1.3Got this from a midwest trading partner. Popped the top and immediately started to erupt. Nose was acetone and band aids. Flavor matched the nose. Drain poured by all.
2.0Bottle thanks to Darrel. Pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is bandaid medicine cabinet roast and smoke. Taste is as the nose with lots of bandaid medicine cabinet roast malts smoke. This thing popped like mad blowing all over the place. Infected???
3.9Pour is black with tons of cardboard colored head with tons of lacing. Nose is sweet and hoppy with light notes of dark malt and a touch of farmy yeast. Taste is interesting, body is very light an airy with softer carbonation. Taste has less bright hops, darker malts and lightly roasted up front. A hint sweet and a touch of farmhouse yeast, citrus hops and a touch herbal through a lightly bitter finish.
3.7Black pour. Giant tan head. Tons of lacing. Aroma of funky Brett. Taste is funky with some notes of chocolate. A little rubbery note.
2.9Like the hop profile but getting smokey malt here with a little bit of funky yeast. The smoke is killing the otherwise really nice hop profile. Shared by atlaggie.
3.7Ridiculously deep and dark brown coloured body with a nice, perfectly microfoamed, three centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of brett, sour milk, grapes, wax, bread, yeast, hay, grass and a bit of light hops - not much though. Medium-bodied; Assertive spicey yeast character at first with a lot of breadiness, some sour notes, hints of grapes and and astringent bitterness at first with a great deal of floral hops, hay and grass kicking in on the finish. Aftertaste shows some depth with the yeast and bread flavours hitting the hardest and a little nuttiness and a definite earthiness and dry flavour finishing it all off. Overall, an interesting and complex beer, but nothing too great in any of the dimensions for it to be a great beer nor one worth searching out for to spend a lot of money. I get hype on some beers and breweries, but I just let a specific beer (without a label) stand up on its own, and this one is average at best, period. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Small Batch Liquors in Denver, Colorado on 07-June-2014 for US$7.99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-July-2014.
3.4500 ml (I think ?) bottle from Les Vignerons. Pitch black, no light passing through, with a huge, creamy and fluffy, forever lasting light beige head. Brett and flowers on the nose, relatively hoppy, some light dark fruits, caramel, lots of fruit esters and spices. Quite fruity overall. Completely different in the mouth: much more malty than hoppy, little sourness/acidic edge, not too much roasted malts/chocolate/coffee presence as I was expecting. Mild bitterness, candy sugar, spices and berries in the aftertaste. Average to lively carbonation, medium to full body, slightly creamy texture. Looks and smells great, but the flavour is just not blended and harmonious enough, imho. Still nice.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin. Murky dark brown beer, big fluffy pale cream colour head. Airy light palate. Big brett. Touches of fruit and light malts but this is a brett bomb! Light finish.
3.2Interesting farmhouse ale with a dark smallish head and a little lace. Flavors are an odd blend of cocoa, funk, sour, malt, spice. Aroma is Similar.
3.4Bottle, shared with BBGTC feat. Yngwie and Meilby. Clear dark brown body, large foamy off-white head. Nose is bretty stable tones with loads of hay and straw, citrus, mild red berries and hints of horse blanket. Taste is bitter herbs, citric peel, hay, straw and hints of grass, horsey barnyard tones, cold coffee and dark berries. Medium body and carbonation. Pretty nice farmhouse brew, only not quite my style of beer (which of course draws the score down a bit).
3.7Bottle split at Bruce’s Pad, from an IP, 12/06/14.
Extremely dark mahogany brown with a good sized tan covering that retains
well.
Nose is dark fruit rinds, bretty pangs, funk’o’clock, spice, root liqourice, dark toffee rinse.
Taste comprises dark berry fruit, liqourice, brett, light roast, spice, Ribena berries, funky rinse.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Solid enough stuff.
3.8Corked bottle: Pours a deep brown with amber highlights, lasting head. Lovely combo of barnyard wildness and toasty dark ale. Wonderfully complex yet still restrained. The 2nd best brew I have from Prairie.
3.116.06.2014, 0,75l bottle @ BBGTC tasting:
Big fizzy shortlasting head. Aroma is kind of funky, mild brett, overripe crowberries, barnyard, dark malts, mold, sour coffee, tea, spices, hints of licorice. Taste is slightly dry, heather, mild brett, hay, paper, minerals, sour coffee, spices. Medium bitterness, slightly harsh mouthfeel. Fair enough.
3.7Bottle 750ml @ ClubGonzo
Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma has notes of malt, chocolate, funky, mango and pineapple. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long slightly roasty, berry and funky finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.6Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours opaque dark brown with a thick light tan head. The nose is earthy, toasty, ash, dark fruits, jammy berry, light barnyard and candy. The taste is toasty, earthy, barnyard, jammy fruits, roasted malt, cocoa, charred wood, ash, sherbet, citrus peel and some acidity. Full body and high carbonation. Pretty punchy stuff. I am not sure the balance is quite there, but I enjoyed it anyway.
