Pretty Things Meadowlark IPA

Pretty Things Meadowlark IPA

Meadowlark IPA is a new juicy and floral hoppy ale we brewed to celebrate the flavor and spirit of American craft brewing. This 7% alcohol beer has a sunny orange-gold colour, 60 International Bittering Units, a smooth mouthfeel and layers of soft flowery hops. We wove fragrant Citra and Bravo hops from the Pacific Northwest with intensely fruity Galaxy hops from Australia. The malts are English pale & crystal, flaked barley with malty highlights from Munich malt and Roast Barley. The resulting patchwork is as “American” tasting as short ribs and slaw, and provides an excellent accompaniment to that kind of food too!

3.7 On draft at Lord Hobo in Cambridge. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Fruity nose. Flavors of orange with some grassy notes. A touch of sweetness on the palate. Bitter finish.
3.3 Draught. Clear rich yellow with medium sized creamy white head, floral aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish fruity taste, long finish with perfume like flavor. Too fragrant and not hoppy enough.
3.4 On tap at Cugino’s. It poured a hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma was of citrus and grass. It had a medium body with light carbonation. The taste was of citrusy hops with some bitterness and a little sweetness with a good malt balance. Good stuff.
3.3 Tap: semi clear gold color. Lemony aroma with some grass in there. Hoppy flavors with some wet wood notes. Pretty good.
3.1 4/29/15. 22oz bottle from Chan’s - Destin side. This was getting close to the best by date... age seemed to be showing. Orange pour with a small khaki head, mild lacing. Mild dank hops, citrus, grainy pale malts, old hops. Bitter flavor, a bit chalky, aspirin, floral, citrus, grainy. Meh.
3.8 on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Slightly hazy medium amber with a generous four-finger rocky white head, dots and spots of lace. Strong aroma of citrus mixed with light hops. Taste is sweet floral malt that smoothly moves to a swallow that is both carbonated and hoppy. Citrus is in high evidence, but it’s not enough to run over the malt. Although it is definitely an IPA, malt gets its due, and is the prevailing taste at the end. Really good stuff.
4.1 On tap at the International Tap House in Chesterfield. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aroma is pine with slight biter orange peel. Some chocolate or toffee on the back end. Interesting beer.
3.4 Draft at mugs. A little odd but interesting brew. Strong umami note, with some lemon and chardonnay. Hop bitterness comes on strong in the finish. Lace film on glass. Good.
3.8 On tap at Lord Hobo. Pours a hazy golden with a small white head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of tropical fruits and pine, pleasing. Taste is moderately bitter and "wheaty" (not sure of my audio notes on this one). A little sweet but only to support that bitterness. Easy drinking with a moderate body and a high carbonation. Nice one!
3.4 Bottle. Golden, cloudy, average and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and lightly sweetish aroma, some caramel and some light bread with some tropical fruitiness, citrus and grapefruit hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, light caramel and fruitiness, piney and light grapefruit hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, light caramel and faint fruitiness, lots of citrus - piney hoppyness. Really nice bitterness, but too much caramel for me/not dry enough.
3.1 Clear, light amber, lacy. Medium body, flat mouthfeel, definite but simple and uncharming flavor and finish. Bitter, dry. Grapefruit, floral, supported by a hint of honey. Strong but not very appealing.
4.0 on tap at lord hobo. cloudy if not murky/milky pale golden greyish with a very nice sticky white head, good retention. bright citrus, coniferous grassiness, almost juicy mangoes, danky melons, candies and strawberries, very lightly toasted maltiness, touch of floral honey. average to light carboantion, light to medium body - oily and fluffy; balanced spicy-citrusy finish. much enjoyed malt/hop bill! very good!
4.0 On tap @ Lord Hobo. Appearance: Cloudy golden/orange with a good white head and heavy lacing. Aroma: Quite hoppy with citrus, resin, mild caramel malt in the background. Taste: Moderate sweetness. Citrus forward with resin in the background. Good malt backbone. Moderate bitterness. Palate: Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Moderately dry. Resin and caramel finish. Overall: Very good balance. A bit malty, but not nearly enough to be a problem. Easy to drink. Nice hop bill. Tasty and quenching.
