3.5 Tap at Graalic, Oulu. Pours light brown color with small head. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, malts, sweetness. Medium bitterness and body.
3.5 Tap@kaisla. Amber color with off-white silky head. Aroma has tropical fruits, grape. Taste is fruity with quite long bitter aftertaste. Flavors of grapefruit, malt, grassy hops.
3.6 Clear, brownish copper colour with light tan lacing. Aroma has malts and plenty of grapefruit, some caramel. Taste is medium hoppy, a bit fruity towards the end. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice actually, not too fruity.
Feines Teil!
3.5 Bottle @Craigs (The Budget week tasting, rating backlog). Pours amber cloudy and a thin slightly off white head. Nose is grapefruit, not s shock i know, slight toffee as well. Taste is bang along the same as the nose.
3.8 Expired bottle from de Caigny in Essen, Belgium. The beer is hazy golden to amber colored and has a large and creamy foam with nice carbonation. The aroma is malty and hoppy, with notes of caramel malts, grass, yeast, spices and grapefruits. Taste is dry and hoppy with spices, yeast, hops and grapefruits and some citrus. The finish is refreshingly dry and pretty bitter.
3.3 Bottle at Craigs. Hazy golden. Nose is faint fruits and hops. Tastes .. old, unfortunately this bittle is quite old. Fizzy, not really hops...
3.1 Bottle at Craig’s. Hazy golden, light gusher. Aromas of grapefruit. Dry taste, light fruit. Dry finish.
3.4 Bottle at Craigs. Pours golden orange, nose is grapefruit, toffee, vanilla, taste is sweet, juicy citrus.
3.1 bottle at home ... golden amber .. thin white lacing ... soft dry fruit .. soft toffee fruit npose .. dry toffee fruit .. tart grapefruit .. long toffee fruit
3.6 Golden colour with light haze. Aroma and flavour certainly have plenty of citrusy sharp grapefruit.
4.2 Amber colour with orange hint, white head. Rich citrus aromas, grapefruit, lemon, caramel. Medoum body with very fresh taste.
3.5 Zapach średnio intensywny, słód, grejpfrut, owoce tropikalne, karmel, herbatniki. Kolor bursztynowy, mętne. Piana niska, drobna, średnio trwała, zdobi szkło. W smaku umiarkowana słodycz, średnia pełnia, słód, grejpfrut, owoce tropikalne, karmel. Goryczka średnia, wysycenie średnie.
3.6 Hazy amber color with a big frothy white head. Nose is pine, resin, subdued notes of grapefruit. Taste is pine, peaches, grapegruit. Bittersweet finish. Creamy texture, medium carbonation.
3.2 Very nice grapefruit taste and aroma, but maybe I got too old bottle, because bitterness was too harsh for me. Without it really refreshing beer.
3.4 33cl. 275. Slightly sour, tangy, grapefruit bitter IPA. Clean and straightforward. Good palate, tasty, nicely smelling and enjoyable to the last drop.
3.8 On tap at Bevog Who Cares Festival, 2016. Pours hazy orange with white head. Fruity, hoppy, grapefruit, malty, some caramel. Sweetish with bitter finish. Smooth. Medium bodied.
4.0 Bottle at Struise shop in Bruges. Very thick, rocky, bath foam-like, egg-white head over an initially clear, warm and deep amber-tinged orange blonde beer. Rich aroma teeming with fresh pink grapefruit (flesh and peel), hints of moldy orange, granadilla, lychee, kiwi, dried mango, biscuit, pink pepper, sundried tomatoes, green apple peel, lime zest. Vivid but clean fruitiness in the mouth, hints of mango, lime and passion fruit, with sweetness and soft sourishness well balanced against each other; softish carbo, supple and somewhat ’fluffy’ mouthfeel. Biscuity and lightly caramelly malt sweet core, supporting a wealth of aromatic hoppiness which unfolds in the end, producing retronasal aromas of mango, marihuana and passion fruit, but, as expected, grapefruit more than anything else; the added grapefruit reinforces this effect without disturbing it. Soft aromatic and spicy bitterness lingers. I like the idea of ’fruiting’ IPAs in order to accentuate the fruity properties of these New World hops, but this idea does not always turn out right; in this case, however, it is beautifully done.
3.5 330ml Bottle - Hazy copper in colour. Grapefruit, pine and toffee in the aroma. Hoppy, fruity and tangy taste with pine, grapefruit, sultanas and dried apricot standing out. Quite nice and not artificial like some grapefruit IPAs but I prefer the original Virmalised.
3.5 Bottle from 100 Beers in Sofia. Yes, the guy there convinced me to buy all the Põhjala beers. No, I don’t regret it for a second. This beer pours hazy copper like an old penny with a one-finger white head and some lacing. The aroma blasts your ass out with grapefruit. As intense if not more so than the much-revered Grapefruit Sculpin from stateside. But as Eminem (or Jimmy Smith?) would say, hold your nose cuz here goes the cold water...this has one of the biggest flavor/aroma differentials I’ve ever experienced in a beer. On the aroma, the grapefruit is huge. The flavor is a letdown, albeit still not bad. The grapefruit is subdued, and other than that, it’s not that interesting, just a standard IPA, fairly dry, medium hop bitterness. The palate once again picks up the slack, crisp and well-carbonated. Overall, not bad. Dat flava doe, could be better.
3.8 33cl. Bottle. Pours clear orange with white head. Aroma citrus, grapefruit, juice, pine. Taste piney citrus bitter, grapfruit sour. Mouthfeel dry. Great brew.
4.0 Bottle from uba ja humal. Hazy orange with large head. Fruity, fresh grapefruit juice. Quite crispy bitterness. Some sweetness. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.5 Bottle. Deep orange color with white head. Aroma is pink grapefruit, some grapefruit hops as well, a bit toasted malts, some herbal hops. Taste is juicy grapefruit, toasted malts, rather lightbodied. Nice refreshing tartness. Medium carbonation. Quite interesting, one of the better Grapefruit IPAs I’ve had.
3.7 Bottle. Teku. Deep amber, medium hazy with medium, white, semi-densed head. Poor head retention and average lacing. Aroma is malty (caramel), citrus (grapefruit and ripe oranges), tea-like, herbal, mint, light grassy notes. Moderately bitter - quite constant thru the whole of degustation, some dull malty sweetness from the middle. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, finish is semi-bitter, orange juice and herbal. In general the beer is similar to Stateside IPA from Mikkeller with not so packed caramel notes and more herbal, the-like nose and taste. Quite noticeable pomelo accents. Still drinkable and refreshing, very unconditional.
3.6 Bottle 330ml. Apperance: Dark golden, with a bit hazy, small grey, very short-lasting head. Aroma; Prety amazing grapefruit aroma, whih only lasts for a short time after that it becomes the average mix of poine, tropical fruits and caramel Taste: moderate bitter, resin and citrus up front and some delicate sweetness. Dyr finish.Grapefruit comes back in the aftertaste. medium body, slightly below average carbonation. Good, and in some spots more but overall not as impresive as the non grapefruit version allthough freshness might have played a role.
3.5 Sprawiedliwa mysle moja ocena tego piwa. Zapach typowo grejfrutowy, troszke owocowtropikalnych w tle. Piana gruba, wolnoopadajaca. Lekko metne.
3.5 L: -pours a cloudy amber-orange with a small, quickly dissipating, foamy, offwhite head S: -grapefruit,orange zest, tangernes, grassy, pine T: -Follows the nose plus breadiness, and graininess. -medium bitterniss for the style F: -medium carbonation -light to medium body O: Just a good IPA.
