2.3 "i remember having a really good imperial ipa from Pyramid once, but it must have been based on a different IPA than this one...this is the budweiser of IPA’s. anything but inspired. less aroma and flavor than one would expect."
3.2 Bottle on Amtrak October 5th, 2014. Aroma of sap, citrus, caramel. Taste is bittersweet. Effervescent and dry finish.
3.8 Coppery amber color with very fine cream colored head. Aroma is floral and "beery." Flavor is caramelly with floral notes, followed by really strong herbal bitterness. Tastes good, but too long of a bitter finish for me.
2.7 Hazy dull light amber. Medium head. Earthy aroma and old school bitter but dull cheesy hop character. Not great but old school.
1.9 Pours as a muddy amber, not particularly clear in an IPA glass. Very little hop aroma. Tastes very bitter with a little bit of malt flavors to back it. It’s like Pyramid added all hops early in the boil. This beer was a complete miss and disappointing for pyramid.
2.2 Virtually no aroma just a hint of hops, copper colored not much head. No distinctive taste just a bitter taste with an oily feel and a bitter finish.
3.2 12 ounce bottle from backlog notes 07/08. Pours a clear golden amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have pale malts, mild caramel, light resiny and citrus hops, lightly toasted bread, a general bitterness to the finish, medium bodied. A very average ipa.
3.4 Pours a very cloudy copper - not particularly attractive. Nice nose, though, with floral and pine scents. Taste is some citrus, sweet caramel malt and hops. Pretty solid IPA.
1.6 very disappointing it kind of tastes like budweiser at first but finishes a little better. Aroma isn’t to bad but the flavor is very off sweet then bitter and skunky no balance. I thought maybe just poor storage but reading the other reviews probably not.
3.1 Bomber. Opaque orange copper, off-white foamy head fades fast. Citrus hop aroma and taste, nice fruitiness, some herbs and evergreen, medium caramel malts. Flat-soft carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. Bitter citric finish. Nice enough flavor, a bit lifeless. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
2.9 It poured a clear copper color with no head. The aroma was of bready malts, caramel and some light citrus hops. The taste was of caramel malts, lots of bread, cereal, some lingering citrus hops and some bitterness. This was pretty much a one dimensional beer and average.
3.2 Nice aroma, but taste is a little flat. Normal hop sharpness, appearance is great with high fluffy head. Finish is short, with mild lingering bitterness. Good, but not great.
3.0 On tap @ Doyle’s Pour House (Barneget NJ). Pours a clear golden amber color with 2 fingers of foamy white head. Aroma of bread and yeast, with plenty of citrus hops. Taste of citrus and floral hop bitterness, and bready malts.
2.9 Aroma was I don't remember. Light amber. Quite bitter and surprisingly fruity. Medium body.
2.7 March 2012. Bottle. Middle of the road IPA, but with so many better choices out there, why even bother? Amber color, white head. Some hops, but muted. Mostly malt and caramel.
3.2 Pours a light copper color with a minimal off-white head. Aroma of pine and melon. Decent malt to hops balance. Not a bad drinking IPA but far from the best.
3.3 Very subpar IPA. Dank boring taste. Small hops. Just a commercial IPA in my opinion. Had this on draft at Pyramid Brewery by Safeco field.
1.9 Bland smell. Murky and fizzy appearance (like a wheat beer). Slightly bitter taste, not a lot of depth. Drinkable. My craft beer friends all hate it, and my non-craft beer friends all hate it, not sure where the appeal is on this. Maybe for wannabe beer snobs?
3.1 On tap at the National. Watered down. Hoppy, but also astringent and metallic. Some lace and head. Not so drinkability.
3.1 Not my fav IPA by far but not horrible. Nose was pretty muted. Nice amber pour . Some foam. Flavour is malty with muted hop flavour.
3.5 A half finger of head on a dark amber colored body. The aroma is mild grapefruit and faint overall. There’s a solid lemon bitterness in the taste. It’s straight forward and bold. The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation. It’s a "no-frills" IPA and build well.
2.4 12 oz bottle. Pours amber with medium head and lots of carbonation. Aromas of malts and a touch of floral hops. Flavours are similar with significant bitter finish. Except for the bittering there is not much here
3.1 Slightly hazy orange-amber with a short head. Scent is sweetly bready, faint herbals. Taste is a sugary caramel malt, tingly carbonation, earthy bitter. Nice, but average.
3.0 It’s more malty than most IPAs I’ve had. Not as hoppy as I’d like. Very strong alcohol content, but not much else makes it very good.
3.1 Pours a light and slightly hazy light amber with orange hues, frothy head. Aromas of caramel mixed with floral/slightly fruity hops. Flavors of caramel slightly overpowering the floral hops. Medium bitter that stays around in the aftertaste. Nothing offensive here just more on the malty side for an ipa and a malty that isn’t to charming.
3.3 A - Pours a slightly hazy dark golden brown with amber highlights. Thick head with nice retention. Spotted lacing. S - Earthy hops, semi-sweet malt, almost a bean scent coming through, a weird earthy, acidic tomato aroma. T - Floral hops start it off, followed by a candied malt that is quite pronounced, slight chocolate notes mixed with peppery citrus bite, finish is grapefruit rind resin. Not too shabby. A little on the floral side but other than that a descent IPA. Serving type: bottle 08-12-2010
2.8 I normally do not like IPAs. Its probably b/c this one is mild compared to those I've tasted that I like this one.
3.3 On tap at Pyramid Brewing pub, Seattle. Clear dark golden color. Very bitter taste... Perfect!
2.8 From bottle. Poured copper in color. Aroma was mild earthy hop and cardboard. Taste follows. Musty taste with small roasted malt, lots of bittering. Metallic off taste.
3.0 Pours a nice copper, with small head and decent lacing. I have found this beer to be inconsistent--possibly because of age. On a good day, it is well-balanced and hop heavy--piney, maybe even pinon. On a bad day, only the elevated ABV is a positive.
