3.7Cask beer served at the Last Post JDW Southend on Sea, Smurf City USA. This Mad Goose is extremely delicious, just like the bird sitting opposite me. It's a chemical world.
3.3Purity have almost managed to pull off a trick with this pint; it has a sort of 'keg' feel to it which with some cask brews is no bad thing. Not much on the nose however flavours, although weak, are there to discover with some imagination. The malt and sweetness is very much in evidence with the hops and bittering taking a back seat. They do kick in but don't last on the tongue, or in the beer. It's a good enough pint, nicely drinkable in its way but there's no real excitement that would make you hunt for it.
3.13/5/2019. Cask at the 28th East Anglian Beer & Cider Festival, Bury St Edmunds. Pours slightly hazy pale amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus, hops, caramel, flowers and lemon zest. Medium sweetness with moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation.
3.5Half pint from cask at The Broom Tavern (B50 4HL), 2019-04-08.
Appearance is a clear pale amber with a thick, long-lasting creamy white head.
Aroma is mostly notes of citrus and hops, with a touch of floral. Quite pleasant.
Taste is similar. Pleasant fruitiness with a bitter hit from the hops towards the end.
Palate is light to medium bodied. Short finish but nice and silky in the mouth.
Overall, a reasonable pint. Colour doesn't really match with the expectations from a pale, but everything else is pretty good.
