Radermacher Rader Ambrée

Radermacher Rader Ambrée

Rader Ambrée is the subtle aromatization of a beer brewed in the ancient-way, re-fermented in its bottle, with a distillate of grain which has undergone a prolonged ageing process in oak casks.
The primary fermentation is made with the same selected grains for the mash tubbing and the distillate.
The distillate, aged in oak casks, is then added to the mash tub just before the re-fermentation in the bottle.

3.4 Pours a lightly hazed amber color with a white head. There’s a mild gin/genever aroma to it, but definitely an herbaceous quality overall. Sweet banana and toasted bread and some hints of yeast round out the nose. Lots of toasted bread flavor to the beer with a strong herbal quality from the gin. A touch of banana, some apple, and light fruit qualities on the finish.
3.3 Draft @ Délirium. Wondering if this is not a tuned up Val Dieu Grand Cru with the added Jenever from Radebacher distillery.

3.6 (Draught at Delirium Café, Brussels, 16 July 2012) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with dried fruit, candy sugar, dried apricots and orange peel. Malty, fruity taste with notes of orange peel, candy sugar and a spicy bitterness in a finish with a certain alcohol bite. Almost full body, quite sweet. Hardly well balanced, but quite tasty and nice.
3.5 33cl bottle @ home. Clear copper color, small white head that becomes a small lacing. Smell malts, toast, caramel, hint of sweetness, hint of bitter. Taste malts, caramel, lightly bitter, lightly alcohol, light hint of black currant and grapes. Pretty nice. Medium to full carbonation, medium body.
3.6 Dumpy 33cl brown bottle, best before 10 Jun 2011, drank 22 Aug 2010: poured into a 2000 special Duvel tulip. Light amber, or dull orange depending on your mood. Managed to pour the beer without any grist getting into the glass, even so the beer had a haze/mistiness to it. On top sat a huge, large bubbled head, white in colour. Yeast esters more than anything elae, very Belgian in its smells, malt aromas outnumbered any hop smells but the whole aroma was enough to excite my tastebuds. Tangy and interesting, sweet molasses vieing with a hop bitterness and some spice elements (peppery maybe?). It is one of those pesky Belgians that hide the alcohol content so well, the 10.5% ABV only becomes apparent towards the end of the tasting as the beer warms in the glass. Highly carbonated, but not ’fizzy’, it might have benefited with a little more time to age, as it seemed a bit ’young’ or ’green’ to me. Most enjoyable and one I wouldn’t be frightened to try again. It went well with raw hazelnuts.
1.9 @ Brugs beerfestival listed as Val-Dieu Rader Ambrée ( ?! ) Head: creamy, off white Colour: amber, slight hazy Smell: skunky, grainy, yeast, not too good ... Taste: start is bubblegum and grians, sewer, boozey, almunds, fuck this is bad !
2.6 Transfering data from personal beer file. I drank this beer a long time ago. I’ll update this rating if I have the chance to drink it again.
2.5 Fra fat på Delirium Café i Brussel 6 Mai 11. Delt med Rune. Amber. Uklar. OK skum. Søt fruktig aroma. Kjempesøt fruktig smak. Plommer. Litt mandler i ettersmaken.
2.8 A tick in The Sickies with Dirtman- unbelievable. Just bring a wad of notes for your deposit on the ornate Belgian glassware- that’s a deposit on every glass, not just the Kwak trumpet. At least they’re trying. The beer is average. Deep orange with a slick-lacing foam. Aroma of beans on wholemeal, grass, faint banana. Sweet and sugared with a rub of grass, vague warm, honey on wholemeal. Super dull.
3.7 13/11/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 14/04/12 (2011-639) Clear orange beer, big creamy head, stable, adhesive with nice lacing. Aroma: little sweet, malts, ripe as well as dried fruits, some banana, touch of vanilla. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, ripe banana, some caramel, vanilla. Aftertaste: bit alcoholic, cloves, little bitter, traces of tangerine.
2.7 On tap at Delirium Café. It poured a clear dark golden liquid with a creamy white head. Smell and taste of fruits, malts, candy, toffee and caramel. Sweet and easy to drink beer that should work well with food.
3.4 330mL bottle poured dark amber color with big white head quickly settling to a fine lace. Aromas of oak and yeast. Flavor is malty sweet with some wood and yeast and alcohol. Average carbonation and full body.
