With a very complex blend of citric fruitness and floral overtones, this beer has a pleasing dry hop taste tht enhances its already stellar drinkability. A favorite among many whom appreciate the finer Pale Ales. Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

3.4Bottle. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Grapefruit and light malt aroma. Grapefruit and light summer fruit flavor with light malt. Medium bodied. Good hop flavor. Grapefruit and light summer fruit lingers with light caramel.
3.522 oz. bottle from BevMo (E. Tucson) - Pours a clear golden color with a one finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is spicy pine, herbal, and citrus hops. Flavor is herbal and pines hops with a little toasted malt hiding in the back ground. Medium body. Nothing fancy, but very drinkable.
4.122oz bomber. Orange-tan color, looks filtered. Big soapy head. Fresh astringent hop bitterness in the aroma, some piny notes. This is a pretty great APA, capturing the essence of the style quite well. Earthy caramel malt tones couple perfectly with the mild orange citrusof the hops. Steady but subdued bitterness. Just enough malty alcohol depth to keep it interesting, but not overwhelming. Some creamy undertones. Excellent.
2.8Not at all my favorite style, but this reminds me of the solid homebrew ale from university in England...A complex beer worth savoring
3.0Bomber. Poured clear medium golden with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up earthy and caramel sweetness with a touch of smoke.. pine and orangey hoppage around.. a little detergent-like as it warmed up. The flavor found tart citrus juice on the tip of the tongue followed by semi-sweet caramel and pale malts.. more orangey bitterness and detergent surrounded.. finished with tacky, non-descript malts and citrus bitterness. Medium-ish bodied and slick across the palate.. sharp on the back-half, and it didn’t flow that well.. drinkable, but not that good.
3.2Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 10/25/09
Aroma: The aroma starts off with some citrus and pine hops, and a good amount of soapiness to the smell as well. It’s kind of a strange nose, it almost smells like lemon dish washing detergent.
Appearance: This one pours a hazy golden-orange color with a big fluffy white head and a good amount of lace.
Flavor: The flavor is quite citric as well, its got a nice amount of hop flavor to it with a mild malt backing.
Palate: This beer has a light-medium body, and a decent, though somewhat thin/watery mouthfell.
Overall Impression:
This is a solid beer. Something I enjoyed, but not something I would describe as special or exciting. It’s kind of a hoppy pale ale with a soap feel to it, but it is something you certainly enjoy.
3.3Sampled at a Mead, Cider, and Beer Tasting for Binny’s Beverage Depot in Glen Ellyn, IL. Poured a hazy golden amber to my wine/sampler glass, with a diminishing, modest off white head and spotty lacing. The aroma was fruits, citrus and some malt sweetness. The flavor added to these an initial funkiness, a little tartness, subtle hop bitterness, and some dryness to the finish. Good and bold enough for an APA.
3.4Bomber from Gentiles Wine Shop in Chicago shared with my brother-in-law. Pours a hazy orange color with a one finger width white frothy head that disappears quickly. The aroma consists of light hops, some citrus, light pine, and very light malt. The taste was very strange when the beer was cold. It consisted of light hops, malt, and a weird mineral water type of taste. The strange taste disappeared after warming up a bit though. There was also a stronger hop bite as the beer warmed also. Finished a bit bitter but smooth. Overall a decent APA. Let this one warm up a bit before drinking though!
3.5Bottle from lighthouse in wimington, nc. Hazy and bright amber pour. Frothy white head and drippy lace. Pine, caramel and floral aroma. Juicy citrus flavor with a decent malt backbone.
3.522oz. Bottle: Aroma of hops, vegetables, pine, slight citrus, light oranges, and some malts. Poured amber/orange in color with a medium-sized, rocky, dense, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of tiny and small particles throughout. Flavor is lightly sweet, and light to medium bitter. Tastes of hops, citrus, slight vegetables, slight caramel, and light pine. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Hop and slight caramel malt finish.
3.6Bottle. Pour is a dark amber with a small, but dense head. Aromas of grapefruit, pineapple and floral hops. Flavor is all that with a decent malt counterbalance and a bit of a soapy flavor throughout. This is pretty good, but comes off as a little too floral for me. I’d like a little more of a bitter bite.
3.422oz bottle shared by BeerGestapo, thanks Mike. Pours amber in color with a large fluffy head that leaves some nice lacing. Taking my first sniff I am greeted by an aroma of freshly zested grapefruit. But after inhaling deeply a scent of dishwashing liquid manifests itself. The flavor was nothing like the smell however. It was slightly oxidized with notes of overripe citrus, cardboard, floral, and a hint of banana. Though it smelled much better than it tasted it was still worthy of drinking. Maybe a fresher sample would prove to be tastier.
3.2Brewed in the USA.... Pours a orange / amber color with a monster foamy off white head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma of citrus, orange peels, soap and malts. The taste is also of malts, citrus, flowers and biscuits. Mouthfeel is kind of foamy with some sour bread flavors in the finish. Not bad !!! But the aroma is much better then the taste.
3.4A slightly older bottle thanks to Lt.Dan. Pours with with a hazed gold body. Aroma still haze a decent amount of citrus hop aromas, a bit of tea and caramel, bread rounding it out. Taste has a touch of oxidation (presenting itself as dried coconut), but still some resilient citrus hops, a bit herbal, and tons of caramel. Not a bad bottle. Lively bubbles, a bit thin. Nice.