2.4Black pour with a big tan head. Big time funky aromas with notes of spice and plenty of hops. Flavor is way too hoppy and over the top funky. There are some subtle clove and cinnamon notes that are trying desperately to come out but are just crushed by everything else going on. Finishes bone dry. This brew was a mess, I can’t decide what they were trying to do here. Maybe it cellars well but as is, no thank you.
1.8Bottle.
A- Funky, dank, musty, sweet.
A- Black color, dark liquid, huge tan frothy head.
T- Funky, slightly malty, slightly sweet, slightly sour.
P- Medium body, average texture, high carbonation, astringent finish.
O- With a name like Funky Galaxy, I should have known this was gonna be funky. The aroma reminded me of my grandma’s basement. As it warmed, some chocolate tones seemed to appear, but this was still not was I was hoping for. Just not my thing.
4.5As a so-called "Galaxy hopped black farmhouse ale," Funky Galaxy is probably the most unusual beer I’ve had in a long-ass time. Pouring midnight black, this Farmhouse Ale looks more like an Imperial Stout. The head is just ridiculous - velvety, frothy, retentive, and brown. The smell proves that this beer is aptly named. There’s a whole lot of dank yeast funk that makes you think of basement or barnyard smells. It finds its way onto the tongue, too. Funky Galaxy has a strong yeast taste but it’s also countered by the fresh hops and rich malts. The hop bitterness is concealed but you can still pick up their subtle fruit flavors. The chocolatey notes from the malt help to mellow out the funk. For all of the lively carbonation and huge flavors, this Farmhouse Ale has a silky, refreshing mouthfeel. This one’s an oddball, no doubt about that. Still, Funky Galaxy offers a whole lot of yeasty goodness and a fun range of flavors to explore.
3.9My Bottom Line:
Raisins and earthy roasted notes tag along citrus and tropical fruit in this complex, fluffy brew.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the cloudy dark brown.
-There is so much going on in this one it’s almost hard to find a dominating character and hang on to it.
-Bitterness is mild, leaving room for fruitiness and peppery spiciness.
-Drinkability is very high.
-Grape juice flavors are also discovered.

1.81/V/14 - 50cl bottle @ ThirstyBird’s place - BB: n/a (2014-459) Thanks to ThirstyBird for sharing the bottle!
Bit cloudy very dark beer, big aery to creamy beige head, pretty stable, very adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: artificial brett all the way, something nasty, reminds me of latrines, damn dirty! MF: over carbonated, medium body. Taste: this is just nasty, I taste clams, bit salty, rotting stuff, artificial brett, pretty sour. Aftertaste: still dirty, artificial brett, pretty bitter, roasted malts, unpleasant brett flavours. Wow, what is this supposed to be?
3.9750ml in NYC. Pours a murky brown / black with a med tan head. Aroma is funky earthy brett, sour apple, mango, grass. Taste is tart apple, brett funk, dirt, grass, dark malt, bitter hop. Finishes on the sour side, funky galaxy is right.. nice stuff.
3.7Very interesting brew. Dark Cascadian like. Strong hops with some interesting smells and tastes.
3.4Black pour, massive lasting head. Bandaid funk and cola aroma. Hoppy, funky, yeast, some dark chocolate, grass, though nothing really stands out. Light sweet aftertaste.
3.8Bottle from Coaltrain’s the night before my first day back to work after moving to Colorado. Pours a deep, dark brown, but not quite black with a thick tan head that would be gushing without careful pouring. Aroma is super fresh grassy and lightly citrus zest hops. Taste is grass, lemon, orange, grapefruit, a bit of funk, sugar. Crisp, lightly sweet finish. Pretty easy drinking.
4.0Bottle shared with Parksy. Dark body with a foamy brown head. Funky and earthy, a bit of pot, barnyard, grass. The dark malts take a back seat to all this hoppy yeasty funkiness. Delicious!
3.8Pours pretty black with off-white head. Hoppy on the aroma, citrus, and pine. Citrus, pine, and floral notes on the palate. Fairly chewy for the mouthfeel. Finishes with a bit of semi-sweet cocoa, almost a bitter cocoa.
4.0Very nice black pour with 1 finger dark tan head. Super hoppy aroma with a very green and leafy character. Very nuanced flavor with notes of tropical fruit and citrus. Roast and coffee notes show as well. Lots of citrus and juicy fruit in the flavor with some bitter chocolate too. Awesome.
3.7Luscious frosty, frothy, and rocky chocolate cream head on a smooth looking dark chocolate amber body. Delightful looking. Debittered smooth roastyness punctuated by sharp farmhouse and funky lactobacillus aromas. Earthy and complex--a nod to Phantome. Spicy farmhousey body. Funky bitter sour, earthy, quite complex, and medium to full-bodied. Lacto-bacillus throughout this smoothly roasted saison. This tastes like an old-world saison made close to the earth. Outstanding craftsmanship.
3.8The funky galaxy pours a dark brown with massive foamy head. Pretty nice aroma, sour fruit and roasted malt. Taste is bitter piney hops with grape and ash. A very unique brew.
