4.4 Bottle. Pours opaque black, medium creamy brown head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is bourbon, molasses, mocha, cocoa, burnt malt, vanilla beans. Flavor is fully sweet, medium bitter, rich and decadent. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. The Estonians can make beer!
3.9 Bottle at home, 8th June 19. Pours black and thick, tan head. Aroma is black treacle, liquorice, barrel, caramel, liquor and wood. Taste is sweet, sticky, caramel, dark fruit, cognac, too sweet for me, and not the best from Pojhala,,but still a good sweet sipper
4.2 Wyraźny porterowy zapach. Beczka wniosła sporo kokosa, wanilii, do tego nuty utlenienia, lekka zbożowość i wiele czekolady. Gęste, słodkie, wyklejające. Czekolada, wanilia, kokos, nuty szlachetnego alkoholu, kawa. Nie do pomylenia z risem, świetne
4.1 Kokos, wanilia, dużo nut bourbonowych- taniny, wino. Bardzo słodkie, wręcz ulep. Alkohol ładnie ukryty.
4.7 Bottle 0,33L. Black color with small, smooth, light brown head. Excellent aroma of cognac/bourbon, roasted malts, cask wood, vanilla, chocolate. Aroma seems to be in harmony - just right amount of everything. Smooth, rich, full bodied beer with slightly sweet taste with everything from aroma involved in taste. Finish has some light bitterness. Creamy/syrupy texture with soft carbonation and full body. Outstanding!
4.4 Bottle from Tidens Farver. It pours pitch black with a creamy beige head. The aroma is heavy roasted with wood, oak, ripe fruit, light spice and tobacco. Chocolate and a whiff of coffee. Intense sweet roasted flavor. Notes of coffee, dark chocolate, wood, dark fruit, berries, spice and oak. Super complex. Very tasty. Smooth creamy texture. Wow!
3.9 Bottle sample at a tasting at Max' place. Thanks zvikar. Black. Slightly smoky, vanilla beans, some roastiness, some allspice aroma, sweet and roasty and lots of sherry and vanilla taste. Full body, syrupy texture and long finish.
4.2 Nalewa się kruczoczarne i gęste. W aromacie drewno, palone słody, karmel, szlachetny alkohol, słodkie owoce. W smaku likier, czekolada deserowa, karmel, posłodzona kawa. W posmaku bardzo beczkowe, słodkie nuty winne, wanilia, finisz długi i bardzo przyjemny. Słodkie, ale nie przesłodzone. Dobre fchuj.
(association conseillée : Lou Reed, avec l'album Magic and loss)
4.2 330 ml bottle at home, bb. 24.2.2118 - still good to drink for the celebration of 200 years of independence of Estonia. Pours a nearly black red-brown with a red brown head. Aroma of sweetish malt - toffee, chocolate, mild coffee - and distinct but not aggressive barrel notes, mild bourbon and orange zest. Full oily body with a soft carbonation, a medium bitterness a medium sweetness and some alcohol. The flavor starts with sweetish roasted malt and complex and balanced barrel notes - mild bourbon, port wine, hints of herbal liquor, lots of chocolate, molasses, cocoa, some licorice, hints of burnt wood. Finishes with some residual sweetness, roasty, coffee, some burnt wood, alcohol and a lightly warming feeling. Overall very well balanced with a good complexity, lovely barrel notes. More on the sweetish side, yet never cloying - the roasted malt is just present enough too balance the sweetness. With quiet some booze but not in an unpleasant way. Pretty characteristic, pretty good! Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 4 Overall: 18
4.1 Bogate i złożone. Bourbonowa wanilia, czerwone owoce (wiśnie, czereśnie), słodkie nuty kawy zbożowej i pralin. Gęste, likierowe i słodkie. Lekko alkoholowy finisz.
4.4 Smells thick. Vanilla. Some kind of fruit. Umami. Nutty yeast. Black with a medium tan enough retention to leave a thin layer on the surface. Really nice. Rich. Very smooth. Vanilla. Glassy. This is just real good.
W tle niuanse kawy zbożowej i wanilii. Alkohol wyczuwalny, likierowy. W smaku, zgodnie z aromatem, piwo jest słodkie, gęste, oleiste i mocno likierowe. Susz owocowy z gęstego kompotu, wiśnie przed chwilą wyciągnięte z babcinej nalewki, śliwki w czekoladzie, czy mieszanka owoców kandyzowanych. Całą tą dobroć pochłania melasa i likier czekoladowy. Finisz to delikatna nuta wanilii i wyraźne rozgrzewanie alkoholu.
