Post Road Pumpkin Ale

Post Road Pumpkin Ale

Bottle; Filtered.

Post Road Pumpkin Ale is a revival of a beer brewed by the early American colonists. Pumpkins were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious and they blended nicely with barley malt. Hundreds of pumpkins are blended into each batch of Post Road Pumpkin Ale, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center and crisp finish. Post Road Pumpkin Ale is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

3.5 Sampled @ BKL 2018. A almost clear amber beer with a mid-sized good lasting off-white head. Aroma of pumpkin spices, cinnamon, red malt. Taste of sweet red malt, cinnamon, pumpkin spices.
3.1 Tap. Hazy golden-amber color with white head. Aroma is pumpkin grapefruit, biscuity malts, nice spice. Taste is the same. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Not bad!
3.0 Bottle. Orange peel and pumpkin spice nose. Cloudy orange, offwhite lace. Overly spicy on the palate, dry, light sticky, sugary finish.
3.2 400ml draught. Clear dark brown with slightly off white head. Aroma is mixed spices, caramel and bread. Taste is caramel, brown bread, mixed pumpkin spice and some notes of actual light roasted pumpkin. Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation and light malty spicy aftertaste.
3.4 The aroma is fine, but then comes the taste.. or generally, lack of it. I prefer nice cinnamonny and nutmeggy pumpkin ales that make you long for winter and nice comfy nights together. This lacks this character mostly. Drinks like an ordinairy beer.
1.1 This has a finish that I initially identified as "shaving cream" but seems to be more "cedar" now that I think about it. Either way, it is... odd.
2.0 Faint aroma. light amber color. Very watery beer! Like a malty coors light. Not much flavor at all, besides some malt. Super disappointing
2.5 Bottle, UK import, source not recorded. Backlog entry. Entering my historic scores for US beers whilst visiting New York. No tasting notes kept, just rating.
3.0 Decent fall seasonal. Aromas and flavors of pumpkin, spice and earth. Not too sweet with biscuit finish. Copper color with a light body.
3.1 Bottle. Amber with of white head. Aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg. Medium body, medium sweetness, cinnamon and other pumpkin spices
2.9 Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Pours a clear copper witih a small white head. Light cinnamon and caramel nose. Simple and easy drinking with some lingering cinnamon and clove on the finish. Simple pumpkin beer.
2.8 Pours a clear amber with a thin layer of effervescent head. Aroma is pumpkin spices with apple juice notes. Flavor carries more of the spiced apple cider with a heavy level of carbonation that seems to take away from the flavor.
3.0 Tried the original before the new BB label. Poured a light yellowish orange with fizzy head. Strong aroma of pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon. Light and bubbly on the palate. Pumpkin spice is obviously the dominate flavor. Compliments a thanksgiving dinner very well.
2.6 Bottle. Amber Gold in colour. Spices (cinnamon & nutmeg) dominate. Sweet malt and light hops. Dry finish. Unpleasant vegetal bitterness in the aftertaste. Not for me. (2008)
3.4 Clear orange with no head. Sharp spicy aroma of allspice and a hint of vegetation. Rich and malty with a vegetal undertone. Light bodied. Very mellow and well blended.
3.6 Pours clear amber, ring of head. Aroma is pie spices. Texture is sort of foamy/lively/creamy. Roasty flavors.
3.0 December 2016 - Bottle share at One Canada Square. Thanks Fergus! As ’Post Road Pumpkin Ale’. Amber orange, translucent, foamy tan head, dotted lacing. Aroma is pumpkin spice, nutmeg, clove, ginger, toffee and fudge. A bit like one of those pumpkin lattes which are so popular nowadays. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is papery, nutmeg, woody peppery finish with some clove, quite dry. OK. (3.0)
3.2 October 25th, 2014 - Under the heavy red light of the bar, this beer is more a candy apple red, but I suspect given the style it’s more orange in nature. But whether or not it’s one shade or another on the spectrum, the head is clearly visible, with a nice mottled, webby texture, and enough grip to cling to the glass well after a sip. The aroma is hard to get in the bar thanks to aroma pollutants, but the flavor is clear and clean. It’s mostly dry, more like a cracker, with a very faint pumpkin touch, playing in the background instead of shouting in the foreground.
3.2 Best by 02/17. Pours pretty golden amber, clear, orange tinged white head. Aroma is lots of cinnamon, pumpkin spice, nutmeg. Very nicely pumpkin spiced. More than I expected. Flavor is sort of generic ale, cinnamon undertones, nutmeg, earthy, some pumpkin, but I’d call it mostly cinnamon and nutmeg. Kinda bitter finish for a pumpkin beer. Fine. It’s a pumpkin-spiced beer. Not particularly roasty or malty. Not too sweet. Not the best pumpkin beer I’ve ever had but I would drink it again.
1.7 Bottled (33 cl). Color : hazy dark orange ale with very thin white head. Nose : lightly cinnamon, toffee, cola. Aromas : honey, roasted malts. Medium body, low carbonation.
3.5 Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Fergus. Pours clear copper-gold with a creamy, white head. Pleasant cinnamon in the nose, dried pumpkin, a little leafy hop, toasted bread. Light sweet flavour with nips of gingerbread, crackers, a little orange peel. Light bodied with average carbonation. Decent balance in the finish, with more autumnal spices, more dry pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg, ginger. Enjoyable pumpkin beer.
3.4 Bottle shared on Level 42 12/12/2016. From Beer hawk. A dark orange, clear pour with a fine off white head. Aroma is tangy Christmas spices, woody nutmeg, pumpkin seed. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty malts, roasted pumpkin, nutmeg. Nicely balanced spices. Palate is si sweet. Rounded, moderate carbonation. Decent shv.
2.7 Bottle thanks to Fergy at level 42. It pours clear orange - amber with a medium beige head. The aroma is sweet, sickly, spicy, nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin and icing sugar. The taste is dry, sticky, sweet, earthy, autumnal spice, leaves, chewy, some alcohol and root veg with a drying finish. Medium body and average carabontion. Earthy, chewy and spice. Not great.
2.0 Off white beige head soon left a skim on a dark amber, lightly effervescent body. Sweet malty aroma. Thin, minimal carbonation. Very sweet & sickly flavours of malt, dark sugar, dark fruit but I’m not picking up any pumpkin. Tastes like sweet stewed tea.
