3.8 On tap @Holy Craft Beer,, Dusseldorf. 19/11/2022. Color negro opaco corona de espuma, sabor y aromas tostados, café,licor, cuerpo sedoso.
3.9 From a 330 ml bottle on 6/8/2022. Pours near black with not much head. Has a strong coconut aroma with some chocolate in the mix. The flavour is again quite strongly of choc coconut. Don’t really get much coffee though. Medium roasty bitterness at the back. Thick mouthfeel and softish carbonation. Very nice big sipper.
4.1 Stout, liquoreuse, trop bon goût de café , noix de coco vanille. Top
4.5 A Pohjala imperial stout, going a good direction I think and hope. One of the higher level beers purchased at Amathus Soho on a visit to London a few months ago. I ready to sample now, my New Belgium globe glass awaits. More black than brown on the pour with little in the way of a head. The scent gives up chocolate and grain but the labeled adjuncts are at bay. I lift for a sip, oh my, this is spectacular. Whole grain bread, bakers chocolate, toffee, an intrusion from the coconut, some coffee background, sorghum, a strawberry sweetness, malt and dark plums. The 12.5% abv is noted by its burn on the way down. Truly an enjoyable imperial stout, broad and rich and tasty.
4.0 These days I’m turning off flavored stouts more. But this is an excellent example of how it can be done well. Very pleasant coconut aromas, fine carbonation and a spicy quality to the taste that works great with the sweetness. A lovey sipper and nicely priced too.
3.9 Tap@Bootleggers, Copenhagen (02/07/2022) - Intense dark roasted sweet malty with lots of chocolate, caramel, big coffee roast, coconut, ashy charred earthy malt, layers of spice, full bodied, dark roasted sweet malty close.
4.4 Pours extremely dark but not quite jet black...nice 1cm of golden brown head which gently fades away to leave some lovely lacing and a few remaining isolated bubble islands. Taste is sweet at the start, with a lovely chocolatey, malty, coconut hit, then a dark ever so slightly bitter toffee finish, compliments the overall pleasurable experience. Gentle carbonation. Definitely a nice Imperial stout to sip on one of those chilled out, sit back and enjoy moments, and an absolute bargain pricewise!...especially verses the extremely overpriced competition in the rest of the Imperial stout world! Definitely an experience to repeat and want again...
4.1 Black pour. Thin foam. Sweet flavor of cocoa and coconut. Very delicious. No carbonation.
4.1 Dark chocolate nose lesser coconut notes. Black, thin head. Rich chocolate syrup, raisin, molasses, coffee. Full body, silky mouthfeel, warm. A bit sweet, but so damn delicious.
4.2 Pours dark chocolate with a good cocoa head. Aroma yields roast malt, coconut, chocolate and subtle coffee notes. Flavor brings chocolate, roast malt, coconut, coffee and slight molasses tones. Texture presents decent body and lively fizz. Drink it on, cocobäng a gong!
3.8 Bottle. Pours near black with a slight ruby hue and a thin brown head that dissipates quickly and nearly completely. Aroma has a good amount of coffee with a growing coconut and some bitter dark grains backing. Flavor is much more coconut forward with growing bitterness from the coffee and a dark grain backbone.
4.3 (Bottle) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, dark chocolate, coconut, black rye bread and burnt sugar. Malty, roasted, sweet taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, toasted coconut, black bread, brown sugar and a balanced roasty bitterness in the finish. Full body, really sweet. Ok, possibly a bit too sweet, but really rich and tasty with lots of chocolate and coconut. A dessert on its own. Very nice.
3.9 Colore marrone scuro, schiuma praticamente assente.
3.7 330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 12.5%. Pitch black colour, small brown head of poor retention. Aroma of roast malts, coconut, molasses, coffee, hints of vanilla and chocolate. Moderate to low carbonation, rich mouthfeel. Very sweet flavour (too sweet), with the same elements as in the aroma.
3.9 Shared 12 oz. bottle poured to a snifter showing a black/brown hue, with a bubbly layer of brownish tan froth, and ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was roasted, mocha notes, earthiness, slight ripeness of dark fruit, with hints of caramel, vanilla and toasted coconut. Medium to full bodied, the taste was as the aroma notes, with appropriate sweetness, well integrated alcohol, and a roasted coffee finish.
4.1 Bottle to snifter, shared with the Mrs. Looks good; a lightly translucent very dark (almost dull black) cola with bubbly dark beige head that slowly but steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes of dark malt, coconut, coffee, and chocolate. Mouthfeel is full-vodied, mildly to moderately warming, and pleasantly bitter with a touch of a toasted presence from the coconut. An enjoyable sipper.
4.1 Draft at Old Devil Moon. Black with a small brown head. Huge aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, coconut. Balanced flavor with medium sweetness and big rich Mounds bar and coffee, light bitterness. Full body, smooth feel. Nice.
4.1 15/1/2022. Bottle from Beerdome online store shared with ITFCDan. Pours black with a small tan coloured head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, liquorice, coffee, cocoa and coconut. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Full bodied, slick texture, average carbonation. Very good.
3.9 sweet, bold, loads of caramel, vanilla, dried red fruits aromas. moderate bitterness, moderate hops flavor, thick oily texture. overall good balance with sweetnes a bit ahead.
3.9 Big time coconut and chocolate aroma, not much coffee. Glossy black color with a brown head. The taste has some of the coffee, plus plenty of the coconut and chocolate from the aroma. Very sweet taste and finish. Pretty good.
4.4 no mając takie piwo, nie potrzeba miec ekspresu automatycznego. Bardzo kawowe, baardzo. intensywna palonosc, goryczka doskonala, tresciwe, ciezkawe, zlozone piwo. pachnie kawa, mleczkiem kokosowym, w posmaku mleczno-kokosowe, kawowe, spora gorycz wraz z palonoscia tworzy trwala warstwe posmaku na podniebieniu, doskonale to tra niczym ruski miesiac. Barwa ciemno-brazowa, nie przejrzysta, barwa piany bardzo, bardzo ciemna, tez brazowa, praktycznie niewiele jasniejsza co sama ciecz. oleiscie sie nalewa, spora tlustosc i sytosc, jedyne czego sie mozna czepiac to trwalosc tej piany, niestety znika szybciutenko.
4.0 Ordered online from the LCBO, started while getting the supper ready, nice and thick, a bit on the bitter side for the chocolate, but definitely worth it.
3.6 Black pour with mocha head. Lots of char and roasted malt, maybe that's the coffee too, but it seems overwhelmed. Coconut is light at first but comes out as it warms.
3.9 Roast, coconut and dark chocolate. Lighter sense of coffee. Bitter finish with a little bark. Some booze. Decent stuff. Texture a little syrupy. Tap at Shelter.
4.0 11.2 oz bottle from the Party Source. Pours dark brown to black in color with a smaller khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, toasted coconut, earthy, some dark fruit early that gives way to the roasted coffee and coconut, the BA version should be interesting, very different and much better than the other Pohjala beer I had this evening.
4.0 Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, and coconut. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, dark fruit, and mild coconut. Nice.
4.0 Shared with Wim at his home. Black colored beer with small brown head and no carbonation visible. Coco malty coffee mucca aroma. Full slight sparkling palate. Finish coco mucca bitter coffee dry. Very nice. Reminder for what we do this!
