Prairie Prairie Noir

Prairie Noir is our bourbon barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. We brew this beer with a huge amount of oats to give it an ever so silky mouth feel. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. Notes of whiskey and carmel are also packed into this beer.

4.3 Bottle, 13.7%. Very dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, barrel and whiskey. Flavour is roasted malt, chocolate, sweet, caramel, marshmallow, barrel, vanilla, wood, whiskey, warming and a little bitter.
3.7 37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma and flavour are roasted malt, bitter chocolate, coffee, and bourbon - with a bitter finish.
4.0 Bottle to snifter. Looks good; an opaque dull black with foamy darker beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells RICH and malty with big notes of chocolate, oak, and roast alongside a bit of whiskey and vanilla. Tastes like it smells with a mildly but pleasantly bitter medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Smooth and tasty.
3.8 Black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, wood, barrel, smoke, caramel, light roast. Fuller bodied, fairly smooth for its size, tasty stuff.
3.9 I can find the occasional Prairie Ale at the Cellar in Odessa. The best imperial stouts, no, but usually good. Tonight I have Noir to try. Imperial stout, oak, whiskey barrels, I am all over it. The 12 oz bottle is opened and I'm pouring into a snifter. Dark, very dark, of course, and an accompanying skim of tan foam. A nice, no, a great, scent of vanilla, caramel and malt. Now the taste, hmm, good for sure. Raspberry jam, toffee, medium chocolate, vanilla again and grain. Not a full sensation but agreeable. Alcoholy with some woodiness. Smooth.
4.1 12oz bottle. Poured a black color with a smaller sized tan head. Vanilla, chocolate, coffee, bourbon, and wood.
3.9 Bottle from Cask & Flask in San Jose, CA. Pours like motor oil. Aroma is bourbon, oak, dark chocolate. Taste is sharp dark chocolate, wood and warming alcohol. Pretty straight to the point, stout aged in whiskey oak. Okay.
4.0 Black color with a brown head. Maple vanilla sweet chocolate aroma. Chocolate vanilla caramel roasted coffee flavor. Heavy body.
4.1 Bottle from Final Gravity. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head and a chocolate and bourbon aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses flavor with chocolate, coffee and a warm bourbon trail.
3.9 Big chocolate aromas. The toasted marshmallow from the description is also prevalent, a nice twist. Pitch black body, dark brown head which recedes instantly. Boozy bourbon barrel taste with a chocolatey and hot aftertaste.
4.6 Black pour tan head. Chocolate, coffee, vanilla, marshmallow and booze. Sticky and milky feel.
4.0 Black as black can be this one Lovely aroma. Could sniff this one a long time Fine complexity and a quite balanced fine sweetness Creamy texture Dark chocolate, whiskey, confect and toffee in the flavor [Bottle from a trade with ChrisOfstad]
3.8 0,33 litre Bottle from Total Wine and Spirits, Summerlin, Las Vegas, NV. Black with light brown head. Roasted malts, booze, whiskey, Caramel,

