Monumental® IPA has flavours of citrus and pine resin and floral aromas combined with a malty caramel background. This IPA shows a delicious, yet elusive balance between hop bitterness and malt flavours. We believe that Monumental® IPA is a great example of a complex and balanced East Coast-style IPA.
GABF 2012 Bronze, 2015 Silver in the English-style IPA category.

3.3Piney hops, a touch of citrus and a floral grassy aroma. Bitter finish, a little run of the mill perhaps, but a solid IPA
3.3Bottle from Beers of Europe. Copper pour with decent head, piney hops, a little one dimensional but pleasant.
3.535cl Fles van Vonk. Gouden-amber kleur, witte kraag. Aroma van dennen, wat hars, caramel, doet wat oldskool aan. Smaak is bloemig, citrus, beetje dennen, caramel, medium zoet, goede bitterheid. Medium body. Prima, maar niet per sé import-waardig.
2.7Cloudy amber-golden colour, medium head. Light aroma of citrus and orange but overall quite flat. Taste is very bitter.
3.610 week old bottle
A: Clear deep orange gold with active bubbles and 1/2" of tan foam. Good retention and sheet lacing..
S: Pine, orange peel and heavy caramel.
T: Brash piny hops with bitter and tart orange zest and pith quickly joining. Caramel is much lighter than in the nose. Not too sweet.
M: Lively fine carbonation gives a fairly light feel. Powdery finish.
O: Very nice even if not very fresh. Must revisit when possible.
0.5Horrible beer
3.3Bottle. Pours a dark gold colour with a thin white head, light hop aroma with some fruit, the taste is medium bitterness and fruity with a dry bitter finish.
3.3Bottle from the international bar at the 2019 Bedford Beer Festival. Pours an almost alarming neon orange/gold with an uneven white head. Lots of caramel, orange peel, gluey resin. Sweet taste with lots of sticky, gluey malt. It's not the best US IPA I have had. But it's quaffable...
3.0Bottled at SBWF 19. Hazy orange colour, small head. Bready grapefruit aroma. Mid sweet with medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Husky bread, grapefruit. Long bitter finish.
3.4Classic east coast style IPA leaning more on its English brethren for inspiration than west coast, or nu school varieties. Pours a very light amber with a frothy head consisting of bubbles of various sizes. Good lacing and resiliency. Orange marmalade and pine resin. Nice lightly sweet malt backing. Nice hop florals throughout. Long medium bitter finish. Great for pairing with pub grub and substantial enough to cut fatty meats. Drinks light enough to down a few. Very good.
3.5On tap, Starling burger Strasbourg. Dorée bonne mousse. Nez très fruité, éxotique et note litchi. Gout houblonné résineux, fruité confit, note maltée. bon corps. Fin longue amere et intense sur coté fruité et résineux. Pas mal
3.5Pours a mostly clear golden brown on tap with fluffy off-white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of mild caramel malts and light oxidation with floral and piney hop notes. Taste follows, malty and bitter without much hop flavor, old school English style. Decent for what it is.
3.5Bottle into tulip. Hazy amber with decent white head. A few yeast floaties in there. Not much aroma but may also be served a little too cold from the back of the fridge. Reasonably balanced malt and hop profile but leaning to the hop side of things which is to be expected. Biscuit malt that turns into sharper piny hop finish. Ok for an IPA.
2.9Draft. National Harbour, MD. April 2019.
3.1Bottle from a branch of Giant in Sterling, Virginia. Golden in colour, with moderate carbonation. Light, citrus hops and fruit, sweetish malts, a suggestion of pine and dryish finish. Ok.
3.2@GBBF - quite clear amber-bronze beer; aroma of maple and quinces; sticky palate, full-bodied, aftertaste of resin and orange marmalade; sweet - heavy
3.3Decent ipa, but the hop character isnundifferentiated, like it can’t decide the type of ipa it wants to be. But zippy on the palate and drinkable, with the crispness makes it a good partner for a burger.
3.0I enjoyed it but I wouldn't rush to have it again bottle from Great british beer festival 2018
3.4Bottle shared at the hotel - pours gold with a white head. Sweet fruity and malty with some grapefruit and tangerine, sweet malty backing with some caramel sweetness, medium body, reinsous hoppy bitter finish.
2.6Nothing special. A very light tasting IPA. Pours golden with a very thin head.
3.1Tap at 3rd Culture Brewing, Singapore. Poured a hazy medium amber with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, floral woody hop. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a smooth toffee caramel malt, dry floral woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. Smooth and with some toffee notes but no fruit at all and I can’t say I enjoyed the floral bitter finish that went on forever.
3.9Sample at the source. Another solid ipa with a totally different hop profile. A little more juice and almost like a berry/cherry flavor.
2.8Clear amber gold. Citrus and pine, minimal malt. Long, bitter finish. Slightly astringent. First beer from these guys that to me hasn't been good-to-great.
3.3Found on tap on sight. To me it's above mediocre but doesn't fall in the truly memorable category. Had it in mid spring which is probably when it tastes best.
3.6Pours a dark caramel color with nice smell. Taste is smooth with a honey finish . It's very carbonated and decent mid hops
3.7On tap at GABF. Pours a clear orange with medium frothy off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is tropical fruit and floral. Medium body, citrus, pine, light resin finish, very good.
3.912 oz. bottle: floral nose; thick fine foam white head with orange hue; smooth carbonation with pine & floral taste and a very slight citrus background note; saliva forming, slightly resinous bitterness of pine for the finish. I happen to like a piney IPA and with a floral combo, it was a different and enjoyable beer.
3.0Ok IPA. Port city's best beer is there omptimal wit. It is literally on of the best beers I have ever had. But his local IPA is ok. I would stick with lost rhino.
3.4on tap at Crafty's in Northeast Philly - cloudy golden color. Sour hoppy aroma. Sweet hoppy flavor.
