2009 will be the inaugural release of this winter time classic. After brewing the 2008 batch of Santa’s we thought “wonder what this would taste like aged in a bourbon barrel?”

4.2 Stało u mnie jakiś rok. Piwo koloru czarnego z beżową pianką, która szybko redukuje się do pierścienia oblepiającego ścianki szkła. W aromacie bardzo beczkowo, bourbonowo, waniliowo, kokosowo, przebija się też nieśmiało kawa i karmel. W smaku na pierwszym planie bourbon, piwo bardzo zdominowane przez beczkę. Jest kokos, wanilia, orzechy włoskie, kakao, karmel, paloność, mleczna czekolada na finiszu. Alkohol niewyczuwalny, nawet w przełyku nie pali. Sporo ciała, gładka i przyjemna faktura, wysycenie niskie. Fajne piwko, zwłaszcza dla fanów piw leżakowanych w beczce po bourbonie. Ona zdecydowanie tu dominuje.

3.9 Strong oak notes, more dark fruits (plums, dates, raisin) than choco or roast, very intense, pitch black with a good brown head, full body, quite thick, average carbonation, taste is similar with a strong booziness (maybe too much)...but afterall a good irs.

4.0 Subtle aroma of plums drown in chocolate, vanilla, oak, raisins. Taste is on the dry side with roasted notes, chocolate liquor. Quite alcoholic, especially in the aftertaste.

4.4 A dark brown beer with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet, brown sugar and molasses. Taste is sweet and malty, tons of bourbon, licorice and caramel. Great beer

4.1 Pitch black color. Big ash, dark chocolate, dark fruit in the nose with tons of bourbon and vanilla. Big mouth, tons of dark chocolate, ash, bourbon, oak, low carbonation. Very rounded but slightly boozy. Very nice classic US BA impy

4.2 Piana obfita, drobna i dość trwała, barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. W zapachu piękna wanilia, kokos, lody czekoladowe, drewno... W smaku sporo słodyczy, głównie praliny, ciasto murzynek, kakao, karmel, wanilia, cappuccino... Goryczka palona, średnia, dość mocny bourbonowy alkohol w posmaku, niskie wysycenie, niezbyt tęgie ciało. Bardzo dobre, intensywne piwo, wyraźnie wyczuwalne nuty beczki, bourbonu i ciemnych słodów, świetny balans słodyczy - paloności - goryczki. Może nieco brakło gęstości i ułożenia procentów - zapewne warto wrzucić rok na leżak i mamy sztosa ;)

4.2 Malty and a bit roasty.Aroma’. Aroma’s like nose, balanced at first with a bitter finish.

4.1 W aromacie dużo kokosa. W smaku pumpernikiel i deserowa czekolada, do tego kakao i wanilia. Nie jest gęste i oblepiajace. Dobre, brakuje tylko trochę ciała. Trochę alkoholu od bourbonu czuć.

4.8 Vintage 2016, bottled in July 2016 as I suppose. Poured into snifter. Aroma: huge bourbon, loads of vanilla, belgian pralines. Pours jet black with minimal beige very fast reducing head. Very heavy sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness. Belgian pralines. Chocolates with bourbon infused. Vanilla. Oak barrel. WOW! Super full bodied,oily and sticky. Almost chewy actually. Totally flat. This is second Port Brewing barrel aged RIS I’m drinking. I find it much better than Older Viscosity. More dense, fuller, round and much more balanced. Perhaps I should’ve aged Older Viscosity at least few months more.

2.9 Geproefd @ RBBWG2017. Kleur is zwart zonder schuimkraag. Geur is alcoholisch, oud en zoet. Smaak is zoet, een beetje chocolade met een klein bittertje op het einde.

4.2 Batch 1 thanks to kraddel. Pours out oil black topped with a tan ring of a head. Nose is great big bourbon barrel vanilla roast malts coffee chocolate lots of sweet notes. Taste is more of the nice bourbon barrel vanilla molasses chocolate this has held on very well.

3.7 Sampled at the RBBWG 2017. Thnx for sharing, everyone ! Pours black, no real head. Smell is bourbon, oak. Taste is full, bourbon. Rich dark malts. Mild boozyness. very nice !

4.2 Black color with a light tan head. Sweet coconut, caramel, roast and chocolate aroma. Super sweet chocolate and boozy with light chatted, coconut, and caramel character. Notes: On tap at Bagby Beer Co, Oceanside (Feb ’17)

4.0 Bomber shared by Kraddel at RBBWG 2017. Thin and loose, pale beige, quickly dissipating head over a black beer with cloudy burgundy edges. Aroma of chocolate liqueur, wet oak including vanilla, quite a lot of bourbon, leather, toffee, toasted peanuts, hazelnut, cinnamon. Sweet onset, candied fig and dried banana, softish carbo, deeply nutty and toasted malt body, lovely bittersweetness with a roasted coffeeish ’colour’ in the end, thoroughly (black) chocolatey, highly drinkable, beautiful finish with drying and aromatically vanilla-ish wood tannins, a punch of peppery hops, long-stretched chocolatey malt bittersweetness and, more than anything else, a lot of bourbon, in the form of warming booze - a bit too much so actually. Otherwise a thing of beauty.

