3.012 oz bottle. Bright golden, minimal head (esp. for a wheat). Nose light banana-milk. Simple, smooth on the tongue, banana sweet, light yeast, no bitterness. Good body overall, light but not too thin
3.8Bottle. Pours cloudy golden with a small white head. Just a ring resides. Aromas of lemon, fresh apple, grass, and light bread. The flavor is spritzy and refreshing as all hell. Tons of citrus rind, think lemon. A nice wheat twang, bananna on the finish, and light grassy hops are all here. Really nice brew and really refreshing
3.5Poured hazy and yellowish with a nice tight head. Standard weissbier aroma of clove and citrus fruit. Filling mouthfeel and flavour of citrus and a dry aftertaste.
2.6Bottle. Slightly hazy yellow pour with a very small white head. Nose is banana, clove, and apple. Thinner palate. Taste is very muted - watery hefe elements, but they are pretty well stuck in the background.
2.6A: Typical hazy straw color with a thin white head... fades and leaves some lacing...
S: Wheat, yeast and spice... in roughly equally non-describable amounts...
T: The wheat base is prominent... clove, banana and lemon-citrus lends some accent...
M: Crisp. Dry. With a moderate to light body...
O: Much better on a summer day... this wasn’t all that bad, other choices in the category just out class it...
3.4Yellow pour with a banana and sweet malt aroma. . Banana, wheat and clove taste. Easy to drink.
2.612 oz bottle. No carbonation at all, flat. Wondering if I got a bad six pack. Drank two of them, both had no carbonation or head at all. Spicy wheat aroma, light fruity esters. Apple and clove are in the taste but with out any carbonation at all, it really degraded the brew. Could be much improved with Co2. I gave the other four bottles to my friend. The Ramstein Classic is WAY better then this brew. I wouldn’t buy again.
2.6From tap at Gaslight, NJ. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is butterish and slight wheaty. Bitter and phenolic. Dry and slight butterish into a dry finish.
2.1Pale yellow, foaming white cover. Aroma is sourish wheat, eh. Taste is light spicing, lemon, wheat.
3.2Bottle from a trade with emacgee. Pours cloudy straw color with huge white head. Aromas of clove, bananas, bubble gum and wheat. Sweet banana and clove flavors with some fruitiness. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Thanks Ethan.
3.1Tasted from a 12oz bottle sent to me as an extra in a trade. Pours hazy light orange with a thin lace white head that dissipates quickly. The nose is classic clove and banana yeast with a hint of sweet wheat malt. The flavor features the sweetness a little more with the same expected banana and clove flavors. The body is medium with light, but stinging carbonation and a medium sticky banana finish. There is also a hint of nuttiness on the "extended" finish.
3.0Bottle from Half Time. Pours hazy gold with a large foamy off-white head. Aroma is clove. Med body; foamy carb. Flavor is primarily clove. It’s certainly not a dull beer. Seems to have grassish hop bitter. Finishes dryish.
3.5Lively slightly hazy pale yellow, big white head goes away very very quickly... Spicy wheaty aroma with no real big fruity esters at all, a touch medicinal, and a touch of pepper... Spicy finish, some pepper, no real fruits until it warms to reveal the slightest banana and citrus notes... Dry lively lingering pepper/spice, not heavy at all...
3.812oz Bottle at the Hyatt Regency - New Brunswick, NJ. Nice juicy banana and clove aroma, a bit strong and Americanized, but still of a decent character and enjoyable. Pours a well-hazed lemon yellow with a nice off-white head. Flavors are rich and deep. Lots of estery and phenolic yeast, some chewy wheat, and a nice decoction-mash like texture. Rich, but not cloying. It has a few loose edges, as the yeast profile is a little too strong and the overall quality of the beer is a little past peak, so I don’t perceive it as being as good as the other Ramstein wheats, but still pleasant.
3.4Sample at the brewery. Hazy golden hue with a banana, spices and yeast in the nose and on the palate. Classic, tasty heffe.
3.5Bottle. Light golden hazy pour with white head. Citrus light malt and wheat light tart aroma. Flavor is light tart, wheat and citrus.
3.0Draft. Pours hazy yellow with a thin head. Sweet wheaty aroma with banana notes and a bit of a candy-like sweetness. The flavor is wheaty and fruity sweet, with banana, a hint of clove, and a light bubblegummy note. Decent.
2.7bottle, slight hazy golden pour with some white foam, aroma and flavor are a mix of fake banana and bubblegum, very artificial tasting with a decent lasting finish
4.3Very cloudy orange yellowish pour in the glass. Full of distinct nose of nuts, flowers, resins, herbs and toast. Taste is a banana wheat. Body is a little on the light side. Rated 12/30/99
I should point out that this is one of the most inconsistent beers I’ve ever had. I’ve had batches of it that I’d rate as low as 2.0. My rating above is the beer in it’s heyday many years ago.
4.3Absolutely fabulous Hefeweizen, and the best domestic beer of NJ. Good balance with clove vs apple on the aroma and weaving like the soloists in Bach’s Double Violin Concerto atop a cantus firmus of malt and a bit--just the right amount--of hops. Stellar; well done! (OT)
2.9On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a thin white head. Bananas, wheat, and some slightly vegetal aromas. Medium bodied, a bit more vegetal character, wheat and banana. Rather empty overall, with a sweet finish.
2.8Golden blond coloured ber with a small white head and very little carbonation. Pilsener hoppy, light herby touched aroma. Medium palate. Finish is sweet, light hoppy and light fruity hinted. Medium Hefeweizen.
2.9Aroma of wheat, some spice from the yeast but not overly complex. Taste is thin with a thud of a finish. Not impressed.
2.6hmm... poured with little to no head. Taste is very dry and kind of sour.Bubblegum and citrus flavors as well. Finished dry and bitter. The brewery is half a mile from here so it’s kindof neat being so close but I didn’t love the beer. Liked it but didn’t love it.. too sour..It’s different...
2.9Clear pale yellow coloured beer with small white head and few carbonation. Herby aroma. Full palate. Finish is bitter herby.
3.1Had a great time at the monthly beer tasting at High Point Brewery.
The Blonde is their Flagship. An interesting beer, if not one a my favorites. The quality is all there, great apperance, smell, mouthfeel. There is a unique quality to the taste and aroma of the beer that is too rare in brewing (I would not mistake this for any other beer).
However the fruit tones and sweetness of this beer, over powered the balance of the beer.
3.1From the tap poured a hazy golden color with a fair amount of head. Nice light sweet malty flavor with a quick finish.
3.6Draft at bottle. Pours a golden body with a white head. Sweet with light cinnamon spice, banana and wheat with a dry earthy note. good.
3.5Golden hazy with dense egg white head. Big banana estery nose, a bit too much. Flavor is spicy, slightly cloying. Greg does a real good job bringing authentic Bavarian Weiss’ to the local market.
2.1Bottle. Pours hazy body. Aroma is funk, taste is really offensive - not sure if the bottle is bad, but this beer was nasty.
