Shared bottle at home. Pours hazy copper with beige head. Aroma of caramel, raisins, notes of chocolate. Tastes quite bitter with some sweetness. Medium bodied, alcoholic warmth, bitter finish.
Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma has caramel, ripe fruits, raisins, vanilla and a hint of tart fruity notes. Taste is malty sweet with long sweet aftertaste. Flavors of caramel, dark malt, vanilla, raisins and ripe fruits.
W aromacie rodzynki, suszone ciemne owoce, znakomite belgijskie drożdże, dośc słodko, bardzo przyjemnie. Barwa bardzo ciemnorubinowa, mętne, gęsta piana i idealny lacing - super. W smaku znów dużo owoców, estry kwiatowe, przypraw niedużo, za to dużo fajnych owoców. Jednocześnie sporo alkoholu, ale nie gryzie on zbyt mocno, głównie ociepla podniebienie. Znakomite piwo, niezwykle złożone, quadrupel z najwyższej półki.

A- Malty, caramel.
A- Brown color, hazy liquid, off white head.
T- Malty, fruity, caramel, raisins, brown sugar.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish.
O- Good example for a quad, but honestly something I would get bored with pretty quick. Nothing wrong with it, just didn't do it for me as some other quads have lately.

I have this stubby 33 cl bottle obtained from a distant retailer that is keeping me in Belgian beers. The glass used this evening will be the Straffe Hendrik tulip that I got this spring in Bruges. The view is an amber-brown topped with a head of interesting doe-brown bubbles that have some yellow to them. I smell currants, figs and brown bread. And what of the taste? Pretty doggone nice. Dates, some fig, a touch of brown syrup sweetness, grain and some decent bitterness concluding. A distinct fullness, perhaps from the carbonation. Good presentation.
Pours dark brown with small head. Aroma is alcohol, dried fruits. Light sweetness. Boring!

August, dense brown body with an orange tinge and draped with a caramel-brown head. The nose delivers a wonderful crusty Belgian yeast character, with a warm liveliness to it that is punctuated by figgy notes. The body follows through with Belgian bread crust, pleasant yeastiness, fig, and some citrus hops. Lovely breadiness. Medium-bodied feel to it. Absolutely delicious.

o.33l bottle from Belga Sormester. Dark brown, almost black body. Light brown, yellowish head starts big and is fairly persistent. Complex fruity aromas, raisin, plum. Then some cocoa and roasted aromas as well.
Taste is again complex. Red berries, plum, raisin. Mildly roasted malt, cocoa. Some nuts. Also caramel a bit. Palate is silky, mild carbonation but a lot of alcohol warmth, also in the aftertaste. A great Belgian beer.
Als je 1 van de perfecte quads wil moet je deze zeker proberen ondanks het alcoholpercentage van 10 is dit een leuke ervaring in de mond explosie van smaken, hoe een quad moet zijn, je proeft zoet, zuur en bitter die niet voor onaangenaam gevoel zorgt
Dark brown, white head and lasting lacing. Aroma of plums and raisins. Taste is sweetish malty stewed fruit and banana. Medium carbonation, slightly oily. Very nice.
Mnóstwo rodzynek, fig, lekka palonosc kawowa, dość słodkie chociaż niestety trochę puste, wodniste. Alko bardzo ukryte, pije się je przyjemnie i możemy być mega zdradzieckie.
33cl fles. Donkerbruin bier met crème kleurige wand klevende schuimkraag. Geur: mout, wat metaal, broodkorst. Smaak: geroosterde mout, koffie, wat alcoholisch, ietwat peperkoek. Medium volmondig. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: geroosterde moutbitterheid, alcohol verwarmend. Geen gedroogd fruit gemerkt. Dit is geen doorsnee quadrupel. Lekker.
Robe brune, trouble, avec des flocons de levure. Mousse brune plutôt faiblarde. Nez marqué de fruits cuits, malt, alcool. Bouche assez ronde, rondeur qui s'étend en deuxième bouche, conjointement à une légère amertume. Flaveurs d'alcool au palais, richesse du malt, notes de levure bien présentes. C'est riche, agréable, mais manque un peu de complexité, et de subtilité surtout. Reste sympa néanmoins, et se boit assez facilement pour le degré (l'amertume équilibre l'alcool).
Préaris nous propose ici une quadruple bien ficelée ! Toute en puissance sur un alcool plutôt bien maîtrisée et très élégante pour un moment chaleureux qui se déguste lentement. Brun limpide avec une mousse beige de 5 mm, le visuel est plutôt pas mal. Le nez est fermé, mais on y décèle caramel, prune, de légères herbes et un alcool bien présent aux accents de whisky. C'est donc réellement à la dégustation que cette quadruple se révèle. Pas trop sucrée, ses 10 % lui permettent d'avoir du caractère. L'alcool est cependant bien maîtrisé et une amertume bien ficelée et avec 50 d'IBU à un bon niveau l'accompagne pour conférer de la fraîcheur et une belle alliance. La construction de cette Préaris est de fait très bien pensée. Du côté des arômes c'est assez épuré mais très élégant, et ceux-ci sont là pour accompagner et habiller l'alcool plutôt que de complexifier à outrance la bière, ce qui n'aurait pas réellement de sens. L'attaque commence par une belle amertume avec des arômes de caramel, de petits arômes de chocolat voire de café (l'ensemble étant assez subtil), de légères épices, un peu d'herbes et surtout ce bel alcool aux accents de whisky. C'est à compter de la seconde bouche que l'alcool s'affirme réellement, de façon brillante et des arômes sur une belle tension. L'alcool devient seulement un peu agressif, sur l'arrière bouche, celui-ci étant plus "brut". Le final, d'une bonne longueur reprend la suite de la seconde bouche avec cet alcool bien entouré mais qui continue à prendre de la force en s'alliant à l'amertume. Un bel équilibre pour un pur race.

The beer is very dark brown colored and has a large creamy head, with good carbonation.
The aroma is malty and fruity with notes of caramel, roasted malts, dried fruits, raisins, candy sugar, chocolate, vanilla and some light spiciness.
Taste is medium to full and starts with caramel, roasted malts and dried fruits, and goes to bitter with chocolate, fresh hops and spices.
The finish is dry, bitter, fresh hops and a little alcoholic.

Bottled, 330ml at De Zandloper Taphouse, Bruges, West Flanders, Belgium. Very dark brown with cream head. There is a caramelisation to this but fairly restrained, hints of toffee and fig, prunes with a chocolate background. Full on. Good beer.
Pours a very dark brown with a medium off white head. Aromas of raisins, caramel, figs, dates, fudge, marinated fruit. Taste is lots of caramel along with raisins and marinated fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Appearance- dark brown, ruby tinges, a clingy foamy beige head. Aroma- dates, brown bread, pecan pie, toasty malt, caramel, nutty malt, toffee, biscuit, hint of raisin. Taste- treacle, fruitcake, sticky dates, nuts, pecan pie, toffee penny, burnt toast, boozy dark fruits. Full and quite rich and sticky in the mouth. Tasty.
