Porterhouse Brainblásta

Porterhouse Brainblásta

Keg and bottle: Filtered

Ingredients: Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt, Chocolate Malt; Galena, Nugget, East Kent Goldings

Careful now! Not quite our secret weapon, but a very discreet one. Stylish, strong, seductive. And it needs to be handled with care.

We mentioned strong? Well, yes, it weighs in at a hefty 6.5% ABV so it’s not exactly a session ale; this is not a pint of mild. But it’s like a V12 engine in a sleek body - it handles well if treated with respect. It thrums with sweet malt and the bewitching scent of Fuggles hops. Aromatherapy for ale heads.

3.3 Bottiglia.
2.6 330ml bottle from Otdokhni in Moscow. Bottling date is just over a year ago. Pours clear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is bread, toffee, dried fruits and some buttery off-notes. Taste is light sweet, toffee, malt, hops.
3.3 Keg at Porterhouse, Temple Bar, 24/09/18. Copper to amber with a decent beige head. Nose is fruit cake, toffee, brown sugar, red lemonade. Taste comprises toffee, dried fruits, faint red berries, biscuit crumbs, caramel, sugars, fruit loaf. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok strong but lacking a touch of depth.
3.7 Bottle at 6.5% ABV. Foggy bronze colour. One finger tall head of beige colour and decent lacing. Aroma: caramel, esters, nuts, toast. Modest intensity. Medium body. Taste: light sweet. Evident caramel, estery, bitter enough. Nuts and hops in ending. Hoppy aftertaste. A quality brew.
3.4 Copper color. Medium-sized, off-white head. Malt, bread, raisins, dried fruits in the aroma. Malty sweetness dominates in taste with herbal hoppy bitterness at the end.
3.2 Botella @La Artesana, Oviedo 01/02/2018 Color ambarino corona de espuma blanca, aromas dulces cereal sabor maltosa dulce denso.
3.0 Süßlicher, hell malziger Beginn. Alkoholische Noten im Mittelteil, feine Karbonisierung, Karamell. Leicht herb, langer Nachhall. Okay. 9/8/9/9//9
3.1 06-09-17 // tasting flight at The porterhouse Central, Dublin. Amber golden, almost clear. Strong malty, some sweetness along with a mild hop bitterness.
2.8 Frisch vom Hahn im Brewpub. Dunkles, klares Amber mit dünner Schaumdecke. Sehr versteckter Alkohol hinter einem etwas unscheinbaren Körper. Gut ausbalancierte Mischung englischer Hopfensorten.
3.1 Bottle. Brown body with white head. Aroma is malty. Taste is malty. Aftertaste is balanced. Fad we will say in Austria. Best after a crisis with your wife on a beach out of the bottle.
3.6 1/2 pint at the brewpub Dublin. Aroma is malt, lots of hops. Appearance is pale amber with a thick Hite foam. Taste is bitter and very light sweet. Oily, dry. Great.
2.8 Tap @ The Porterhouse, Dublin shared with Niilstrong. Clear amber color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, herbal hops, slightly medicinal, a bit sweet. Decent body and carbonation. Hmm not my kind of beer.
3.0 Bottle. Pours bronze-brown with light beige head. Nose of bready malt, raisins, and toffee with some alcohol. Bread crust with raisin and caramel notes along with some subtle chocolate. Some bitterness in the dry finish.
2.6 At Cerveceria Internacional. Lunch with David. With russian salad + bratwurst + chorizo picante with rochefort montadito. In tulip glass. Some caramel but a very boring and flat brew. Served too cold. Had no foam, was it in good shape?
3.1 Overly bitter unfortunately. Not advertised as an ipa on their menu in London, but it is, and lacking malt to back it up.
3.6 Pours a reddish orange color with a light head. Light hop aroma. A nice strong malt forward flavor. Notes: St Patrick’s Day visit ’10
3.4 My Bottom Line: Added sugars and alcohol warmth catch the palate off guard, as leafy hop bitterness and fruity esters eventually succeed in gaining the most interest. Further Personal Perceptions: -A sumptuous head of foam crowns the deep amber shine. -Alcohol should not be perceived at this strength. -Mouthfeel is soft and lean. -This drinks like a mediocre Belgian-style Strong Ale, but without the characterful yeast. Bottle.
3.8 A fruity and sweet aroma, also light medical. The small white creamy head has a long duration, the body is dark red. A quite bitter and medical taste. The body is medium strong, very creamy with a lively carbonation.
2.6 Amber with white head. Red berries and caramel. Dry, toffee and alcoholic finish. Overall: meh meh
4.2 Poured from an 11.2 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is an amber color with a small off-white head. The aroma is made up of toffee, hops and sweet fruit with a strong alcohol smell. The taste is mostly hops and sweet malt. A really good English Strong Ale.
3.1 50 cl. bottle. Low but lasting fluffy light brown head. Clear dark amber body. Acidic to sour fruity lemon aroma and flavor with a good deal of hops bitterness, low carbonation and a long bitter finish.
3.1 Clear mahogany color with beige head. Aroma is malty with dark sugar and caramel notes. Taste is bittersweet and roasty. Body is quite light and fizzy. Not bad but there’s not much going on.
3.9 Rich toffee/mince pie/caramel nose. Big sweet/caramel malts with slight bitter finish. Nicely flavoured, nicely balanced. Tastes stronger than 6.5%!
3.0 Bottle bbe19-04-16. Pours clear dark copper, head dissapears fast. Aroma sweet dried fruits, alcohol when cold. Taste sweet caramel with spicy and piney bitterness. Should be served quite warm otherwise the sweetness does not balance the hops and alcohol.
3.4 Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, raisins and toffee. Taste is an almost chewy mouthfeel with rich sweet malts and caramel. A moderate bitterness rounds out the palette nicely. Very slight flatness on finish. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.
3.6 Plums, sweet caramel. Taste is intensely sweetish-fruity, with a heavy bitter touch, feels boozy. Only 6.5ABV? incredible. A real taste explosion. Crazy stuff, but maybe someone appreciates it.
3.0 bottle from the fridge at pivo plzen. dark amber with a modest head; aroma of toffee, cake dough and menthol; light zesty citrus; full mouthfeel, modest bitterness; decent drinkability
3.2 Keg in the Porterhouse Temple Bar, Dublin. Amber with a thin off white head. Not too much aroma. The taste is mild spice and bitter citrus with toasty malt undertones. Quote tasty.
3.2 1/18/2008 8:34:13 AM On tap at Porterhouse, London. Smokey nose. Quite dry. Bitter. Some caramel notes. Smooth. A tasty ale overall.
3.6 @IPABar Neukoelln. VERY persistent froth, Smells like a brewery, freshly milled malt, hay, Fresh, malty.
