2.1 12 oz. bottle. Poors clear Amber. Decent head. Rich malt taste. Light to moderate finish.
3.3 Bottle. Clear, dark copper color with a small to medium head. Aroma was a sweet nutty, smell. Taste was well balanced with a nice malty flavor upfront, slightly sweet in the middle with a clean, slightly bitter finish.
2.5 Bottle from Cellar Door, Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield. Pours amber-orange, low carbonation. Aroma of malts, caramel, sugars...Taste of sweet malts, then some wheatiness, honey...very drying, not great.
2.4 330ml bottle @ The Alb, Shrewsbury. The only vaguely-drinkable option in the place. Pours amber with bubbly white head. Old biscuit malts in the taste, with a tired sweetness and some herbal elements. A touch sticky,
3.7 12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 1/29/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep copper/amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light earthy herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Nicely clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is a nice Vienna lager style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
2.5 Poured into a perfect pint. 2.75 A: Clear orange amber color. Two fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is below average and very little lacing is left. 2.75 S: Quite bland this one is. The other Stevens beers I’ve had haven’t been spectacular, but they all had more going on than this one. Grainy maltiness with a touch of caramel sweetness. 2.75 T: Taste is like the nose. It’s a pretty standard amber except that it’s much weaker than the standard amber. Grainy malts with caramel sweetness. 3.75 M: The mouthfeel is the best part of the brew. Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Very pleasant creaminess. 3.0 D: Pretty unimpressive amber ale. DavoleBomb, Jul 08, 2013
3.2 bottle, from jaghana, merci! Amber-golden with a beige head. Malty, hints of nuts and caramel, some chocolate. Good.
3.8 Darker than ’normal’ lager. Small white head. Pure malt flavoured. There is a flavour at back of tongue that I can’t quite place but which adds plenty to this beer. Very nice with a slight and unexpected bitter finish.
3.0 Clear copper with a large slightly off-white head that dissipates quickly. Very sweet and slightly floral aroma. Plenty of malt flavours, quite sweet, a little floral, slightly earthy. Decent, not outstanding.
2.9 Bottle from a B&M Bargains. Pale amber in colour with a short-lived, off-white, head. Slightly tired cereal malts, grassy, bittering, hops and a yeasty finish. Ok.
3.0 Bottle. A gift from Button. I’m beginning to think he doesn’t think too much of me. Clear, copper colour. Filmy, white head. Sweet, fruity hop. Hint of biscuit malt. Taste is sugary, then dry. Thin palate. Dry on the finish.
2.6 Sampled @ ChrisO after GBBF day 2. Clear golden to light amber color, small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, quite bitter, lightly a sweetish grainy touch.
3.3 Copper coloured with little head, lovely body and not over carbonated. This is actually a lovely smooth lager with a full flavour
3.2 12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden amber to orange with a small off white head. Bitter, light fruity and ligt herbal. Bitter, dry and hoppy into the finish.
2.1 Bottle from Waitrose in East Cowes. Pours out in a light amber colour with low head and medium body. Aroma of barley and light malt. Taste of old malt, light barley, mild hops, old bread and sour berries. Just a very unpleasant and untasty mixture. Unbalanced. Not that bad, but quite awful stuff.
3.0 Botle shared with McTapps. Highly drinkable piwo with a nice viena nose of nuts, caramel, bit of sugar and bread. Quaffy and mild with a bit of herbs in the aftertaste. Syrup finishing it off. Good and classic brew without being rocket science.
2.9 Bottle 355ml, labelled as "Amber Lager". A copper beer with low head. Nose is on caramel and ligt resin. Aroma is on caramel, pine, light honey, body is a bit watery, oranges notes at the finish.
1.9 Drank from a twelve ounce bottle. I was excited to try this one from Stevens Point Brewery, wasn’t very good. All of their beers have well-balanced and had the proper care, this just wasn’t very good.
3.5 Bottle as home as Point Amber Lager. Pours dark golden with a white head. Aroma is fruity with Belgian yeast. Some wheat. Sweet sugar.
2.2 Nice cold, but I cant get over the hallertauer hops....makes me think this is a busch amber, if there is such a thing. Pretty light body too. Thanks Erin.
3.5 From the pour I got a clear reddish amber body with a small creamy off white head. This small head fades to a very thin layer of foam that disappears about half way down the glass. On the way it makes some slick lacing. The aroma light overall and has a thin maltiness with light hops and a slight metallic presence. The flavor matches the aroma with a light/thin body. A simple (but not off putting in any) mild maltiness gives way to a thin herbal hop fading finish. Its light on the palate add side down easily.
3.5 Not a bad drink, needs to be cold, had it from a bottle from B&M in the UK.
3.4 A mid amber coloured beer with a weak white head. A light aroma, piney hops and roasted malt. Dry mouthfeel. The taste starts off with a tart, piney and fruity hop flavour. Then a smooth slightly roasted, caramel malt flavour comes through that leaves a well-balanced finish.
3.4 Bottle from Lebowskis. Appearance - amber brown and pours a decent head. Nose - toffee and a touch screen orange zest. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied, with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Slightly sweet maybe. Overall - solid though not as fresh as I’d expect from US craft.
3.4 clear dark orange, barely amber colour doesn’t even resemble lager to be fair the froth soon disappears and settles leaving you to enjoy the taste without to much hindrance from the fiz . for the price i paid of 79p its a excellent drink which i would recommend .
2.8 Pours a clear dark orange, barely amber body. The fluffy off-white head settles down quickly, leaving some lacing on the glass. Nose is malty with some spicy notes on the side. Taste is quite malty at first but is then followed by a spicy bitterness and a dry finish with some metallic notes to it. Carbonation is medium and the mouthfeel is a bit watery. A decent beer with a fairly malty character which could be a little darker in color and smoother on the tongue.
4.0 Pours a clear deep amber color with off-white head. Caramel malt, some toffee, and a bit of roast on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with some nice maltiness. A very good example of the style.
3.0 Bottle from B&M Stockton. Amber with a white head. Not a bad bit of flavour to this. Some sweetness, fruity malts and caramel. Not bad.
3.6 caramel, bread, dough from an amber body thick foamy white head, medium sweetness, lightly sour, medium body, creamy, average carbonation, very nice and for 79p a bottle its win, win!