4.6 Thank you kraddel! 650 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBWG VI (2017). 2009 Vintage! First batch apparently. Dark brown black with little to no head. nose is thick sweet bourbon goodness, molasses, sugar, candy, chocolate, pralines. Taste is mellow sweet maple syrup, candy, sweet sugar, nuts, thick bourbon, vanilla, sugar, pralines sweet. Really nice, body is slightly thinned out maybe but otherwise this has held up spectacularly, really nice beer.

4.0 Czarne, nieprzejrzyste z drobną, beżową pianą. Przyjemny aromat beczki, mlecznej czekolady, kakao. W smaku pełne, gładziutkie, dominująca beczka, wanilia, czekolada i szlachetny alkohol.

3.5 Pours deep dark with tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, oak, dark fruits and licorice. Flavour is quite the same but the bourbon is a little subdued. Dark chocolate and oak lead the way through an intense boozy finish. Body is quite full with oily texture. Low carbonation. My expectations were higher for this one, still good though.

4.4 Aromat miazga ! Jakby wrzucić do sokowirówki dębową beczkę, whisky, tony mlecznej czekolady, kakao, dodać szczyptę marcepanu i słodkich wiśni. Smak odzwierciedla aromat, każdy łyk dostarcza ogromu wrażeń i przyjemności. Alkohol wręcz wzorowo wpasowany, odczuwalny jako delikatne grzanie bebechów. Bardzo dobre piwo, które leżakowanie w beczce przeistoczyło w genialne !

3.8 Thick and dark. Thin to no head. Aromas and flavors were strong with bourbon being pretty pronounced. Vanilla, roasted malt and some chocolate.

4.1 Bottle, 375ml. Opaque dark brown, minimal head. Fiery aromas of dark fruits, bourbon. Full bodied, soft carbonation. Smooth and creamy, thick and oily. Medium sweet, medium to heavy bitter. Rich, harsh roasted and fruity flavors into a smooth bourbon finish.

3.9 Bottle, 375ml. A dark beer with minimal head. Intense aromas of bournon, dried fruits and dried fruits. Taste is bitter with low sweetness. Robust bodied with moderate carbonation. Rich complex character, full of flavor. Nice bourbon aftertaste.

4.4 Bottle. Black with tall brown top. Strong aroma of blue chese with notes of chocolate and whiskey. Similar in taste with dark fruits smouth at feel with a sweet aftertaste.

4.0 Az alap-verzió is kellemes emlékeket idézett bennem, nem tudtam hát elképzelni, hogy a bourbon-hordóban történő érlelés bármit is ronthatna a dolgon. Természetesen nem is kellett ilyesmivel számolni, ez egyből világossá vált a kitöltését követően, amikor a kólaszínű folyam ontani kezdte magából a legnagyobb örömmel fogadott mogyorós, kókuszos, vaníliás, whisky-s aromákat. A csonthéjasok fás illatai szolgálnak bevezetőül az olvasztott étcsokoládés, rummal ízesített kávés, törökmogyorós jegyek simulékony, közepesen élénk karakterének megnyilatkozásához; egy kifogástalan imperial stout, illetve egy lenyűgöző, ünnepi italnak szánt, s a cél elérésére tökéletesen alkalmas főzet testet öltéséhez.

4.1 Kolor: ciemnobrunatny, klarowny. Piana: średnio obfita, drobnopęcherzykowa, dość trwała. Zapach: sporo aromatów beczki, bourbona, drewna, na drugim planie czekolada, lekka paloność, kakao, trochę ciemnych suszonych owoców, daktyli. Smak: średnia pełnia, gładkie, sporo nut bourbona, drewna, wanilii, dużo również nut palonych słodów, gorzkiej czekolady, pralin, kakao, ciemnych suszonych owoców, fig, daktyli, lekka słodycz, skontrowana wyraźną goryczką o palonym charakterze, alkohol wyczuwalny dopiero prze rozgrzewanie w żołądku. Wysycenie: niskie.

3.9 On tap at Hops & Pie. Black appearance with a tan head. Rich aroma and flavor of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, light oak and light bourbon. Medium to full body with soft carbonation and a sweet finish. Nice.

4.0 Rewelacyjny, zbliżony do Bourbon County aromat. W smaku ogrom beczki, aż Bourbon szczypie w język. Przesiąknięte beczką do bólu. Nieco zbyt wytrawny finisz. Bardzo dobre piwo, ale aromat obiecuje zdecydownie więcej, niż dostajemy w smaku.
