Prairie Prairie Ale

Prairie Prairie Ale

Prairie Ale is our classic saison. We brew this beer with pilsner malt, wheat malt, flaked wheat, and cane sugar. A healthy dose of saaz hops are used to add a spicy element to the beer. Prairie Ale is fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, and brettanomyces. Notes of black pepper and pineapple can be found in this beer.

3.7 Bottle @home (rating backlog). Pours yellow/golden, white head. Nose is brett, lemon and esters. Taste is very much like the nose, some lime and citrus fruits, sour and tart.
3.8 Dégustée au printemps 2015 (De mes notes). .
3.6 Flaska från Beergium. Prairie-provning. Blekorange med vitt skum. Skummar över något vid öppning. Oerhört mycket filmjölk i doften.
Piana obfita, sycząca i mydlana, szybko opada do chmurki.
3.9 Bottle. Pours with excessive head and coarse bead although the head holds. No lace. Very fruit aromatics. Relatively clean although come complexity. Spice, cloves, ester, citrus. Palate might be a little sweet although it is fresh and balanced. A little more acid or bitterness could help. This is a beer for a hot day. Very enjoyable.
3.8 Bottle - classic Saison? - eh, not so much - enjoyable strong brett pale? - yeah, I’d say so - nose of white wine, pineapple brett, muskiness, pepper - full, lively carbonation in the mouth - a bit sweet, but that works well with the tropical fruit, pear, and white grape flavors - moderate spiciness and buggy funk late - spiciness and acidity, along with a lingering funkiness, subdue the sweetness by the finish - leaves dry, prickly acidity on the tongue - a brett tripel of sorts.
4.0 Nice stone fruits and spicy, Peppers, nutmeg aroma with little funky, barn-like notes and subtle malty hints. Spicy and fruity in taste. Very lively, high carbonation but refreshing and alcohol is absent in mouthfeel. Very good!
3.7 Bottle. Pours hazy straw to pale gold. Copious head. Sharp, somewhat stinging aroma. Grapefruit. Flavor opens bright, with citrus flavors, picking up some malt backbone as it develops. Finish is wild yeast. Dry finish. Heavy carb. Nice, smooth mouthfeel. A very enjoyable ale.
3.6 0.5l bottle. Don’t leave it on the table, cause it most definitely wants out this. A bright white almost foamy fluffy head over a cloudy lemonade yellow colored body. It has lots of fresh citrus yeasty tones on the nose. Sharp white wine, tart yellow berries and something mildly salt. Like it, even if it’s perhaps a tad too sharp. Overcarbonated I’d say on the bubbles, aggressive and a little unpleasant on the palate really. Tastes good, but suffers from the hard bubbles. No doubt that it has a strong champagne/white wine touch over it. Mineralish, green grapes. Mild green melon, woody tart and really dry. Near bone dry. Like it, but I just wish the bubbles was toned down a bit. 17.07.2015
3.4 Almost clear golden color with off-white head. Aroma has sweet malt, yeast notes, some meadow flowers and apricot notes. Taste starts slightly malty and sweet with floral notes, slightly astringent on the finish. Lingers with floral yeast notes. Medium body and carbonation. Overall it’s decent but slightly too sweet and yeasty for my taste.
3.2 Bottle,1 pint 9 fl.oz. Aspect : blonde assez troublée et mousse à fines bulles. Nez : très "levure", fruits jaunes, herbeux, épicé. Bouche : fruitée-banane, épicée-coriandre-poivre, légèrement amère. Vive carbonatation.
0.5 I’ve had everything from super hoppy pale ales to super malty nut ales and porters, and many a saison in between. This is one of the worst things I have ever put in my my mouth. Maybe I got a bad one, who knows. I had to spit this out and pour the rest down the drain.
2.8 Bottle 75 cl. Pours a cloudy golden with a tiny, white head. Very citrusy aroma combined with Brett, yeast and esters. Medium body, very estery and phenollic - and it’s not all very pleasant. I think this really shows that Saisons can get old and tired after a couple of years. No best of date. 130117
Pepper & Pelz...was will ich mehr!? Saftaffin und chardonnaytrocken. Holla, not bad 😎. 0,5l Buddel von BEEEEERGIUM. 6-7€. Sale 😐. AGAIN: with Maui. 0,5l Bottle too. 8/3/7/4/16 SweetGrainy, dominant UnSaisony & bretty pappig🙄 whos the fuckin prarie😎? Belgian Ale HoneyLiquor!?🍄🎆 ...
3.6 Draft at Bierstube. Cloudy golden yellow pour that started with an abundance of white froth. Thick lace. Juicy, fruity and herbal. Limes. Apricots. Dill. Celery hearts. Blonde biscuit malts. The Brett adds a bit of tang but not much funk. Sweetish but finishes mostly dry. Very easy drinking for the listed ABV.