3.9 Bottle, soft roast, syrup, vanilla, oak And bourbon in the aroma. Thick fluid. Alcoholic. Sweet, raisin, rye, grapes, oak, cognac. Massive but also tasty And complex.
4.5 Really warm spiced chocolate aroma, pouring blackish brown with absolutely minimal head. The palate & flavour are what makes this beer special & all sorts of comparisons can be made. However, it is the rich complexity that makes it memorable - as well as reassuring evidence of its strength. As a beer it compares well with a single malt scotch in that the alcohol complements a splendid range of spicy and chocolate/fruit strands. Decided to have this beer as a nightcap after Christmas supper - perfect.
4.0 Barwa czarna, piana mała. Aromat słodki owocowy, waniliowy, czekoladowy, lekko i dostojnie alkoholowy. W smaku suszone owoce, karmel, toffi, czekolada. Nuty bourbonowe i kawowe. Dość ciężko i bardzo słodko. Ciało potężne. Dobre pifko.
4.6 ( bottle) Aroma: vanilla, cognac, herbal notes, wood, anise Taste: sweet, flavour of chocolate, anise, cognac, vanilla, roasted malt and coffee. Palate: full body, low carbonation Overall: Damn both barrels gave its best, smooth and complex treat !
4.0 A: Lekka kawa, słodycz, karmelki, wanilia i kokos, czekolada, ciut suszonych i ciemnych owoców. S: Potężnie słodkie, sporo gorzkiej i mlecznej czekolady, lekka kawa i słodycz, dopełnienie muśnięciem ciemnych owoców z minimalną kwaskowością, trochę wychodzi alko. Po czasie coraz więcej owoców. Goryczka średnio wysoka, palona, długa. Mogłoby być ciut więcej koniaku.
5.0 Bottle at home. Black with a tan, creamy, frothy head subsiding to a rim. Scent is medium notes of rye and caramel with some capsaicin properties. Taste is dense, caramel, thick herbal rye and vanilla. Salivic. Very big. Slightly dry and smoky finish. Brilliant.
4.0 33 cl bottle. BBE 24.02.2118. Pours black color with a small off-white head. Aroma is quite intense with vinous notes, alcohol comes through a bit, toasted malts, some dark chocolate, licorice. Flavor is chocolaty, syrupy, sweet caramel, toffee tones, licorice, faint cocoa and rye, dark toasted malty finish. A bit sweet yes but still surprisingly drinkable, lovely. 6425
3.7 33 cl bottle @ home. Batch #600 BBE 24.02.2118 (sic) Aroma has liquor tones, licorice and alcohol. Flavour has alcohol, strong and sweet rye tones, liquor and some mild herbal tones. A good slow sipper, a tad too sweet though for even that purpose. Gotta love the BBE, the only beer that holds up longer is Djævlebryg Old Mephisto. Taken that doomsday is after year 2118.
3.9 At Max Place, pours black with a small head, aroma of chocolate, coffee, toffee, wood, cognac, flavor of chocolate coffee, wood, toffee, cognac, salty, wood, medium to full bodied, very nice
3.6 0,33l bottle at home. BB 24.02.2118(?). black color, small coffee colored head. smells bourbon, soy sauce, earthy notes, nutty, marzipan, light dried fruits, some toasty notes, . full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of bourbon, light sweetness, molasses, marzipan, nutty, hints of veggies, soy sauce, light sherry, spices, peppery. finishes light to medium sweet with notes of marzipan, molasses and some sherry notes. not bad, but too sweet and too much sherry and soy. overall nice one though.
4.1 Bottle at home. Black body with a medium light brown head. Chocolate, soy, roasted malt, bourbon, dark fruits, cognac notes, charcoal, caramel. Very complex. Good.
3.8 Bottle at Brewdog Tallinn. Pours dark brown colour. Moderate beige head. Very slight sourness, notes of bread, liqeur infused raisins, toffee and creamy caramel, slight notes of port in the aroma. Cocoa and chocolate at first. Slight sourness and raisins in the middle. Lots of nyancses of course. Chocolate in the end. Slightly alcocholy, bit spicy, creamy and caramelly aftertaste. Overall the beer is rather sweet. But in some point the palate changes rather dry. Still the sweetness overpowers a bit the taste. However it is great brew. I think in some pount I felt the taste of Vana Tallinn as well.
3.9 Good choco with alcohol nose, herbs and a sweet undertones from barrrel aging, black with a good tan head, full body, sticky, taste is similar with again a good mix of herbs and alcohol, like a liquor...good like always pohjala.