3.3 On tap at Delirium Cafe. Dark brown with huge head. Nose of sweets, fruits. Taste is caramel, bitter, toffee. Quite sweet. Okay.
Hab schon Besseres getrunken. Test vom 14.8.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,8,9,8,6,8 - 8,45
3.1 On tap at Delirium Café, shared with Finn. One big patch at the middle of the surface. Fragile lacing. Cloudy, dark-orange body. Fruit hoppy smell, slightly sour. Malt-fruity taste, candy sweet, herbal dryness and yeasty alcohol. Rather special kind of smell and taste that carries some interests (Brussel, 06.05.2011).
3.5 Bottle at First German Ratebeer gathering at Idar Oberstein courtesy of Bierkrug. Sweet toffee malt, cherry, and light alcohol aroma. Medium brown with giant head. Sweet toffee malt and moderately astringent alcohol flavor. Nice body. Tasty - alcohol fairly well hidden.
3.3 Bottle at the first German local RateBeer tasting at Wasaba in Idar-Oberstein. Courtesy of shrubber85 - thanks! A Belgian beer labeled and sold in Germany? Is this one a Radler?? Probably not with that alcohol percentage. It has a bittersweet taste like a barleywine with a touch more hops.
4.3 330 ml bottle in Germany. Dark amber color with a huge white foamy head. Powerful malty aroma in which alcohol is noticeable. The taste is sweet before anything, very fruity, subtle tartness, with a sweet like end. I found it robust for sure, but well balanced and not as agressive as others of the type can be. Overall very tasty with a lot of character. My rating may be different with the German version direct from the Abtei in Germany
3.7 Bottle conditioned, 330ml at Cafe Bruxelles, Leicester. Amber to brown with white head. This is very whisky like in character, it shows right from the start, there is bitterness within the malts and an oaky woodiness. Much better than it sounds, pretty decent.
2.4 Golden beer. Lightly sour smell. Mainly flavours of honey with sour hints can be tasted.
3.3 Malt Hummel citron lime gylden lidt skum hvid Fyldig bitter mellem normal fad 25/7 delirium
3.4 Appearance is a good read slash murky brown, okay barley and malts aroma. There’s kind of a sour gueuze/beer cross going on here, rather complex, a unique and fruity high-proof beer.
3.0 Cloudy orange with a big meringue white head and lots of floaties. The aroma is sour Belgian and oak with a hint of dough and alcohol. This is somewhat hard to explain, but the aroma reminds me dead on of that astringent minty smell from Icy Hot. Seriously. The flavor is a bit tinny with candi sugar, a hint of tannins, sweet malt, and Belgian yeast. A sour dryness that reminds of white wine is also present. Super high burning carbonation that just isn’t soft enough to sell it.
3.1 Shared this one w/SkyCop32. Pours a nice Medium golden amber color. Minimal fizzy white head, lasted maybe a minute or two. Aromas of light spices, a touch of brown sugar, and something vegetal. Flavor is lightly sweet and hints of spiciness. Touch of citrus.
3.5 750ml bottle, caged and corked. There was a loud ’pop’ that so often accompanies the release of a good corked beer, but there wasn’t any unwanted gush from the top. Poured a clear medium orange color. The head was white, three fingers high, and reduced slowly, reluctantly. There was some lace left behind on the glass at the end. The aroma reminded me of maple syrup with hints of toffee, soy, and spices. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. Carbonation was moderate to high. I tasted distinct maple syrup, toffee, Belgian spices, and dark fruits.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a copper amber body with an off white head. Fruity apple salty malt character plum and caramel with a modest warming. Light oaky character with some light vanilla notes.
3.4 33 cl bottle, Winnipeg, MB, Canada. Cloudy orange/amber colour with a slight chalky tinge. Foamy head, Musty citrus aroma, balanced first sip, sweet and caramel apple-like. Alcohol creeps up, but does not overpower. Lingering sweet alcohol burn at the back of the throat on the finish with more toffee and caramel notes.
3.5 Darker amber coloured beer with medium white head. Yeasty hoppy aroma and fruity aroma with an alcoholic touch. Full palate bit sparkling and creamy. Finish is bitter and spciy ending more bitter near the end. Good one.
3.1 amber coloured sparkling body with a huches off white head a sweet fruity malty aroma a spicy malty fruity alcholic taste with a alcholic bitter finish
