4.3 Dark Night, in Estonian. Dark, roasty, cocoa, soy sauce, licorice and burnt sugar on the nose. Thick black pour, moderate tan head, with good retention and lacing. Taste is an explosion. Fantastic: roasted grain, cocoa, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, caramel, dark fruits, mild licorice. Soy sauce is gone. The after taste remind me of me licking the spoon after my mum made caramel by burning white sugar. Thick, viscous, low carbonation, booze very hidden, surprisingly smooth for its ABV. I had had some BA version time ago, but the original is already a bomb. Massive beer.
3.9 11.2 oz. Aroma starts out nearly overpowering, but it mellows out considerably, leaving a great smelling beer with notes of fudge, coffee, raisin, booze, smoke, molasses, earth. Pours like motor oil with no head, just a thin collar of beige foam. Taste is highly sweet and a bit savory with a moderately bitter edge. A nice sipper.
4.0 Piwne archiwum. Ocena wystawiona w celu uzupełnienia profilu na RB. Cheers! Instagram/czgr_
3.8 Bevuta in bottiglia. Birra scura molto aromatica e corposa. Finale un po' troppo dolce. Comunque Pohjala è sempre una garanzia.
4.4 From a 330ml bottle on 13/10/2021. Pours close to black with virtually no head. The nose features brown sugar and dark fruit. Flavour wise, it's huge and very dessertish - burnt brown sugar and caramel, treacle, dark chocolate, dates and raisins, with the edge taken off by a decent vegemite and roasty bitterness. The mouthfeel is super syrupy, the carbonation soft. Comes across as strong but goes down way too easy for 13.6%. Complex, intense and simply magnificent. I'm actually one eighth Estonian and feeling very proud as I finish off this absolutely cracking beer.
3.8 Bottle. Black with a brown head that fizzes away in a hurry. Aroma of roast, caramel, mocha, some raw nuts - robust, well integrated. Sweet with roast, brioche, nuts, mocha, light licorice, spices. No overt alcohol - holy crap, it's 13.6%! Lowish bitterness but the sweetness does get pinched off nicely. Good stuff but doesn't really justify the booze.
3.0 Well, I guess sometimes one has to be disapponted^ do go from one frenzy of appreciation to another is a monotonous scenario. This beer is a bit of letdown. Nothing disastrous, it's very well made, but...It's really too sweet. The sweetness dominates everything else, the stout is just not well-balanced. I didn't hate it but surely won't return to it.
3.5 bottle. pitch dark, brown head. slightly boozy aroma, almost phenolic but indeed strong alcohol, wood, hard roasted malts, glue. the alc. seems to get in the way of the more nuanced things in the aroma. flavor is roasted malts, dark dried fruits, syrup, metal container. not too sweet, but far from one of the best pohjala dark beers i've had. it's like it's not entirely finished yet. throw this on another barrel, anything, and it might get real good, take off some of the sharper edges. decent imp. stout, but very brutal.
3.9 Bottle of 33cl. Pours black. Aroma are smokey, heavy malty, roasted, a little caramelish. Heavy sweat finish. A lot of alcohol ^^
3.7 (Bottle) Black colour with frothy, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of sweet espresso, dark chocolate, treacle, raisins, prunes and burnt sugar. Malty, roasted taste with sweet espresso, treacle, dark chocolate, sweet liquorice, burnt sugar, sultanas, oloroso sherry and a mild coffee bitterness in the finish. Full body, really sweet. Thick and heavy mouthfeel. Not very complex, mainly dark, roasted and sweet. Powerfull and tasty, but too sweet for brilliant. Still, nice one.
3.9 Delt med EgilB på Lillehøgda. Svart.
4.0 33cl Bottle @ Zombier, Malaga, Spain. Black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, licorice. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, molasses, licorice, mugicha, alcohol. Full body, soft carbonation.