3.9 On tap at Lord Hobo. Pours very hazy blond with medium-high white head. Very good lacing. Aroma is of citrus, fruits. Hard to grasp. Taste is of lots of citrus, tropical fruits, bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Palate: Well balanced. Light-medium body. Soft carbonation. Overall: Very nice.
J’aime.
3.1 Bomber from Boston, thanks Rosey. Nice carbonation, not very much head unfortunately. I guess we are almost four months from bottling, maybe that has something to do with the lack of head. Aroma is very mild, some citrus detected. Appearance is an orange gold. Not much of interest going here, but it is totally fine. I am going to blame the age and transportation for the seeming drop of in quality.
3.8 On tap at Lord Hobo. Completely murky gold pour, lots and lots of yeast floating around, foamy white head and medium sheets of lacing. Aroma is floral, nice and hoppy, honey malt, definitely some malty aromas in there, really nice fresh juicy hoppiness, some pine. Taste is very piney, lots of pine, resin on the palate, good strong bitterness, pretty juicy, pungent. Palate is med-full bodied, nice chewy IPA, pretty solid IPA.
3.8 Cloudy orange pour from 22oz bottle at home with white ring of tiny head. Orange grapefruit aroma. Hints of vanilla on a tropical citrus hoppy juicy ipa. Pretty tasty
3.5 Poured from a large bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a pretty cloudy and hazy straw color with a very large, foamy-creamy off-white head with great retention, and good cling and lacing. Its aroma featured hops tones of straw, grain, citrus, and pine, along with some notes of wheat, yeast, and barley. Its taste was somewhat sour and grainy, with some flavors of yeast and wheat, along with lighter citrus and earthy hops. The beer had a pretty lively mouthfeel with good carbonation and a lot of fizz, and was fairly dry yet thick with a slight alcohol presence.
4.1 Pours gold with a thick white head. Aroma is pungent pine, wild flower nuances, and syrupy-malty sweetness. Taste is initially sweet malts followed quickly by heavy pine and a long mild bitter finish. It has a pretty substantial mouth feel. ’Hefty’ might be a good way to describe this IPA.
4.3 Это пиво вкусное. я, конечно, рекомендую его всем, что любит хорошую Craft пива!
4.3 This is one of my favorite IPAs. Not dry, not overly bitter. Perfect amount of hoppiness. Very drinkable
3.6 Bottle. Pours murky orange with thick white head that lingers. Pine resin flavor that isn't too overwhelming. Marginal complexity.
4.2 Nice and light. Grassy hops, with a light malt base with a touch of wheat.
3.6 Draft to taster. Looks good; a transparent gold with foamy white head. Smells of juicy hops with a bit of well-balanced sweetness from the malt bill. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Could be dryer, but enjoyable nonetheless.
3.0 Appearance: this beer pours with a large pretty white head, the head settles very quickly, the beer is an average golden color, hazy, laces nicely Aroma: pine, grass, light bread, alcohol Taste: bitter initially, followed by a lightly toasted malt sweetness, bitter aftertaste, Palate: heavy mouthfeel, bitter aftertaste, average carbonation Overall: a good ipa, I feel it needs a little more to differentiate itself from other Ipas, strong malt and bitter balance but this is more bitter than malty
3.7 Appearance: cloudy semi translucent beer with very white head very nice lacing left on glass Aroma: citrus hoppy grapefruit acidic Taste: hoppy citrus flavor with grapefruit keys notes earthy and grassy Palette: bitter at end, light to medium body Overall: this is a great ipa and well worth it - refreshing and very flavorful
3.8 Bottle at home. Clear golden orange with wonderful nose of evergreen and citrus. Tastes of rich pine, caramel, orange rind, resin, touch of aerosol spray but quite nice. High carbonated and drying finish.
3.2 Bottle... Hazy peach-colored pour with a mid-sized, white head. Decent retention. The aroma consists of stone fruits and resin. Medium to full-bodied with pillow-soft carbonation. This baby is bursting at-the-seams with generic, rindy bitterness. Bitter for the sake of being bitter. No true lupulin flavor. Just bitter. Did I mention “bitter?” Lengthy, crisp, medium-bitter finish. Bottle courtesy of otakuden!
4.0 Pour is clear golden with a thick white frothy head. Nose is tropical fruits with some grassy hops and malty sweetness. Strong pine bitterness with fruity esthers in the mouth. Tastes almost more than 7 ABV. Strong malt backbone with caramel notes without being too sweet. Great IPA with a good balance between fruity hops and malty sweetness!