3.9 Very dense with no head. Dark chocolate. Vanilla and toast. Inky, yeasty, vegemite aroma. Bonox. Palate is silky and sweet. Very dense and rich. Massive power yet balanced.
4.0 355 ml bottle bought at Angry Beer in Mong Kok. Looks: Opaque deep blackish brown colour; Less than one-quarter finger head with residual soapy dark beige foam which fades in 10 seconds; Fair sticky lacing with zero carbonation. Aroma: Very fragrant full dark malt, with fair roastyness, strong vanilla, strong whiskey, strong smooth oak barrel, liquorices, strong caramel, toffee, cream, strong milk coffee, chocolates, floral, sugar, spices, bread crumbs and biscuits. Marvelous! Taste: Strong sweet and very gooey dark malt, with very strong whiskey, strong vanilla, strong liquorices, strong oak, burnt toast, caramel, light toffee, chocolates, black coffee, floral, heavy syrup, spices, strong herbs, light biscuits, lemon, mid to strong bitter hops and grass. Body: Full body. Oily palate. Mouth Feel: Strong dark maltyness in a very viscous background, as oily and gooey as a RIS can be thanks to shit load of oats. Not as roasty as Bomb! but rather the burnt character is prominent. Insanely whiskey boozy reminds me of Rochefort 10, matched nicely by strong vanilla and smooth oaks from the barrels. Caramel and toffee are overwhelmed, but not the black coffee and chocolates. Flowery with syrupy sweetness. Spicy, very herbal crumbs and biscuity with lemon to round. This is crazy but nice! Booze: The 11% abv may seem timid comparing the 13% norm in the Bombs! series, but the barrel whiskey is clearly over the line to give you slight burns at first, but compensated nicely by strong vanilla and oak smoothness. A bit too sweet but it's not cloying. Quite a statement! Hoppiness: Floral and spices in nose. Strong herbs, floral, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness - hops and liquorices - is quite strong for an abrupt, medium level sweet-bitter dark malty finish. After Taste: Slightly dry. Strong sweet whiskey vanilla and bitter to mouth. Comments: With every iteration of Prairie's RIS, I feel like we as customers are being tested like guinea pigs for the brewer's wild experimentation. This one feels like a stripped-down Bomb!, with chili, coffee and chocolates removed. While the extra oats are too gooey, the barreled whiskey added much needed kicks instead of being a train wreck. The vanilla and smooth oaks are particularly charming. It's strong for strong sake, but I like it this time. Well worth trying!
Aromat: Z butelki beczka, wanilia, marcepan, praliny. Jakbym wsadził nos do przeterminowanej o rok bombonierki :) Ze szkła dodatkowo uaktywniła się nuta szlachetnego alkoholu i lekkie aromaty suszonych owoców. Smak: Likier czekoladowy, praliny, kawa.
4.5 The aroma is figs, licorice, sweet malty smell. Pours almost black with dark tan head, mostly diminishing and very good lacing. The taste is sweet and bitter, very good. The body is full. the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish long. Wow, this is one of the best of the Bombs!!
4.2 Dużo czekolady i marcepanu, pralinki, z kawowym tłem. Finisz z whisky.
4.1 12 oz single bottle from Molly's Spirits, vintage 2017. Black appearance with a small, lingering tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, whiskey, molasses, mild caramel/toffee, mild roast, light vanilla, light espresso and a touch of oak. Similar flavor, rich, dark and with moderate sweetness, a light bittering balance and lingering barrel complexities. Medium to full body with a smooth feel and a pleasant finish. Excellent.
4.0 About as sweet as I can take a stout, but man, what a big glob of chocolate, caramel, and bourbon, followed up by anise, black cherry, oak, and vanilla, with hints of tobacco and mocha. Oozes out of the bottle, with a nice boozy warmth and loads of bourbon and oak on the nose. Not sold on any other style they make, but holy shit can Prairie make a stout.
3.9 355 ml bottle. Pours jet black color with a small beige head. Aroma has intense with vanilla and bourbon, marshmallow is faint, cocoa, dark chocolate, licorice and some subtle spices. Flavor is chocolaty, alcohol is fairly intense and present, licorice, subtle vanilla and coffee tones, some grain notes. Quite heavy, alcohol is slightly too much present here, otherwise this would have been great. 4426
3.6 35,5 cl bottle @ olio Aroma has liquor and licorice. Also rubbery tones. Flavour has salty licorice, liquor, herbal tones and alcohol. Too sharp alcohol here and also the rubbery tones disturb a bit.
4.1 The aroma is packed with bourbon, coffee, chocolate and dates. The color is pitch black. The taste is packed with bourbon, coffee, chocolate, dried fruits, cocoa nibs, vanilla, molasses, sugar and toffee. A nice beer!
4.6 Zwart bier zonder schuim. Geweldig bier!
4.2 Bottle. Dark brown color, coffee foam. Aroma: good coffee with vanilla and bourbon, chocolate, sweet. Taste: coffee and a lot of soft bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, gently and very good.
4.2 Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is coffee, roasted, meaty, vanilla, taste is similar, chewy, liquorice, caramel.