4.1 Pours black as orc blood with a ring of brown foam. The aroma is tenebrous, as though it's coming from the bowels of the Earth. Smells like soaked wooden logs after a long and heavy rain. Moss, petrichor and mud. Tobacco, leather, hints of espresso. This is a deep and complex nose that isn't overpowered by the sweetness that is to come. Molasses, figs, and black cherries. The flavor is a punch in the mouth. The first taste is maple syrup and bourbon. Very sweet. Dessert-like. Fudgy brownies, milk chocolate, vanilla bean ice cream, caramel sauce, hazelnut spread, and strawberry jelly. Finishes sweet with subtle roasted coffee bitterness. Long aftertaste like churros with cinnamon and dark brown sugar — and as this fades it leaves behind the memory of an overly sweet Earl Grey latte. Syrupy mouthfeel, this is a sauce to be drizzled over ice cream or chocolate cake. You have to drink Pime Öö slowly because it feels like a coat of caramel on your tongue with every sip. With a bit less sweetness this would have been incredible.
Corps bien liquoreux.Fin sur le coté sucré cuit. Pas mal
3.7 330ml bottle at the Farmers Bar, Puchong, Malaysia. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, red berry fruits. The flavour is strong sweet, with a big, rich, oily, raisin, light chocolate, liqourice, big sweet honey, light warm alcohol palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation. Well hidden alcohol. Nice but very sweet. A sipper for sure, unless you are a ticker of course in which case you glug this 13.6% Imperial Stout like it was a session IPA then you line up the next one. What’s happened to me 🤪
5.0 Awesome
3.8 Bottle. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, molasses, pralines, some coffee, roast, dried fruits. Taste is heavy sweet and light+ bitter, dark chocolate, pralines, molasses, prunes, dried fruits, some coffee, with roasty and chocolate finish. Full body, oily, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. A bit too sweet, but very tasty, powerful imperial stout.
4.0 Butelka z datą: 02.01.21 581 Czarne i nieprzejrzyste, piana ciemnobrązowa, średnie bąble, maluje szkło. Redukuje do obrączki, a po otwarciu lekko pracowała w szyjce butelki. Aromat to intensywna gorzka czekolada, praliny czekoladowe i kawa. W tle lekka nuta suszonych daktyli. No i szybko wchodzi do głowy. Zdecydowanie deserowa rzecz...
3.7 Pours almost black with minimal beige head. Aroma is black bread, mämmi, cinnamon, band-aid, cheese. Taste is very sweet, viscous, thick, soft carbonation. Not quite in balance.
3.6 Bottle at home. Pours opaque jet black with a small, bubbly tan head, short retention. Heavy rich dark malt, rich chocolate, light coffee and roast character, figs and prunes, light smoke notes, light woody hops and hop bitterness, and a sweet finish. Full body and medium-light carbonation.
4.0 Black pour, brown head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, and smoke. Taste follows, very smoky and rich.
3.8 Bottle. Pour jet black with a reddish hue. Nose is sweet notes of booze, molasses, chocolate and light smoke. Taste is huge chocolate and molasses, some warming booze, rather sweet but manages to not become overwhelming. Closes with long lasting sweet finish, has a medium to heavy oily body and soft carbonation. Solid non-adjunct impy.
4.2 Bottle from Park Fever, Hither Green. Jet black pour with a tan head. Nose is cola, cinnamon, treacle toffee, coffee, dark fruit, dark chocolate. Gullet warming flavours of liquorice toffee, cola, roasted sweet spice, camp coffee, smoke, more treacle toffee. Long dry sweet spicy finish. Yum - and perhaps I might venture - yum!
4.8 AR: Röstmalz, Leder, Rauch, Schinken, Sojasosse, Schokolade AP: pechschwarz TA: süss, Röstmalz, Schinken, Sojasosse, Leder, Dörrobst, rote Beeren, Portwein
4.5 W aromacie bardzo intensywne nuty czekolady. Do tego nuta kakaowca. Lekka wędzoność. Jest też sporo ziołowej goryczki. Pachnie jak wytrawny, czekoladowo-ziołowy likier. Do tego nuty orzechówki. W smaku bardzo przyjemnie czekoladowy, z nutami czerwonych owoców. Alkohol zdecydowanie grzeje w ustach i przełyku. Ale nie jest nachalny. Nisko wysycone, świetnie skomponowane. Rewelacyjny RIS.
3.7 Bottled 330ml. -from Goblet Zagreb. Pitch black coloured, small to medium sized brownish head that went away fast, chocolate and licorice in the nose. Sweet roasted malt, dark chocolate, licorice, touch of wood and alcohol with rather sweet finish.
