Prairie OK-Sí

Prairie OK-Sí

OK-Sí is a bold imperial stout with big flavors! We start with our thick and chewy imperial stout. The flavors are chocolate, coffee, and sweet caramel. This beer is perfect for aging in barrels. The sweetness from the beer balances out the intensity of the oak and spirit. The tequila barrels impart major notes of oak, citrus, agava, dark fruit, and a touch of vanilla. The combination of these two elements make for a very complex experience.

3.8 Bottle. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of chocolate, spice, tequila booziness, liquorice, roasted malts and slight coffee. The taste has bitter coffee, chocolate, boozy oaky notes, spice, vanilla and dark fruits. Interesting beer although the tequila barrels are not smashing it here - still good though.
3.5 Bottle share @ DLD 2016. Pour is close to black with a small beige head. Flavor and aroma of bitter dark chocolate, wood, coffee, tequila, and burnt/roasted grain. Finish is heavy on the tequila and roast.
4.2 Received in a very generous trade with Travis down in FWB, beer poured the standard opaque black with minimal dark head. The beer drank extremely smooth, way smoother than the ABV should have lended itself to. Residual flavors were happiness with a hint of agave.
4.0 Pours a deep dark brown color. Small tan head head that lasted throughout. Aromas of nutty tequila and wood. Flavor was a lot of tequila, hints of smoke, chocolate. Full bodied and creamy. Tasted more bourbon than beer. WOW, this is a flavorful beer!!
3.2 355 ml bottle. Pours a black colour with a small white foamy head. Aroma of strong agave notes, a bit of wood and chocolate. Flavour of roastiness, tequila, wood, chocolate and unpleasant metallic notes. Medium bodied and rather strong alcohol notes in the finish. I really like tequila but this seems to be a bit off.
3.4 355 ml bottle. Pours black color with a small head. Quite weird aroma, tequila is dominant, some faint minty notes, dark chocolate and malts. Wooden flavor, tequila, rubbery, malts and vanilla. Not really my cup of beer this. 4324
3.4 35,5 cl bottle @ home Aroma has rubbery tones, licorice and tequila. Feels a bit stuffy and harsh. Flavour has rubbery notes, tequila, some licorice and chocolate. A disappointment from this brewery; this is bitter in a harsh way.
3.7 355ml bottle from Ølbutikken. Pours pitch black with a smooth brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, oak, wood, syrup, hints of tequila and vinous notes. Taste is smooth, slightly roasty and woody with some tequila, spices, oak, vanilla and coffee. Finish is smooth, slightly roasty and rubbery with some coffee, chocolate, tequila and oak. Interesting, pretty balanced and the tequila notes are not overwhelming.
3.7 Aroma is strong tequila followed by dark malts and vinous notes. The flavor is tequila, dark bread, dark/roasted malts and a long and very alcoholic/liquor finish.
3.6 Bottled. Black with a tan head. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee, bread and bitterness.
3.4 Bottle, 12 fl.oz. Home. A sparkling black night opaque beer with a medium beige head ; medium retention. Chocolate, toast, coffee, alcohol, acid note, herbal note, wood. Medium sweet, round, warming, light dry ; slight fresh wind. Medium good body, average texture, oily, soft carbonation, sweet warming chocolate woody finish. Overall, a pleasant chocolate round strong ale ; 1-dimensional.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty woody tequila and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty woody tequila chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty woody tequila chocolate finish.
3.6 Bottled. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, bread, and chocolate, leading to a dry roasted finish.
3.6 Bottle@Yesprs - pours black with a tan head and lacing. Roasted and sweet malty aroma and taste with some treacle, chocolate, caramel, coffee notes, Roasty and sweet malty finish.
3.7 12 fl oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is wineous and fruity, dark malty. Dense dry malty. Roasted. Bitter and lingering dark malty. Roasted and dry into a dark malty finish.
3.7 Bottle. Poured a deep brown/black, no head, somewhat thin looking. Aromas of wood, spirit, chocolate, coffee, roasting, some smoke, hints of vanilla. Flavor worked for me. Roasted malt, hints of smoke, milk chocolate, coffee, barrel aging, and vanilla. I’m not a tequila fan, so wasn’t sure I’d like this, but the tequila wasn’t strong to me so I enjoyed it. Full body, but texture was a little thin and slick, soft carbonation, bit of booze on the finish. Solid.
