Prairie / Evil Twin Bible Belt - Barrel Aged

Prairie / Evil Twin Bible Belt - Barrel Aged

Prairie Artisan Ales and Evil Twin Brewing have joined forces again on a variation of their first collaboration.

The new beer is Barrel-Aged Bible Belt, a 12 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with cacao nibs, chili peppers, coffee and vanilla beans before being aged in Heaven Hill whiskey barrels for between seven and nine months. As the name suggests, the base beer is Bible Belt, a 13 percent imperial stout first released in 2014 that combines Evil Twin’s Even More Jesus imperial stout (12 percent ABV) and the same spices and other adjuncts that are used in Prairie’s Bomb! imperial stout (13 percent ABV.)

4.1 35,5 cl bottle @ olio. Thanks! Aroma is sweet with calvados and coffee. Also licorice, liquor and sweet malt. Flavour has calvados, sweet malt, syrupy tones, licorice and bourbon tones. Finishes with some coffee tones and warming alcohol. Quite a lot on the sweet side but nice anyway.

3.8 Bottle 33cl. Black with a minimal light brown head. Aroma of wooden barrels and dried fruit, some chocolate. Sweet with a warm chocolate and barrels end. Shared on net with CH-303, 31.12.18.
4.3 Black with a brown head - Dark malt aroma with some wood and bourbon - Good dark malt body, chocolate with wood and bourbon with some fruity tones - The dark malt with fruity tones, chocolate , wood and bourbon goes into the finish - This was real good
4.4 12oz bottle. Pours nearly pitch black in color and capped by a small tan head of foam that fades away quickly and rejoins the body below. The aroma is amazing shows notes of rich, dark chocolate, toasted vanilla, smoothly roasted coffee, earthy chili pepper spice, and dark roasted malts at the base with some smooth whiskey soaked oak on the back end. The flavor follows suit and is just as good as the nose lets on with notes of rich dark chocolate, smooth roasted coffee, and toasted vanilla right up front followed by some whiskey soaked oak and chili pepper spices on the back end. Just a touch of boozy warmth from the alcohol and some heat from the chilies. Just a really complex and deep flavor profile with the whiskey barrel tying everything together perfectly and providing a nice balance and the right amount of spice. Full bodied and smooth with soft carbonation that leads to a dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and whiskey oak finish with some lingering chili pepper spice long after each sip. Really an amazing beer all around and one I hope they do again.
3.7 Bottle @ Home. Black in color with a tan head. Don't necessarily get an overwhelming barrel character here, but that's fine as I liked the base beer itself a decent bit. Plenty of coffee, roasted malt, and dark chocolate. There's a mild savory note to the finish...perhaps soy sauce? Get some sweet raisin and grape in there, too. Undertones of oak, whiskey, and spice. Interesting.
3.9 Pours an opaque brownish black from the bottle with little to no head or lace. Aroma of huge chocolate and vanilla barrel notes, a touch of soy oxidation, and some light cinnamon and chili pepper spice behind. Taste is more on the spice, less on the oxidation, but still decent barrel. Held up pretty well considering, solid barrel aged Mexican chocolate beer.
4.0 Pours opaque coffee, no head. Aroma yields pepper, woody and roast malt notes. Flavor delivers bourbon, molasses, roast malt, chocolate and subtle pepper tones. Texture yields viscous body and perky fizz. Unbuvkle the bible belt!
4.4 Doft: Toffee, vanilj, kola, kaffe, whiskey/ek, lite chili/grön paprika, Smak: kaffe, grön paprika, marsipan, whiskey, ek, super
5.0 This drink is simply amazing. The complexity is perfectly balanced and everything about it just works. chocolate, coffee, black, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, medium sweetness, full body, thick feel, full body, flat,
