Postel Dobbel

Postel Dobbel

Previously brewed at: Brouwerij Affligem / De Smedt (Heineken)

4.7 From belgiuminabox. In Grimbergen glass. Playing Avernum 3. All typical notes of a dubbel perfectly implemented here. A surprise coming from affligem. Why dont they bring it here?
3.3 Fles 33cl thuis. Beetje roasted, beetje chocola. Wat romig, zoetig. (5-2014).
2.3 Black. Mountainous, soapy head with a tan colour. Aroma is sweet malt and brown sugar. Taste is bread, molasses, and alcohol.
3.8 330ml bottle pours cola red-brown with white bubbly head. Aromas of dark fruit, brown sugar and liqueur. Tastes of dark cherry, molasses, liquorice, caramel malt, bready yeast, spices, alcohol and herbal characters. High carbonation and decent body easily balance the 7% alc vol. Easy drinking dark sweet and spicy dubbel to bring me into the festive season.
3.5 330ml bottle BB 02 Sep 2018. Deep clear ruby red with generous tan head. Aromas of raisins, dates, toffee, cherries, some alcohol. Taste has toffee sweetness, lots of dark fruits - cherries, raisins, plums, a little chocolate, herbal hop character. Medium bodied, nice prickly carbonation to balance some of the sweetness. Pretty good, but just a little too cloying and lacking complexity to be truly great.
3.5 330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 27-10-18 Pours a good looking burgundy sort of body with a big dense beige head. Aromas of dark (Candi) sugars dominate - sort of earthy, molasses, dates, prunes, slightly vinous, nutty, almost chocolate-like. Body a bit thinner than expected, creamy sort of carbonation, slight booziness sneaks through. Flavours are sort of a savoury affair - theres dark sugars yet without the sweetness, paving way for earthy, nutty, dried & dark vinous fruits. Slight bitterness, slight dryness to finish. Reasonable dubbel - needs a bit more body.
3.4 Aroma sweet, gingerbread, a little red currant, butterscotch. Taste sweet, rather unspectacular but some nice dark fruits, butterscotch, alcoholic, too sweet though, too much butterscotch. MF rather crude, maybe due to overcarbonation or alcohol.
3.4 F: huge, tanned, long lasting. C: dark, opaque. A: malty, caramel, dark fruits, hint of brown sugar, yeasty. T: malty, fruity, dark cherries, brown sugar, yeasty, molasses, medium to full body, medium carbonation, better than expected, 33cl bottle from Prik & Tik ABC Drinks in Leuven.
2.7 Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is malt, caramel, dried fruits, strong raisins, candy sugar, with a touch of iron. Flavour is sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Fairly typical Dubbel, could be a bit fuller. Hardly exciting.
3.1 33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Clear dark red/brown with an off-white head. Malty caramel aroma. Yeasty sweet taste. Typical enjoyable Belgian dubbel.
3.6 Many thanks for this beer to Eric De Geyter. Piwo ma ladna trwala kremowa pianke, kolor orzechowy, ciemno herbaciany. W smaku lekko karmelowo, toffi, trufle, slodowe delikatne.
3.2 33cl bottle shared. Poured a clear dark copper colour with a thin off white head. The aroma is sweet malt, yeast, woody hop bitter, some light fruit. The flavour is moderate to light sweet with a smooth rich sweet woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
3.7 Aroma: Medium aroma of malts, caramel, bread, Belgian yeast, berries, red fruit and spices. Appearance: Turbid/opaque red/dark brown beer with a slight/medium off-white/beige head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, berries and red fruit; ends slightly dry with bread and spices. Overall: This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. A very strange Dubbel thanks to the loads of berries and red fruit, but this makes it really enjoyable.
3.3 Bottle@home. Red brown. Clear two finger foam. Toffee cookie. Dry slight malty sweetness. Fine and fresh. Like it.
3.2 33cl bottle. Pours clear dark reddish brown colour with a huge most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of red fruits, some wood, caramel. Taste of red fruits, dark malt, spicy hops, caramel, sugar.
3.5 Chocolade bruine kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt zoetig, mout. Smaakt zoetig, herfstfruit.
3.2 Picked up in Bruges by my friend Patriot Maintenence. Pours a nice cola colored brown. Aromas of malts, fruit, and a touch of spice. Has flavors of chocolate, caramel, and a touch of wood. Kinda thin in the finish
2.7 Big airy bubbles. Sweet aroma. Light brown complexion. Tastes like a hybrid between Abbey double and a watery soda. Slightly on the sweet licorice side. It stands on the threshold of worth-to-drink beers. Not bad considering that it’s the cheapest Abbey double on the market to my knowledge.
3.5 Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer is clear ruby red to dark brown colored and has a nice stable cream colored foam, with livingly CO2. The aroma is spicy and in the background malts, caramel, dark fruits and some hops. The taste is spicy and medium sweet with are nicely balanced, with tones from the aroma. The finish is warming and light bitter.
3.4 Barwa ciemno rubinowa, klarowna. Wysycenie wysokie.
3.3 Copper-coloured beer with light beige head. Aroma caramel and Belgian yeast. Taste is sweet, fruity with a fine finish.
3.4 Roodbruin bier met veel schuim. Bier kwam spontaan de fles uit. Smaak is licht bitter fruitig, kersen en licht zoetzuur, caramel. Gewoon goed dus.
2.9 9/VIII/15 - 33cl bottle @ my parent’s place - BB: 17/XII/16 (2015-1045) Thanks to my parents for the beer! Clear reddish brown beer, big fizzy beige thick head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, banana, pretty sugary, very metallic, banana peel. MF: lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: sweet sugary start, metallic, banana. Aftertaste: more metallic, sugary, caramel, soft bitterness, pretty boring.

3.4 Color ambar oscuro, chocolate. Espuma desaparece al instante. Agradable olor a galleta. En boca, bastante cuerpo, y sabor a caramelo, uva. Final contundente y alcoholico.
3.6 Pours dark brown, ok white head. Smell is mildly sweet, not intense. Taste is on the bitter side. Very high carbo. Ok mouthfeel. Ending is complex, some spices. Some chocolate, some earth and a bit of caramel. Pretty soli,