3.8 Tasted this in the Doghouse, Glasgow on the 30th January 2016. Keg, font dispense. Dull oily black in colour with a thin dark tan head. Strong malt notes of black coffee, molasses and chicory. Thin oily mouthfeel and no lacing. Dark malt complex delivers a strong suite of impy flavours with prunes, liquorice, soy sauce, burnt molasses, black coffee and bournville chocolate present in the mouth. Difficult to ascertain if there is any hops resins in this as the malt flavours dominate over any bitter aftertaste. Finish is very malty with chicory, soy sauce, black coffee, treacle and a warming burr of alcohol present in the mouth. A very complex Imperial Stout, full of flavour and strength. Well recommended.
3.6 Bottle split two ways. Pitch black pour with a tan head. Notes of spices, prunes, bitter chocolate, booze, roast and dark sweet malts.
3.9 Very unusual and complex stout. You breathe in freshly squeezed apple juice, drink port wine and exhale coffee. A little bit out of balance. For some reason I was expecting a bit more sweetness while it has sour/bitter finish instead. Everyone should definitely try it.
3.6 355ml bottle. Pitch black colour with late awakening, small, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Sweet, chocolately dark malty aroma, notes of molasses, treacle, vanilla, some caramel and toffee, hints of wallpaper paste. Taste has a spirituous tequila touch, is substantially dark malty with notes of molasses, treacle, oak, vanilla, additional alcoholic influences of grappa and calvados; warming alcoholic finish. Full body, super soft palate, gentle carbonation, excellent mouthfeel. Boozy, heavy, nearly busted with superfluous hard liquor pseudo-amendment.
3.5 Black with a small tan head. Roasted aroma of coffee and dark chocolate with a spicy touch and sharp alcohol. Sweet, roasted flavour burned and ashy notes. In the aftertaste, spicy and fruity notes overtake the hard roasted character, but not enough to save the beer.
3.6 Keg at BD Soho. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich, roasted malts, tangy dark fruits, agave / tequila, salted caramel, burnt toast, vanilla and umami. The taste is rich, slick, charred wood, hard roast, umami, salted liquorice, agave, dry wood, dull smoked, ash, vanilla, coffee grounds, mild acidity and some alcohol warmth with a dry, woody finish. Full body, fine carbonation and slick mouth-feel. Great aroma, but it is a bit chewy and dry after a bit. Good fun.
3.6 A decent stout, but not my favorite by far. Thin, and tequila barrels miss and don’t meld will with this. Its as though someone took a better Prairie stout and dumped a shot of Joe Curve in it. It’s not undrinkiable...but better tequila barrel stouts, and better prairie beers.
4.5 Tasting session @ Budapest. Black coloured and with a light brown head. Heavy roasted aroma, alcohol. Nice flavor, warming alcohol, roasted, wood. Moderate bitter finish.
3.8 Pours opaque black with a tinge of a brown head. Aroma is caramel, molasses, vanilla, oak and slight coffee. Taste is oaky, leather, slight tequila heat, slight cocoa. Full body
4.1 An inch of dark khaki, frothy-tight head falls back to a solid ring and thin half cap with several short islands of lace over a black body Medium intensity builds into the residual, solid complexity, complimentary components with strong depth... citrus and melon like tequila notes are accented by a mild mustiness, embossed by creamy oak and oats reaching deep into dark chocolate, dark fruits, and treacle offering a strong compliment to the base stout character, mildly spicy tannins dry out as vanilla and cinnamon rolls are conjured... classic creamy medium plus Noir texture while remaining slick and cohesive... residuals bring the previously mentioned components into further balance with a lasting dryness, citrus and melon shining to show off great depth 12 oz bottle code 27241RV1 07:21 08915 served at 55° into Orrefors Difference Porter snifter
2.4 Bottle shared at Franks. This was my entry for worst beer of the tasting and it looks like it was a winner...for the competition. The beer itself was total shit. Black pour small beige head. Smell is offensive sharpie, mold, taste is brown sugar, astringent chemical, and other weird notes. Rough
3.5 Pours a very dark brown with a mocha froth colored head. Dark malt nose. Not sweet, but rich. Sweet potato notes. Some tequila accents as well. Viscous and chewy. The tequila barrel imparts a melon rind flavor. Moderately sweet dark malt. I don’t get any oak or vanilla.
3.8 Bottle thanks to Santa. Pours out pretty much black with a small white head. Aroma is of limey salty woody tequila, roast, sweet chocolate notes, light boozy notes. Taste is solid, chocolate, tequila barrel, light lime notes, roast, mild sweetness, some barrel notes, mild alcohol. Pretty damn good.
3.5 Probably popped this too soon... Appearance: almost black, thin toffee head. Aroma: base beer got lost in the tequila... All tequila. Taste: tequila, mild dark chocolate, caramel, molasses, more tequila. Palate: thin, mild carbonation. Decent stout, too much tequila.
