Pump House Blueberry Ale

Pump House Blueberry Ale

Refreshing ale served with blueberries in the glass. Pours golden-orange with a fine white head. Aroma of fresh blueberries, blueberry bread (floury), crystallized sugars and pepper. Sweet flavors dominated by mild blueberries with a malty background. Sweet fruity aftertaste with hints of pepper. Light-medium body, creamy and refreshing. Our Blueberry Ale is better enjoyed as an aperitif or with dessert. Keeping an open mind, it fits nicely with food plates which are slightly sweet in flavours (like some Cantonese dishes), or with any meat when served with a fruit based sauce (preferably blueberry, such as our Blueberry Ale Sweet and Mild BBQ sauce offered at our Barnyard BBQ) or with fruits in the stuffing. Some nice pairings: Cheese cake (with or without fruits), crème Brulée, Wensleydale cheese with Blueberries.

3.0 From a can. Sweet blueberry aroma. Pours a cloudy yellow with very small white head. Mild blueberry flavour with a touch of bitterness. Medium body. Sweet finish.
2.5 Pours slightly hazy pale straw with one finger of white head, good retention and minimal lacing. (3/5) Nose is blueberries, sugar, wheat, faint grass/hay. (5/10) Taste is moderately strong sweet, mild bitter. (4/10) Light body, moderate carbonation, off-dry lightly crisp finish. (3/5) Fairly typical adjunct lager, with sweet and not entirely authentic-tasting blueberries. Think preservative-laden sealed-in-plastic blueberry scones - you might not necessarily want one every day, but as an occasional guilty pleasure they’re not the end of the world. (10/20)
3.0 Pours a golden-orange colour with a thin white head. Aroma of blueberries & malt. Good balance of flavour. This would be great to try again in the summer!
3.0 Can. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a small white head. Has a fruity blueberry aroma. Fruity malty blueberry flavor with hints of caramel. Has a fruity malty blueberry finish.
2.7 Draft at the source, including blueberries added to the glass. Clear yellow color, medium white head. Aroma of straw, hay, light berries. Taste is sweetish hay and fruit. OK summer drink.
2.8 Pale yellow, minimal white head. Smells of straw, blueberries. Tastes just like it smells. A little watery, and has a long lingering finish. Not bad, but nothing all that special.
4.3 My favorite fruit beer made with real fruit. Great session beer for those summer days, but I like it all year long!
3.2 Pours a light straw with a fair amount of carbonation. Thin white head that doesn’t stick around long. Smells exactly like a blueberry scone. Tastes are of sweet blueberries, a touch of malt, another touch of light hops. Overall, maybe a bit gimmicky, but still infinitely drinkable on a hot summer day.
3.0 Very light straw colour, aroma of straw and blueberries. Taste is very light lager with a hint if blueberry at the end.
2.9 If you get this on tap at the Pumphouse brewery they will add fresh blueberries in the bottom of your glass, which is a nice touch. Smells very sweet. Tastes of hay, wheat and a very sweet blueberry taste. More sweet than I like my fruit beer to be, but very refreshing on a Summer day and just feels right drinking it.
3.4 can. Poured with a slight haze, amber-orange with a thin white head. Aroma is a mix of sour and sweet blueberries. Light body, creamy carbonation with a soft mouthfeel. Bready malt flavour with wheat and blueberries. Finishes with just enough dryness.
3.1 One of the better blueberry beers I have had. Seems like a popular Maritime Canada thing for sure. This one tastes less "blueberry candy" than some others I have had. A nice dark straw colour with a thin white head. Smell is hay, caramel and blueberry. Tastes like it smells. Some honey and white bread as well. A great outdoor summer beer.
3.3 Tastes of blueberries up front balanced with a nice malt backbone, some grassiness, and heavy carbonation
3.0 341 ml bottle. Pours a golden-orange colour with a thin white head. Sweet aroma of blueberries, malt and a hint of pepper. Sweet flavour of malt and blueberries with pepper in the finish. Light body, watery texture and fizzy carbonation.
1.9 Pours a clear golden yellow without a lasting head. Strong blueberry fragrance noticed immediately. On the palate, however the blueberry is much milder. No discernible finish or aftertaste. I would not recommend or order again. Unremarkable.
3.1 Pungent blueberry fragrance. Golden straw colour with small white head. Not overally tasty but a decent blend of hops and malt. Was expecting more but still a goos fruit beer
3.0 Une Ale très ordinaire aromatisée aux bleuets... La note de passage, sans plus.
2.6 The beer poured a hazy dark gold colour with a thin white head. The aroma was rife with blueberries, but also grainy malt and some florally hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grassy, with some sweet malt, and a bitter finish and a nice blueberry flavour
3.6 If you like a fruit beer, I truly recommend. Nice blueberry taste, not over tasty. Good smooth taste without a lasting after. Nice head and golden clear color.
3.0 citrus, golden, hazy, frothy, light sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, light body, thin feel, average carbonation,
3.2 (can) hazy pale yellow colour with a tall white head; aroma of blueberries, blueberry muffins, clean and refreshing flavour with a long light bitter finish
2.9 Can from LC, Flavour and smell is of lots of blueberrys, not to strong, mild flavour and a not to sweet as well, decent
3.1 2013/07/18 - Tall can from the LCBO. Pours a pale straw colour with medium, fizzy, white head. Aroma I predominantly blueberries with a sweet, pale malt/cereal backbone. Taste follows nose with less emphasis on the blueberry and more on the cereal malt with an aftertaste that is sweet, but not cloying. Mouthfeel is thin with medium carbonation and a slightly bitter and astringent finish. Not great, bit not all that bad.
3.2 On tap at the pub. Amber gold pour with whole blueberries. Good potent blueberry aroma, fruity, light cereal notes. Flavor is blueberry, a bit vegetal though, a bit of a weird mix with the cereal profile. Good job integrating blueberries, but this was a bit unfulfilling.
2.7 Pours a golden colour with white head. Blueberry aromas and flavours. Finish is a bit watery. Not too bad.
2.5 clear brew with golden colour. synthetic blueberry aroma and some funk. some what sweet brew with a mild blueberry flavour and light bitter finish. this is a light tasting beer..which makes it okay!
2.4 Can. Pours light yellow with a clear white head. Was expecting some red/blue/orange. Nope--Just standard lager colouring. Aroma of (artificial) blueberries and sugar. Overpowering. Interesting sort of "Jolly Rancher" blueberry flavour too it, but overall a disappointment.
2.8 Pours blonde. Actually some lacing. Smells a little of blueberry. Some crisp malt. Finishes with light astringency, cloying. Sours on the long term aftertaste. Tall can.
2.6 Really a lot of blueberry in the aroma. Like, a lot! Looks OK, pale, decent head. Taste is much better. Sweet but not cloying. Not bad overall.
2.9 Pours a straw colour with decent white head that leaves a nice soapy cap of white. Aromas of pale malts and blueberry sweetness. Flavour is blueberry though not too sweet, some mild pale malt and a light bitterness on the finish.
