4.3 0.5l bottle. Murky golden body with an enormous white head. Aroma and taste are dominated by the brett character (wether clussenii is thechnically a brett or not). Lots of wite pepper, lemon zest and lemon juice to it as well as some barnyard character and a hint of grapefruit. I don't find the salt that prominent, so I guess there wasn't a lot added. Medium bodied with a very lively carbonation that makes the beer super refreshing. A very nice saison.
4.1 Smell is a ton of bright and fruity brett with a light barnyard funk. Lots of mouth coating brett, very dry finish. Very easy to drink and complex aftertaste, a bright funky masterpiece. I can't stop sipping this one.
4.2 Bottle from Small Batch 8-22-15
3.0 Pours a big, white, foamy head. Murky looking cause it’s dull and muddy amber colored. Nose is a blend of tart Brett and fruity saison yeast, but neither overpowering. Orange, floral and fruit punch notes. Taste is more fruity saison yeast and little if any Brett and doesn’t taste as good with light phenolics that aren’t detected in the nose. Thought it would be wilder.
3.7 pours cloudy yellow into tulip. some funk sour and citrus. pretty well done effort.
3.9 500mL bottle, pours an opaque golden orange with a huge foamy white head. Aroma is hugely fragrant on the funk, with leather, light salt, floral and citrus hops. Flavour follows accordingly, with huge funk, citrus hops, leather and some floral notes. Lovely funk character, with a bone dry, bitter finish. Excellent.
3.9 A 16.9 fl oz (500ml) bottle with a Julian bottled on date of 17315, meaning it was bottled on 22nd June 2015. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. It was a lightly hazy golden straw colour with an almost two finger white head that had decent retention but left only sparse lacing. Aromas of tropical peach, apricot, pineapple, wood, citrusy orange, hints of lemon peel and the right amount of funk. Tastes of semi-sweet orange, lemon, dried mango, dried apricot, honey, dates and prunes with light oak and funk. Not getting much of the sea salt that was added. Dry-ish, medium bodied with high carbonation. Overall nice and enjoyable with it not being overly sweet and having funkiness that is not overpowering. The high carbonation assists it in being refreshing on a hot day.
4.1 Bottle from Craft Beer Cellar Belmont. Pours golden with a white head. Lots of citrus, funk, and salt on the nose and tongue. Also has some nice tart notes that play well with the saison base. Finished very dry and clean. Nice
3.8 Draft. Hazy gold in colour with strong carbonation. Strong aromas of pink grapefruit juice, earthy Brett and Rocket candies. Strong herbal, mango, grapefruit and sour candy flavor, with a white pepper bitterness. Dry and earthy, but with some body as well (perhaps from the salt). Very complex.
3.7 500 mL bottle shared by ebone1988. The pour is a dark gold brownish thing happening with a thick and solid white head that falls to a thin head with a slightly soapy lace. The aroma is interesting. There is a nice yeastiness to it up front with a hint of malt and a lack of clove, that I really like. The flavor is definitely strong and funky. The yeast calms down a little bit and the funk really carries through. I definitely like the balance, but with it was a little tarter. The mouth feel is pretty good. It's strong medium with that heavy carbonation and a smooth and yeasty malt finish. It's not too bad. 7 4 7 4 15
4.0 Bottle from Discount Drinks. Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is hoppy, funky brett, floral, slight salt, mostly hoppy funky goodness. Appearance is darker golden, white head, pretty hazy. Taste is hoppy, pine and citrus, tons of funk, brett forward, slightly tart, some salt, slightly spiced on the end. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light crisp carbonation, super funky citrus hoppy aftertaste. Overall, it's as funky as advertised, and very nice.
3.9 Cloudy dark yellow to orange color with minimal sized white head. Brett yeast, sour, lots of tropical fruit, citrus, pretty hoppy. Taste is sour and sweet with nicely done bitter finish. Medium to full body, small lovely burning bubbles. Alcohol hidden well.
3.6 Bottle from Beergium, cellared for about a year. Slightly hazy yellow with big head on top. Aroma has lots of zesty lemon and grapefruit, taste is similar at first. After a while yeast comes through a lot with dry wood and slight funk. Lightly salty finish.
3.7 Piwo ma złotą barwę, początkowo wlewa się klarowne, ale od mniej więcej połowy butelki, staje się bardzo mętne - drobinki widoczne w szkle.. Piana obfita, biała i trwała. Aromat intensywny, zdominowany brettanomyces w postaci słodkich owoców: ananas, brzoskwinie, w tle lekkie nuty stajenne.
