Rahr & Sons Blonde Lager

Rahr & Sons Blonde Lager

It's our very first beer - golden medium-bodied and brewed as a traditional Munich Helles style pale lager. It features a rounded maltiness without being too heavy. And like every proud Texan, it has a good head, is pleaseant but never overly sweet.

2.7 Slightly hazy golden with a thin white head. Malty aroma, with a hint of citrus. Simple, nothing special.
3.2 Clear light golden with a thin white head. Blonde lagery cereal tones on the nose, nothing really remarkable. Loads of helles cracker malt on the flavor, some blonde toast, and a noble light grassy hop. Very balanced and quaffable, grainy and bright blond. True to style but doesn’t make a big splash.
2.0 A bit of non European malt aroma. Coarse white foam that disappears very quickly. Flavors of oxidized noble hops and Grainy malt. Dry finish. Disappointing.
2.9 Blonde, mild carbonation, and thin white head. Mild citrus, mild floral, and mild wood/cardboard aroma. Medium bodied, mild dryness, citrus, and mild fruit notes. Decent balance and mild hop finish.
3.7 Rated based on notes taken 21 Mar 2012 -- Great lager. Strong malty nose that I love.
2.7 Draft. Slightly hazy yellow color, small white head. Aroma of peppery crackers. Taste has cereal and crackers.
2.3 Bottle at home. Smells of citrus. Light bodied. Mild sweet flavour. Refreshing on a summer day, but not something I’d seek out.
3.1 12 oz. bottle. Pour is a clean vibrant straw gold with a finger if white head. Aroma has a bready sweetness to it, slightly citrusy. Taste is sweet, slightly caramel, sweet citrus, a touch of lime maybe. Sweeter than I expected, very little bitterness and definitely a clean dry finish typical of a lager. Overall still light and refreshing although a bit sweet for the style.
1.9 Cloying sweet with notes of blueberry. Bitterness is not high but has an unpleasant biting quality. Disappointing.
3.0 Pours a nice clear golden color with white head. Cereal grains on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes pretty clean. An average blonde beer.
3.6 A beautiful blonde with a great mouth feel, and taste. A malty semisweet flavor that is quite refreshing.
2.9 Sampled at the 2014 Untapped festival in Fort Worth. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains with a bit of biscuit and a hint of grass backing. Flavor is mild with sweet grains, light grass and a hint of biscuit.
2.8 Straw and water without much aftertaste. Not much too it, but also nothing unpleasant about it.
3.2 pours a yellowish golden color. the aroma is wet grass, malts, and slight citrus. the taste is identical.
2.7 Average. Grassy malts and lager yeast aromas. Yellowish golden in color with a white head. Light clean palate with high carbonation. Easy to drink with food. Light flavors typical with a blonde ale but lager style, which didn’t change much. Malty with a slight hops bitterness at the finish.
2.4 Bottle at Yespr’s - Thanks. Clear golden - white head. Oldness - honey like sweetnes, fruity notes, light bitterness, hay, some caramel notes, boring.
2.8 clear yelllow, smooth offwhite heaed. mild , mild malty aroma. flavor is malty, old hops, sweet malty.
2.6 Bottle at yespr. Cloudy golden coloured with a small white head. Malty aroma of hay and caramel.. Malty flavour of hay and caramel with notes of hops. Hoppy finish.
2.9 Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of straw, lemons, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw and malt, leading to a bitter finish.
2.6 33 cL bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is toasted malty and light herbal. Bitter, grassy and light herbal. Dry and toasted finish.
3.1 biscuity aroma pale blond appearance. a good malty taste balanced by nice bittering hops with a good crisp finish. overall a pretty decent german style lager
3.2 Tap. Pours clear gold with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is Pils malt and spicy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and bitterness and a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.
2.2 On tap. It’s a hazy one, golden in color and with a small, white head. There’s a good dash of butterscotch in the aroma, with fruityness and some pale malts. There’s a faint bitterness in the flavor, with a light caramel touch, a generic fruityness and a good dash of butterscotch. Medium to full body, pleasant carbonation. Fruity finish. Overall, not very interesting, and not very good either. Suspect the butterscotch is due to the tap lines, not the brewery, still it’s a quite uninteresting beer. 130829
2.8 12 oz bottle This was served at the Omni in Ft Worth. The brewery was about 1 mile away. The pale lager poured a clear straw color with white head. The lager is balanced and went well with our meals. The body was medium with average carbonation. This is a better than average pale lager. The lager had a nice crispness and was a pleasure to drink.
2.0 Horrible beer! It’s like the brewery must be next door to a Budweiser! But the beer itself sucks! Watered down! No flavor! Malty mess! Undrinkable! It’s like a waste of my life I can never get back! If your friends drink this consider rethinking your choice of friends!
3.4 Solid lager...trade extra from Errl! Thanks, Chris!. Nice nose of subtle citrus, grass, and then hay as it warms. Taste follows. Finishes clean. Got some off aromas occassionally but better than I expected. Would happily drink this if I wanted a lager on a hot day.
3.6 Totally underrated. Great, balanced, medium-bodied session beer. It has a nice carbonation bite, subtle hops, and a very slight caramel malt finish. I could drink these all night long.
2.7 Pours a nice clear amber with a thin white head. Fruity, malty aroma lacks strength. Flavor, fortunately, delivers more than what the aroma promises - typically, malty and fruity, but fairly firm. Smooth mouthfeel is OK on firmness and fizz. Good with dinner, or at a party.
2.0 Golden pale body, white foamy head. Retains a bit of lace. Aroma of subdued malt and literally nothing else. Flavor is equally absent, except for a mild bitterness sensation at the end. This is about as tasteless as it gets for beer. It's a shame that many will associate the Helles style with this uninspired offering.
3.0 Pours a straw yellow with a one finger head. Taste is malt, citrus and grass. Nothing really special here but not bad.