4.5 Draught at Biercab Pitch black. No head. Chocolate, coffee, figs, some tar in the aroma. Sweet and milky flavour. Roasted with dark chocolate and cola coffee along with sweet, dried fruits. Medium to high bitterness.
4.5 A 12 fl. oz. bottle with a Julian bottled on date of 36416 (I think, as it was slightly unclear), meaning that it was bottled on 29th December 2016. Poured into a snifter glass. It poured black in colour with pretty much no head and no lacing. Aromas of vanilla, whisky, oak, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, roasted coffee and light spices. Tastes lightly sweet, whisky, oak, vanilla, caramel, roasted malts, chocolate, roasty coffee, light bitterness. Creamy, smooth, velvety, full bodied with low carbonation. Overall, excellent, just so smooth to drink with wonderful notes of whisky and oak shining through. You don’t feel the 13% ABV at all, as you sip it.
4.3 Fra flaske. Sort med beige skum. Aroma af kaffe, chili, bourbon, mørk chokolade, vanilje, kokus. Fuld krop, blød i munden. Smager af kaffe, vaniljesukker, chokolade, diskret chili. Lang og sød finish.
4.5 0,35l bottle. Pours jet-black with a very small light brown head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, caramel, chocolate, roast, coffee, Taste is sweet, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate (the 86% cocoa kind) is massive in the taste of this. Also getting coffee. Very soft carbonation, full bodied.
🖤..BEERGIUM GOODNESS✨✌️
4.4 Mistrzowski risik w mistrzowskiej beczce po whisky - klasyka stylu, pychota
4.4 355 ml bottle @ Pub Kultainen Apina. Pours pitch black color with a small beige head. Aroma is very appealing with vanilla and roasted chocolaty malts, some whiskey notes, cocoa, subtle spice notes. Vanilla and spices up front on the flavor, sweet brown sugar and caramel follow, roasted malts and hints of coffee giving nice bitterness at first, pleasant chocolaty smoothness on the finish. The alcohol and tingling wooden notes peak through a bit but co-exist with the sweetness perfectly. The subtle chili notes on the aftertaste fit here perfectly. Complex and layered slow sipper with a heavy impact. Superb. 5428
3.9 Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, chili peppers, bourbon, raisins. Taste of chocolate, brown sugar. Quite thin, very fast disappearing head, mild lactic infection?
3.9 19/20 it's sensational. really smooth, big taste, big flavours but well balanced. the coffee, vanill, chiili and the whisky are all very distinctive but work great together.
4.8 Vanilla, coconut, wood, whiskey, light alcohol, chocolate, cocoa nibs. Perfection. Pitch black color with minimal sized creamy dark brown head. Sweet chocolate, biscuity, bitter cocoa, roasted malt, extremely smooth, extremely balanced, vanilla, some wood. Full, thick body with soft to flat carbonation, silky, smooth, bit oily. Can't get enough words to describe it. Where is alcohol at 13%?! What is happening here? Unbelievable! //bottle from Beergium
3.5 Aroma: cocoa, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, bourbon notes very fine balanced, roasted notes. Taste: sweet and then astrigent, dry, roasted finish. Oily. Average head, almost no carbonation. Alc. only a little bit detectable, when beer is warmer.
Tap & Beer Temple, Amsterdam VI 2018.
4.2 0,2 litre taster at Håndverksøl Festival. Black wit little head. Malts, Chocolate, coffe, oakbarrel Nice
4.0 On tap at Cafe Sara, march 14th 2017. Black body with a tiny beige head. Aroma is roasted with vanilla, cocoa, bourbon. Taste is rich and malty with light burned coffee, vanilla, oak, alcohol notes. Very complex in taste, bitter chocolate and roast in finish, full bodied mouthfeel. Light chili burn. A very nice stout!
4.6 Pitch black beer with minimal dark cinnamon coloured head which soon disappeared. Aroma has sweet vanilla, huge dark chocolate tone, whisky, light booze, dark roasted malts, barrel notes too. Taste is sweet with vanilla, dark chocolate, then Bourbon and wooden tones and dark roasted ending to make it not too sweet. Very oily texture with lowish carbonation. Yes, amazing.
