3.5 Musta olut melko runsaalla keskiruskealla ja höttöisellä, pitsiä jättävällä vaahdolla. Eksoottisen hedelmäinen, lähinnä greippinen sekä havuinen tuoksu. Maku greippinen, pehmeän pihkaisen maltainen, hieman kitkerän paahteinen ja havuinen. Keskitäyteläinen, matalahiilihappoinen melko mielenkiintoinen kokonaisuus.
3.4 Bottle. Pours a dark brown black color with a long-lasting off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty caramel hoppy aroma. Fruity malty caramel hoppy bitter flavor. Has a slightly roasted malty caramel hoppy bitter finish.
3.7 On tap at Grünerløkka Brygghus, april 2nd 2016. Black body with a tanned head. Aroma is roasty with blueberry notes and pine. Taste is floral, coffee, mild licorice. Pleasant roasty finish with a mild berry note. Pretty good.

3.8 ON bottle from great shop in Tallinn, (Humula something). Pitch black color, good foam. Medium aroma intensity; hops, pine, roasty, leather, malt and very light bluberries (hard to notice). Medium/full body & complexity. Solid bitterness, balances well. Very enjoyable
4.0 Aroma: Medium aroma of malts, caramel, dark fruit, tropical fruit, pine, roasted malts and hops. Appearance: Turbid/opaque ruby/dark brown beer with a medium brown head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, tropical fruit and pine; ends slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts and hops. Overall: This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Especially for the 5.4abv, this beer is extremely pleasant. The ’beer ingredients’, malts and hops, and the added ingredients, blueberries and pine needles, work great together.
3.8 Black with lasting head. Interesting flavour with lots of fruity, berry notes. There’s some tartness and sweetness. Finish has roasted malt bitterness.

4.5 Põhjala Pesakond has a lot going on and in a good way. Pours pitch black with a thick tan head. Aroma is like a spruce forest. Taste is an interesting mix of spruce, peat, chocolate and blueberries all in a drinkable medium body. It really is an interesting balance. Pesakond is highly recommended and I am looking forward to my next Estonian beer! Who would have thought.
4.0 Really dark brown color with tan head. Aroma has dark malts, dark fruits and lots of dank hops. Taste starts fruity, slightly smokey and roasty. Finish is also fruity with berry notes but also bitter coffee. Light to medium body but the mouthfeel is really smooth. Overall it’s a unique tasting black IPA with lots of forest fruits and roasted malts.

3.9 33cl exchanging Freiburg Friendly Fire during Berliner Weiße Gipfel, tänan Peeter. - Blueberries, exotic hop fruit oils and spruce tips mixed to a mutually refreshing sparkle, mixed on cocoa-ashen malts. - Expressive nose, blueberry sweetness travelling in a minty-fresh spruce forest, contained by US C-hops. Well-engineered. Taste sees some ashen chocolate or dark malt accents which become more prominent towards the finish (filter coffee dregs), especially for a 5,4% "BAPA". Over all captures the essense of Schwarzwald quite originally, in fact with much more freshness and elegance, at such an Estonian distance than many a chocolate stout with brandy-soaked cherries.

4.0 Na początku z butelko aromat palonego słonecznika. Po przelaniu do szkła wychodzi nuta amerykańskiego chmielu, żywica, lekki owoce tropikalne. W drugiej nucie jagody. W smaku średnia goryczka. Znów pojawiają się jagody, szczególnie w posmaku. Lekka nuta leśna, pewne od świerku. Dość wytrawne. Nie bardzo mocno wysycone.
3.6 Drank with Liedewij 22-4-16. Okay black IPA, fine fresh nice hoppy taste, with the hints of the black malts. Easily drinkable.
