiskey. Full body. silky mouthfeel.

3.8 Keg at the Beavertown Extravaganza, day two, 09/09/2017. An oily dark jet black coloured pour with a dark tan head. Aroma is agressive isaly peaty malts, salty, big phenol, tcp. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, big black malts, smokey bacon, medicinal. Palate is thick and chewy, moderate carbonation. Aggressive stuff.
3.9 Bottle at home, black beer, small head. Aroma is islay whisky, peat, smoke, iodine, sweet, alcohol, some wood and vanilla. Taste is the same, sweet, malt, slight caramel and chocolate. long alcohol warmth and aftertaste in the end. nice.,
3.5 Bottle from Maplewood Liquor in San Jose, CA. Aroma is charred dark fruits, dark chocolate, roasted malts. Taste is oily, dark cocoa, charred dark fruit. I was expecting a lot more smoke, iodine, charred ash. A little disappointing since I loved most every beer I’ve had from them.
3.9 Pours black with thin, dark tan head. Aroma is molasses, roast, scotch and dried fruit. Taste is brown sugar and sweet fig, moving to peat and roast. Finish is sweet fig, roast and scotch. Excellent stout.
3.9 Draft at Tilt Birmingham. Poured jet black with thin dark cream head. The islay whiskey nose and taste is very prominent very good impy
4.0 On tap at Tilt This is the thing. Pine, yes... Full bodied absolutely... This is the one.
Dalej klasyczne nuty - palone podkłady kolejowe, instalacja elektryczna. W ustach piękne zaskoczenie, jakie to jest słodkie! Dochodzi mnóstwo wanilii, piwo jest bardzo złożone, wielowymiarowe. Tony czekolady, melasy, kawy, wszystko to spięte w całość potężną, Laphroaigową dymnością. Jedno z najlepszych torfowych jakie piłem.
3.4 330ml bottle. Pours nearly pitch black in color, oily, and topped by a small tan layer of foam that fades away and rejoins the body below. The aroma bursts with notes of smoke and ash from the Islay barrels up front followed by lighter notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits and whiskey soaked oak. The ash and smoke tend to overpower everything. The flavor follows suit with notes of smoke, ash, rich dark chocolate, dark fruits with cherries and prunes, and some molasses up front to go with more smoke, some woody vanilla, and whiskey. There is a touch of bitterness from smoke to balance out the sweetness from the base beer. Medium bodied and oily slick on the palate with soft carbonation that leads a Smokey, dark chocolate, dark fruit, and woody ash on the finish. Interesting to try, but the Islay barrel is just too much for me with they heavy smoke, ash, and whiskey notes.
4.3 Opaque black beer with no/a slight brown head. Medium/heavy aroma; taste starts heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Wood, whiskey, dark fruit, chocolate, roasted malts and smoke. 8/5/9/4
3.8 Bottle. Chocolate liqueur, wet wood, iodine and band-aid (peat), light nutty, coffee, very sweet. Excellent.
4.3 the aroma is caramel and chocolate with hints of roasted and smoked malt, toffee, cocoa, toast, oakwood and port... the taste is caramel and chocolate with notes of roasted malt, oakwood, whisky, toffee, cocoa and toast... the aftertaste is sweet, dry and smokey...
3.4 Barwa czarna, piana mała. Aromat to w zasadzie tylko nuty torfowe. W smaku czekolada, trochę nut palonych i dużo torfu. Alko lekko wyczuwalne. Beczka całkowicie zakryła ewentualne walory pifka. Spoko pifko.
3.9 Bottle Aroma-peat, caramel, dark fruits Appearance-brown, hazy, minimal head Taste-medium sweetness, light sour, light bitter Palate-full body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish Overall-very good
4.0 On tap. Pours black with light tan head. Aromas of peaty scotch, dark sugar, and sweet malts. Sugary flavors of chocolate and peaty oaky scotch. A little phenolic but sweetness counters. Well done sipper
4.2 Pours a pitch black coloration with a small, fizzy head that soon dissipates. Smells of roasted, caramel malt, with strong notes of smoked peat, charcoal and hints of chocolate, vanilla, licorice and tobacco. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by smokey peat, charcoal and tobacco, with additional notes of roasted, caramel malt, molasses, chocolate, vanilla, oak and hints of licorice, coffee and a certain musty/earthy note as well. Finishes quite bittersweet, with a light bitterness and sweet caramel and smokey peat notes lingering in the aftertaste. Thick mouthfeel with a rich body and light carbonation This captures that peated Islay character quite well, but is a also a little too sweet for my personal taste. The overlall balance is still quite good for such a complex brew, but suffers slightly from too much sweetness. ABV is quite well hidden though. (Euro Swap 3/2018 by jinroh)
4.0 Aroma: nice and balanced peat notes, taste id also peated with some delicate chocolate/cocoa. Alc. undetectable.
