Prairie Funky Gold Mosaic

Prairie Funky Gold Mosaic

Funky Gold Mosaic is a dry-hopped sour ale. We took Prairie Gold and dry-hopped it with a huge amount of Mosaic hops. The end results are tropical, sour, and an all around new beer drinking experience! This beer is great fresh, but will continue to develop as the wild yeast continues to work in the beer.

4.1 from Qbeer - very hazy orange beer with a white foam left; funky and light acetic with notes of apples and pears; subtle carbonation, medium-bodied, fairly sour, velvety palate, dry sour and very fruity funky finish - fresh and very good
3.1 Pours hazy topaz with a short-lived frothy head. Aroma features tart pomme and tropical fruit, resiny hops and fresh malt. Dry flavor provides tart tropical and apple notes, plus piney hops and fresh malt for an enjoyable wild ale. Texture offers fair body and fizz. Get funky on the mosaic.
4.0 Funky, brett aroma, citric, moldy. Cloudy yellow color with minimal sized white head. Extreme lemony sourness, tarty, lemon zest, bit moldy. Thin body, average to high carbonation. //bottle from Pivoteka
3.5 Mild säuerlicher, hopfig fruchtiger Beginn. Wenig Maracuja, spritzig, trockener Hintergrund. Mittellanger Nachhall, säuerlich, rund. Gut. 10/11/11/11//11
4.0 Piana gruba, sycząca, szybko opada do firanki. Barwa słomkowa, lekko zmętniona. Aromat wyraźnie dziki, winogronowy, naftowy, cytrusowy... W smaku wytrawne, lekko kwaskowe, jest skóra, cierpkie winogrono, biała porzeczka, nafta, cytryna... Niska goryczka, średnie wysycenie, rześkie i pijalne. Ponownie fajna kompozycja, choć mam wrażenie, że wersja Simcoe nieco lepsza.
3.4 650ML bottle Orange straw color, bright white head that swiftly fades away. Does come back on working beer but short lived. Just a thin bubbly collar. Nose is cracker, pineapple, lemon, white wine, hay, a a bit of blanket. Taste is mostly white grape and white wine. Flashes of malt and flashes of tropical fruit. Some tartness and lemon. Medium body, flashes of perky carbonation. Quite refreshing. More balanced in palate than in taste. Far more going in mid and back than front. Clean and crisp. solid
3.6 35,5cl Bottle @ LaBIRRAtorium, Madrid, Spain. Hazy golden colour with a medium size white head. Aroma is citrus, white wine. Taste is citrus, fruits, sour. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.8 Pours a clear light amber. Thin white head. Nose is light funk, citrus, wood. Taste is tart, honey, citrus, hay, perfume, more hay, dry finish. Nice
3.8 Draft at Brody's. Slight hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of citrus, peach and caramel malt. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and above moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow color with a small white head. Has a fruity weak funky citrus hoppy aroma. Fruity weak sour funky citrus hoppy flavor. Has a fruity weak funky citrus hoppy finish.
3.8 Pours a hazy gold from a bottle, some floaties. Aroma is like white wine and stone fruit. Flavor is a little more of a tropical fruit flavor, specifically pineapple. Tart farmhouse notes as well. Pretty good beer.
3.7 Wzorowe piwo dla fanow dzikich drozdzy. Mocno nachmielone, brettowe, żwawe. Lubie ten browar.
3.6 Bottle. Hazy yellow color, white head. Aroma has hops, fruits, farmhouse notes, hint of earth. Nice hoppy taste, farmhouse, mosaic hops, balanced.