3.6 Bottle. Clear appearance from the top, murky at the bottom. Orange color, white bubbles. Aroma is citrus, lemongrass, barn notes. Bit of funk. Flavor has quite a bit of funk, dry bitter finish. Some fruity notes. Alcohol is fairly hidden with a bit of warmth on the finish.
3.6 Crisp, slightly hazy golden coloured body with a dense, thick, five centimetre tall pure white head that fades fairly quickly to a single centimetre. Aroma of tart brett, crisp wheat and light malt and a bit of lemons and salt with a rich funk and definite yeastie kick - very nice. Medium-bodied; Deep rich malt flavours with a pungent kick of astringent medicine and funk, but the alcohol and dryness really comes throughout. Aftertaste is almost all pure brett, funk and grass - pungent with a good deal of alcohol, grain and herbs - very bitter and long-lasting. Overall, a much stronger and fuller flavoured beer than is typically made by the brewery. That said, it had it’s pungency which I didn’t typically like as much, but the complexity is definitely there, but the flavours aren’t the best in their large doses - however, I’m sure this is highly rated due just the label on the front of the bottle. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Craft & Growler in Dallas, Texas on 01-September-2015 for US$9,79 sampled at home in Washington on 23-February-2017.
4.0 Ripe citrus velvet funk with tropical IPA hops but in check, they compliment eachother, grainy light sweetness, medicinal, light biterness
4.1 Amazing nose full of citrus, pineapple, and faint lemon. Cascade and backing Citra. The combo reminds me a bit of a more-citrusy Amarillo.
3.7 Bottle shared with friends. Murky yellow with pure white head. Funky, fruity with earthy stable. Malt, fructose, slightly salty. A bretta to be sure.
3.9 Bottle from Beergium. Hazy orange color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, brett, spices, tropical fruits, grass, earthy notes and a bit of salt. Bitter finish with citrus, brett, spices, tropical fruits, a bit of salt and toast. Exquisite saison.
3.9 Draft Third of a Pint at Route CBC Festival at Craft Beer Co, Clapham, London in Oct 2015 - Hazy Yellowy Gold in colour. Large white head. Fruity; lemon and grapefruit. Sour, funky, brett, earthy and herbal. Citrusy hops. Great Saison! (2015-10-02)
3.9 500mL bottle from Camperdown cellars. Bright hazy straw body, holds a good sized dense white head. Deliciously funky hoppy aroma! Unripe pineapple, mango, hard cheese, natural yoghurt, pine, freshly clipped grass, hay. Lively creamy carbonation on the palate, dry well attenuated, touch of acidity is very refreshing. Body reveals lovely tropical fruity sort of notes - mango, melon, papaya & paw paw, passionfruit, with funky notes of old cheese & yoghurt. Moderate bitterness, lingering dry finish. This is really bloody good!
3.3 Bottle at WTF 4. Pours a cloudy gold with medium white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is lemon zest, funk, salt, mineral. Medium body, strong brett, funk, oak, mineral, light tartness, good.
4.0 Bottle form LA. Love, love, love mineral notes in flavour. Bretts make a great job between hops. Fresh, drinkable and fantastic. Thanks.
4.0 Aroma: Bright citrus fruit, lemon rind along with soft pale fruit, apricot, peach, plum & slight malt sweetness. Taste: Pale fruit is strong in the flavour. White grapes, cantaloup & a nice tart finish. Overall: Excellent fruity farmhouse ale with no hint of alcohol. Prairie do it again.
4.5 Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a tall, pillowy white head that retracts quickly. Brew has a very high amount of carbonation and maintains a great fizzy presence through the entire drink. Aroma is truly beautiful. Lots and lots of funk with a lot of citrus - orange, light lemon, light lime and finishes with some light grassy notes. Flavor is light but complex. Early citrus hoppiness combos with a light grassy presence with just enough malt to help mellow it out. The funk comes in late in the tasting and magnificently melds with the other flavors present. Body is to be expected - light, fizzy, slightly puckering. Overall a fabulous, very well crafted beer.
3.9 #9 at bastardas blindtasting - 02.12.2016 - bottle from Joschi - Tasting notes: Brett, more lacto, wood?, Joghurt, peach, Almut:"Holz&Joghurt!"
4.0 Poured from the bottle a hazy yellow color with a fluffy white head. Fruity aroma, with a slight funk and yeast breadiness. Some lemon zest as well. Taste is slightly tart lemon.