3.9 Slightly opaque and golden appearance. Faint citrus notes - very little aroma. Has yeasty, stone fruit (apricot) notes but finish is a little harsh and alcoholic. Overall a solid Saison.
3.7 Poured to a Struise tulip, the color is a beautiful, cloudy pale gold. The head continuously built long after the pour. The aroma is highly herbal, a zesty bouquet of white sage, lavender, soft mint, and cracked black pepper. Malt has its moments buried down low in honeycomb and possibly pancake batter later on. The prevalent sensation in the early flavor is that it’s too hot. The herbs are still everywhere, and folded in with caramelized pears, pineapple, and focaccia. It is all assuredly pleasant and cleanly constructed; the alcohol warmth is consistently too distracting for this to be truly great. The palate is lean and dry for the most part, if occasionally brushing up against the inevitable slickness that high alcohol brings.
3.4 Alaranjada palha de média turbidez, espuma branca abundante de média persistência. Aroma intenso de fermento, cítrico alaranjado, seca, carambola. No paladar leve acidez e dulçor.
5.0 Temperature from 12,6°C to 14,3°C. Another mischievous one that rushes away when opening the bottle - thanks the bottle is not too short... Opaque yellow body (suspended yeast cells) headed by a hyper aery and crystalline foam that quickly collapses to a kind of a meringue. Aroma of lemon, flowers, fresh grass; that’s fresh without being unsignificant; that’s a bit rough : sour apple, apricot, pineapple (not sweet). Taste is the same, and more than that : it’s swarming with sensations, it’s crackling like funky champagne. A lot of fineness and character while being pleasant and quite easy to enjoy. Perfect with varied kinds of goat cheese and deli. I absolutely have to taste it again, to increase knowledge about it, so amazing this beer is.
3.8 Pours a golden yellow with big fizzy head. Aromas of wine, yeast, & some funk. Smooth yeasty taste with a touch of the funk.
2.9 Bottle, 1 pint 9 fl. oz. Home. A sparkling golden fizzy beer with a big white foamy head ; good retention. Herbs, vegetable, mushroom (not my thing...), alcohol, light pepper. Light to medium sweet, light dry bitter refreshing ; warming. Full body, thin silky texture, good carbonation, warming dry finish, light bitter. Overall, average herbal vegetable strong ale.
3.7 A 16.9 fl oz (500ml) bottle with a Julian bottled on date of 24114, meaning it was bottled on 29th August 2014. It was poured into a Duvel tulip glass. It poured a cloudy golden colour with a 2 finger pillowy white head that dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing. Nice funky farmhouse aromas with some pineapple, sour apple, light honey, some citrus and pepper. Taste includes lemon juice, green apple, honey and pepper. Surprisingly a little on the sweet side. Dry, light to medium bodied with high carbonation. Overall, great colours and aromas although it was surprisingly on the sweet side for me.
3.7 8.2%ABV. Saison. Poured out a dirty deep gold. 10ºSRM. Nose has aromas of aceto and unripe plum tartness. Mouthfeel is sudsy. Palate is surprisingly light. There is a brief sour which evaporates into a smoky sweet palate. Like a deeply roasted wheat malt or toasted wheat germ. Some hop bitterness. Clean sweet finish.
3.8 Bottle. Light straw, billowing white frothy head. Aromas of pineapple and other tropical fruit, sour Brett funk and hints of pepper. Bubblegum, pineapple, Brett and pepper flavours which are all dominated by alcohol. Perfect high carbonation and refreshing for a beer of such high ABV
3.2 Lukt: Høy og gjær. Utseende: Gul. Skum/kullsyre: Dekkende skum. Smak: Høy, gjær, liten søtlig avslutning. Hvor: Kjøpt@VP Kvadrat, Nydt@Tasting kveld hos Bryne. Medium: Flaske@500ml, ABV@8,2%, Når@29.01.2016
4.0 Rating #1607 - 16.04.2015 - On tap at Sugarbowl. Pours a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head and lots of lace. Aroma is of brett, pineapple, pepper, citrus, soft fruits, esters, alcohol. Clean mouthfeel, medium carbonation, medium alcohol warmth. Taste is a crisp sweetness, tempered with herbal notes, mild pepperiness, mild sourness from the yeast. Great "imperial" saison.
4.2 Robe blonde trouble, mousse peu abondante.
3.6 ON bottle from Vinmonopolet Norway, on order. Hazy golden color, ok foam. Medium aroma intensity; funky, floral, citrus and light stable. Medium body & complexity. Good sourness- some bitterness. Enjoyable