2.9 I couldn’t decide if this beer was ok or if it was awful. It falls somewhere in between for me. Aroma was ok. At first it smelled like vomit but as it warmed and I got used to it, it smelled very funky with notes of lemon zest and stale hops. Pour was a cloudy light gold with a thin white film for a head. Taste was just like the aroma. At first it was terrible, but after a few sips it had a lemon candy and dusty hop flavor with a sour and bitter finish. Medium carbonation.
4.1 500ml bottle. Pours pale with a nice white head. White wine, lemon juice, mango, pineapple, plenty of farmyard brett stuff, nice sweet tropical fruit finish. Full body with a nice carbonation. Good.
3.7 bottle. excellent sour/wild ale - the hops combo makes for an interesting taste. very much enjoyed
3.7 500 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99 I think (from notes). Pours a hazy golden color with a small off white head. The aroma has a mix of tart fruit, citrus and tropical notes, acidic character with some dank, earthy hops. The flavor has an interesting blend of tart, acidic citrus and tropical fruit, dank, earthy hops. I always get more earthy character from Mosaic than most other people.
3.7 Draught (part of a Prairie Platter) at TAP in Mong Kok. Pours a hazy green-gold orange w a small fizzy white head. Slightly dull-looking. Smell is tonnes of citrus sourness and funky barnyard yeast, white wine, lemon, green grapes. Taste is less funky and more hop-forward, bright lemon and citrus peel, light to moderate woody hop, drier slightly sweet white wine finish. Body is bright, funky, sour, thin to medium. Good! Appearance and palate could be better, but otherwise a sour ale w lots of funkiness and flavour. Good amount of hoppiness, though not immediately obvious to me that it's Mosaic (which I generally love).
3.7 Tap at TAP on Prairie Artisan launch. Hazy slightly dull goldenrod pour with dissipating fine white head. Aroma is tart apple juice with some slightly piney bitterness and sour funk underneath. Taste is sour and juicy - apple, funk, super dry tart finish, like a Pinot Grigio. Lasting tartness. Light palate. Bit watery but okay. Very well executed sour ale with a hint of funk. Mosaic happiness not as noticeable as I hoped.
3.7 500ml bottle. Cloudy yellow with a foamy white head. Flavors are pineapple, passion fruit and lemon zest with herbal and sugary notes. Medium body, soft to moderate carbonation, smooth texture.
2.6 From a bottle at the 2017 Decatur Beer Festival. Hazy pale golden body with a fine white head. Moderately tart and moderately strong flavor for style. Lively carbonation. Funny and a bit musty with prominent Brett -- not my style but not too bad.
3.4 Super hazy golden coloured body with a nice, robust four centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of pale malt, biscuits, light yeast, some wort, a hint of funk from the brett and yeast strain and a dose of floral and grassy hops - nice and robust throughout the nose. Light-bodied; Strong effervescence; Pungent malt and grassy flavours at first with a big dose of grain, yeast, hay, flowers and more dry notes, but the hops finally show through at the end, as does some of the sour or funky kick (sour might be too far with this one). Aftertaste is very dry and incredibly floral with some hop notes and mellow tart notes the only things that deviate from the grass/hay dryness in the palate. Overall, a good beer and respectable throughout, but there is nothing here that makes this great or worth going out of your way to find, nor spend this kind of money on. Also, this should be categorised as a Saison and definitely not a wild/sour. Good to try, but probably not so much, when I look at how much I spent for this one. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Spec's Liqour in Dallas, Texas on 01-September-2015 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington a bit more than two years later on 20-October-2017.
4.3 My Bottom Line: White pepper is sprinkled onto a bounty of juicy tropical fruit in this otherwise and dry and prickly creation. Further Personal Perceptions: -A sheet of foam slowly dissipates into the misty pale gold. -Mild acidity garnishes the fruity finish. -Drinkability is high. -Tropical fruit flavors are reminiscent of passionfruit, pineapple, starfruit, etc. Bottle.
4.1 Bottle @home (rating backlog). Pours yellow, hazy, very slight white head. Nose is pineapple, grapefruit, passion-fruit. Taste is grapefruit, mango, big pineapple, its juicy its like a fruit salad.
3.7 Not quite as blown away by Funky Gold Mosaic as others, partly because I’m not finding a huge depth of flavor beyond the tartness and funk, partly because I’m going through a phase where I’m bored with sours in general. Still, it’s drinkable as all hell, citric tartness meshing with a mild cracker malt base and some growing barnyard notes on the back end. Mosaics add mild vegetal, tropical and berry hints on the finish, and there’s a floral bitterness that just barely peeks through the sour curtain. Gets better as it warms, but I’m still not totally in love. Massive tart aroma reeking of funk and citrus. Texture’s spot-on, boisterous and sparkly. Probably too low in my score, but I’m just not feeling this pint right now. Oh well.
4.2 Bomber, pours a lemon colored pour with an ephemeral white head. Nos is deep sweet tropical fruit with softer resin and pine. Taste is bittersweet citrus with mild tartness ....packed with flavor. Finishes on the same bittersweet tropical notes.....stunning ale. Quaff Score 8 / 10.......9-3-8-4-18
4.5 Well this is nice. Cloudy golden-yellow. Big hoppy nose, tropical fruit, sweat socks, bretty funk.Flavor similar, bone dry with a nice grassy hop bite, mild tartness, good funk. Champagne like notes.