3.3Bottle: Nice on a hot San Diego nite to finish the week. TGIF. Nice balance of Hops and malts, finish is dry and sweet. Food Pairing: A nice fresh green salad.
3.6Bright hazy orange with a large bright white head, good retention and lacing. Strong herbal and citrus - grapefruit - aromas. Citrus hops dominate the taste as well, with a solid malt backbone that lends just enough to balance things out. Slightly watery mouthfeel, well carbonated, and strong hops bitterness lingers in the crisp aftertaste.
2.9A full and creamy, yellowhite head settles slow and rocky over a light-hazed golden/amber body with mild carbonation. Aroma is almost entirely composed of tart citrus with grapefruit, lemon and orange rind. Light alcohol comes out late while the aromas seem to get even more sour. Flavor finds the same cictric tart fruitiness balanced about 90/10 against a weak malt backbone. Overall the flavor seems watered down. Drinkable, but... ~~~~~~~~~~ 22 oz. bomber from Kenwood Liquors, Homer Glen, IL
3.5Bottle from Sam’s, I think. Pretty nice APA, really. Pours a nice orangey gold, very slight haze. Nose is Citrus hops and touch of floral notes. Taste is similar, reasonably dry and a touch bready. Drinks very easy and isn’t too aggressive. Nice.
3.8So I noticed that Sudwerk is now brewing this beer. It was nice to see it there on the shelf, as I kicked myself for not getting it when it was brewed by the previous brewery.
The beer pours out a hazy golden/orange body (looked like apple juice in my glass) with a foamy 2" thick head. Medium carbonation present. Aroma is chock full of citrus/grapefruit hops, with a bready yeast/caramel malt character which allowed the hops to really show up. Juicy was my first thoughts regarding the hops. Flavor of caramel malts really stand-up well to the citrus hop profile of the beer. Definite grapefruit, some pine too show up as it gets a bit warmer. Fantastic bitter finish, long and lingering. Quite refreshing to see a pale ale with this amount of bitterness. It could even cross over into IPA territory.
3.2It looked decent enough with a nice slightly citrus hop aroma/ Initial taste was the same as aroma but it faded in a heartbeat to a dryish finish. "ok" Cool label tho.
3.5Bomber from the Orland park, IL, Binny’s: This pours a slightly hazed golden amber body with a sudsy white head that leaves a thick coating of lace. The aroma has a citrusy juciness to it - tart oranges and tangerines - along with a soft grainy sweetness. Medium-bodied, it’s full of that same juiciness, moderately bitter, with a malty sweetnes that loses its struggle to keep the flavor balanced. The finish is a light peppery dry bitterness that lingers for quite a while. Nice.
3.4Big and hoppy for a pale ale. I liked this one much better than the stout they had on hand at the LA Beer Fest.
3.0Pours a clear amber color, low carbonation and a 1/2 inch white, frothy head. Aroma is citrusy and grassy with some light malt in the background. Flavor is citrus hops at first but then moves quickly into a strong grassy flavor after this a light malt flavor kicks in. The flavors kinda meld at the end to give a semi-plastic flavor on my palate. Overall the beer is an okay one but nothing to write home about.
3.3Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange copper with a medium white head. Sweet malt aroma with a hop balance. Hop flavor up front, but very acidic. Some yeast character as well.
3.1A so so APA. Aroma was nice. Grapefruit hops with a weird staleness to it. Pour was a nice bubbly orange with one finger off white head. Taste was thin, but nice and hoppy. Grass and citrus hops with a thin malty aftertaste. Nice carbonation. Decent beer.
3.222oz from Norm’s, Vienna. A quite lively pour, just on the other side of golden and leaning towards orange. Lively carbonation, minimal head and lacing. Very strong grassy aroma, without many other qualities to it. It’s a medium bodied beer, with a prickly feel to it that more or less complements the extremely dry and bitter flavors. Grapefruit rind, with not much balance. Decent.
3.3Bottle. Pours an amber body with a white head. Mild floral hoppiness, a hint of citrus and grapefruit, caramel malt. Finishes very dry with some residual bitterness.
3.1A- Large off-white, frothy head with good lacing throughout the drink; very clear, sparkling body of medium gold/orange hue.
S- Nose is mostly of bread and caramel malts, tones of citrus, and a hint of corn.
T- Initial taste of bitter hops quickly dissipates into the bread malt body; short finish dominated by grapefruit hops; overall well-balanced.
M- Light body; dry/watery texture; lively carbonation
D- Very smooth APA with full malty flavor; very minimal alcohol feel makes this an easy to drink ale that is light and refreshing.
3.722oz bottle. Pours clear amber, with a small white head. Nice aroma - strong grapefruit hops, balanced with caramel and honey. Flavor is citric hops, flowers, caramel, and honey. Balance is toward the sweet side. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and earthy hops provide a long finish. Good stuff.
3.5Bottle. Hazy orange gold, compact white head showing good retention. Muted aromas of caramel and resin. Sweet smooth malts are nicely balanced with citrus and resinous hops in abundance. Very good.
